Back-to-back on same ship

we are about to take our 4th B2B, and all i can say is it is the most amazing thing to do...

first of all i find a ship that is doing 2 different itineraries...i would never want to repeat the same islands 2 weeks in a row...every year is ok, but i like having 5 or 6 different places to get off..

then i decide whether i want the same cabin or book a guarantee, hoping to get an upgrade.but last year we had such a good cabin steward and were assigned that room for 2 weeks , we kind of like not moving..depends ...

and the best thing is getting up the morning we have arrived at our destination, watching all the cruisers leave, and especially watching all the new cruisers arrive...you know when they are new to cruising, they walk in with their mouths wide open...priceless...

cheers to Back to backers...!!!!

On Enchantment, we were SUPPOSED to get our new seapass cards in our cabin and they were SUPPOSED to be linked to our Credit card from the first week! NOT and NOT!

We were escorted off the ship, (6 all together)...customs looked at our passports for 2 seconds, and we were back on the ship. We changed cabins (had an Aft JS over the spotlight lounge.....SUPER noisy. If you attend karaoke or are a partier, etc, it's OK. SUPER vibration too! BLECH.

The cabin attendant did move our stuff for us....only packed the non-hanging stuff.......she moved all the rest on the hangers.

we did get the letter, just nothing happened according to the letter.....

We LOVED our table AND servers...and the maitre d recognized me from Serenade in 2006..SO.....he rearranged sections and staf and we got our same table AND same staff in the DR. The meals were the same, but sometimes we switched what we wanted. Really, the DR staff was the reason we didn't cancel the second half. We HATED our cabin the 1st half, the guest relations people, save for the manager, were rude, tendering was a mess.....(no one told us there were steps to the tender, and they said that there was no other way...get serious...how do wheelchair-bound people get on???)

anyway...B2Bs are fun, just don't expect the letter to march what actually happens. WHen i went to get ice cream and my acount reverted to cash after i used up my OBC from RC Customer service, the GR people told me to go get my CC. I said No...the letter from so and so says this, and you will deal with it...i will not be inconvenienced and my ice cream is melting.

30 seconds later, the GR people call Ben & jerry's and the gal there said it was all fixed. go figure!

We have "learned" to go to Guest Relations and have them update the account with the credit card as soon as we can (at our convience of course) after the second cruise begins. It's fairly easy to catch 'em with no lines. No matter how well intentioned they are the account closes between the cruises and does not carry over to the next cruise.

i shall do that! i guess had i not had OBC i would have figured it out sooner...but at that point, we were so p!$$ed at GR that i truly was not going to waste any more time doing their job for them! ya live, ya learn!;)

We will be experiencing our first B2B, in January 2010, Adventure Of The Seas. Different itineraries on each cruise; total of nine ports!

Booked our cabin, yesterday, and reserved 1688(aft corner-deck 10). Thrilled to get that much sought after cabin, for both cruises.

After sailing on four previous cruises(7 day), can't imagine the feeling of having that extra week, instead of having to disembark & head home!

You'll love it!

Are these B to B cruises for ships that alternate itineraries such as Eastern and Western Caribbean. I can't understand why someone would want to go on the exact same cruise twice in a row.

Sometimes we repeat ports, other times we don't. We love to cruise mainly for the ship; the ports aren't always that important to us, but we usually have different ports each week. It really depends on what's important to you :).

We are doing a B2B in San Juan, PR in May and would like to take the B2B day to go see San Juan (ship doesn't depart until 8:30 PM). Is that going to complicate Customs or should we just do that first with the B2B people, get our new Seapass cards, and then leave the ship?

We've got two great Southern Caribbean schedules that don't have any duplicate ports.

Thanks,

ChriSusan

ChriSusan ... We did a B2B on Celebrity's Summit last Jan/08. Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean. (21 nights) San Juan was the connecting port.

We did the B2B procedure there with the B2B group onboard and then left the ship for our day in San Juan.

Our San Juan B2B experience...A Celebrity rep took us as a group but there was some kind of mix up as the San Juan officals didn't know how to handle our B2B group! We were told to "sit"... pretty rudely... with the other "new" cruisers. Celebrity Rep then passed out water bottles to us and left to clear up the mess with the "higher ups". We were then allowed to reboard "before" the new cruisers. Took "over an hour" so hope this doesn't happen to you!

Pat :)

We get our seapass card a day before turnaround day ...then just get off & go sightseeing.

When we return to the ship just go through security back on the ship.
