So glad to have this thread, I went ahead and booked the Legend for our 25 wedding anniversary, the only problem is that we have to wait until November 2008 to sail. But now this will give me plenty of time to research all the ports of call. To those who are taking this cruise please report back, it is always fun to read the reviews and helpful when choosing excursions.

Were have previous cruise critics meet on the legend?:o Any suggestions?

We have sailed on the Legend twice and she is our favorite ship so far! On both of those cruises we held our first meet and greet at the aft Lido pool bar. Great location and easy for everyone to find. We held our second meet and greet at the piano bar, first night, 10:00-10:30. Seems to work best if you offer 2 or even 3 different times and places to meet up. We've made some fantastic friends on each of our cruises, all because of CC meet and greets!

Happy sailing!:)

We're going to be onboard the Legend on 9/9. We've never eaten at the supper club and just wanted to know 1. is the attire formal? and 2. how do you book reservations?

I've heard nothing b ut great things from everyone here so my wife and I would like to try it during this cruise.

It was awesome! It was our first supper club experiencce. It was not a formal night the night we went, so no it wasn't formal. Formal Nights are though.

We booked as soon as we got on cause we wanted a specific time and night. They are right there in the lobby when you board. You can also call from your cabin, stop by the SC and make a reservation and they usually have a table set-up through out the cruise.

Here is a link to carnivals menu's. Just scroll down thru and you will see carnival legend links.

Ahh.. those menus bring back memories (I wish that they STILL have GRAVLAKS...:( )

Follow this link for more recent menus - though not necessarily 100% current. Disregard the D12A menu (only D71 through D77 apply to the 7-day sailings)...

Wow, the menus look amazing. This may be a silly questions but can you order more than one Entree?
Yes, you can order more than one of anything on the menu. The only exception is in the supper club, but you get so much food up there we felt like we were going to burst!

Tom-n-Cheryl suggested a 3:00 pm meet & greet for Sunday at the Casino bar that worked out well. You might also want to plan for another one the next day somewhere for those who miss the first one.

We met at the Unicorn Bar by the Adult Pool....lots of tables there and you get a chance to enjoy the weather before sailing. I think we had our first meeting at 2:30 or 3:00 on Sail day and then another the following day at the same location.

Although (which is the reason why we prefer an INDOOR venue) what if the weather does not cooperate (pouring rain or more commonly, SEARING heat)? I suppose we enjoy certain creature comforts.

I personally think the best place is in Tom's Wrap around Balcony cabin! He even has snacks and wine!:D

Ahhhh... that does make for a nice sail-away... doesn't it!!!

(Kelli - thanks for those capers :) )

There is an overhang at the Unicorn Bar so rain wouldn't be an issue...the heat, however could.

That makes sense - I never really paid much attention to that (usually I just head back there to get buckets of ice from the bar).

I just booked a junior suite on Carnival Legend on the Empress deck, which is about mid-ship (6158 I believe). Has anyone stayed in these suites on this level before? What is the layout of the room (one continguous room or is it broken up into sections (sitting area, etc.) Are these suites as spacious as the aft cabins I've read about in other threads (with the wrap around balconies)? I'm more concerned with the space and how it's laid out in the cabin moreso than for the balcony. The room I booked says it has a sofa pullout and one upper berth. Do you remember if that berth was in the way?

Any additional info and/or pics of these suites would be appreciated

Excited about the cruise already and it's not until February!

Thanks in advance,

TF

My fiance and I will be sailing on the Legend on 9/16. Does anyone have any recommendations of what to do at each port. Can we wait until we get to the ports to join in on an independent company excursion. I know there is so much info on the this forum in the ports section but I am overwhelmed and don't know what we should book. They all seem so expensive. Would we save money by waiting until we get there? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Well, it depends on what you're interested in. We wanted to dive in Belize and, since the ship tenders there, it just made more sense to go with the cruiseline's dive excursion (which was GREAT!) and get picked up directly from the ship instead of having to tender to Belize City and then go out. A lot of people book the Cave Tubing and/or Zip Line tour independently and seem to love that (since we were diving I have no personal experience).

In Costa Maya we chose to just relax on the beach and took a cab ($3.00 there and $2.00 back pp) and went to the Cat's Meow where we had great food and drinks.

If you haven't been to Grand Cayman you should definitely consider doing a Stingray excursion. We did the "Rays, Reef and Rum Point" tour with Native Way for $60 pp. This included all our transportation, the up close and personal visit with the Stingrays, a great snorkeling experience and a stop at Rum Point for a great meal (included in the price!) and some relaxation. One of the best things is that this tour is limited to 25 people so you don't feel like a sardine. There is a lot more info on Native Way in the Ports section.

As for waiting to book excursions, I personally like to know what I'm doing beforehand...and if you're tendering, it can be a bit overwhelming to try and arrange something once you get to the port as a lot of excursions take up most of your port time and some of the more popular non-cruise excursions do tend to fill up ahead of time with savvy CruiseCritic members.

Hope this helps!

Was that a nice beach at Rum Point in GC?? Bar, restaurant, bathrooms, etc.?? How much time were you at the beach. Thanks.

We were there for about an hour and 15 minutes or so. The food was fantastic as were the amenities (nice clean restrooms, fully stocked bar, etc.). In addition to a wealth of seating, there are also several hammocks strung in the trees to relax in. Here's a few photos from our trip:

This is just the kind of information that I am looking for. I too am somewhat overwelmed with all the choices for what to do but with all the input it has really helped me out. I do have one question, have any of you that have sailed this itinerary gone fishing? We are really into fishing and I am looking for people who have actually gone fishing, would like to know what port they fished at, what they caught..any info would really be so helpful..thanks
