Finally.....Platinum!!!

Recommended Posts

Yeah, katstoy, I'm still a lowly Gold member for this upcoming cruise, but I'll be Platinum next time (whenever that is).

I've got VIP Latitudes status with NCL, but since I can live without Freestyle cruising, I'm more inclined to stick with RCI and aim for Diamond status.

I'm PLATINUM!!!:D :D Now I can book my next cruise(I wanted to wait so I could use that balcony discount). Anyone else become platinum recently?

It's really fun to move up the C&A ladder. Just remember that when you are waiting for your 10th cruise credit in order to turn diamond, you can go ahead and book a future cruise while still platinum. As long as you turn diamond before the day of departure you can call and they will give you the correct discount.

I booked my upcoming (next year) Panama Canal cruise last August while on the Enchantment which was my diamond cruise. The loyalty ambassador applied the Platinum discount at booking but as soon as the diamond credit showed in my account, I simply called RCI customer service and they made the appropriate adjustment to my discount - a full $300 off a balcony for a 10 night diamond discount. Yes, the discount increases with a 9 day cruise or more.

Have fun at your new C&A level. Even the on board discount coupons get better. Oh that's right, you will have fun no matter what...you are the fungirl. :D

CONGRATS!!!!!!

I became platinum after my Radiance cruise in March!:D Of course I booked another cruise right away! I was surprised when I returned to my cabin on the 2nd day of my Vision cruise last week to see a welcome letter from C&A with my Platinum pin attached! I guess the LA of each cruise must keep track of these things......it was a nice surprise.

Lucky you! I think some LAs keep better track than others. I never did get a platinum pin. :( Of course the LA on board didn't give me my diamond pin either. I asked RCI for it, after being encouraged to do so by another cc member, and they sent it to me. I didn't even know there was a platinum or diamond pin until someone here mentioned it.

That really would be a nice surprise to find a welcome letter and pin in the cabin. Congrats on your new level. :)

wow that is a nice discount.

Since Princess is leaving FLL in early april next year we are looking at other lines...it kinda stinks because we are both only 29 and we will be going on our 7th Princess cruise this year.

I guess living in fl RCL has a lot of options including three and four days cruises....Maybe its time to start working on our status with RCI.

I have a question regarding credits. We did our first cruise last June; balcony stateroom with a pull out sofa for our two daughters. I think it was considered a Superior. (Mariner 7648) We became C&A members right after that cruise, and it's showing that we currently have 2 cruise credits.

Our next cruise, we have 2 interior rooms booked. I'm assuming that will be 1 credit. Our daughters will be next door in an interior, but will I get credit for their room, or do they? I guess my question is, will I get 2 more credits for this upcoming cruise? (They're enrolled in the Jr. C&A program)

It really is nice to live in FL for that very reason. Those fun, quick getaways add up. And even RCI's smaller (relatively speaking) ships are quite classy for their age.

But to top it off, not only do I get the $300 discount, for making the reservation on the ship, I get $200 ship board credit for the booked cruise. And then I get another $200 ship board credit for being a stock holder. These high discounts and ship board credits are only for the longer sailings, but there are still nice discounts and credits for the shorter cruises, too.

That $700 total is a nice total discount for the entire cruise. We do always have a bill on the ship for pics and drinks etc... so it's not like we are spending the ship board credit because it's there. It really is discounting what we will already spend which we noticed seems to average close to $100 a day. Those expensive photos and the expensive wine that DH likes add up. :)

I've always wondered if RCI is giving an extra cruise credit to everyone just for signing up as a C&A member. I got 3 cruise credits for my JS on my first cruise of 7 nights. You will only get 1 cruise credit for your next cruise even though you have 2 rooms booked. Each person gets their own credit for their own room, no matter who purchases the room. Your credits will accumulate separately. But the status level of every person in your household - living at your address - will have the status of the person with the highest level no matter how little they have cruised. As long as the person has cruised just once and has a C&A number, they get the highest level although their cruise credits won't reflect it. I've cruised the most in my family so everyone gets the diamond level because of me - even my younger daughter who just joined the junior program has diamond status from the start. Some people don't like this. But it keeps cruisers coming back to RCI for me so it must be working as intended. :)

O.K. maybe I'm a little thick. Can you please explain this to me. I have been on 4 cruises. My upcoming Mariner cruise will be my fifth cruise and will make me Plantinum. I am sailing with my dd (2 cruises) and ds (1 cruise). Hubby isn't going on this trip. Hubby has been on 2 cruises. Does this mean after the Mariner cruise we will all become Platinum? Just curious since hubby and I are booked on Freedom for next year and wondering if we will both get Platinum credit. Hope my question isn't to confusing. Thanks for the help. Wanda

We received a little taste of what it's like to be platinum or diamond last year on our first cruise. My parents are diamond and we were cruising with them. There was a line for boarding, and once we got up to the desk where they issue your sea pass, we were escorted right up to the desk with my parents. It was pretty nice. :)

This time, we'll be standing in line. I have to say though, they seem really efficient in getting you through. I remember they had a lot of people working that desk.

That would be a nice surprise. But while we're on the subject, I never received a platinum C & A card. The one I have still shows as gold.

Did anyone else receive a platinum card or are they no longer sending them?

No, this is not confusing at all. YES! :) You will all be platinum after you alone have 5 cruise credits. You will all receive the perks of being platinum - even the kids although we don't yet know exactly what the kids benefits are from experience since that program is rolling out any day now.

I don't think they are giving out new cards anymore. Even when they sent me the diamond pin and luggage tags, there was no new card issued.

I kind of figured that, but I just wanted to make sure. I guess the pins have taken the place of the cards.

Thanks for your help.

;) When were on the Majesty in April, 2007, we booked another cruise (6 nights on the Jewel in December, 2007 with a balcony). They did not use my crown & anchor number on the booking, although they had it. I received a $100 discount (resident) and a $100 OBC I assume due to booking while on board), but nothing special (due to platinum member) that I could tell. Does that mean I should have gotten another $100 credit.

We will be Platium after our January 2008 Enchantment cruise. Now if January would just hurry up :p and get here. This is the first time I heard about the Pins, so that's a nice surprise. Thanks for sharing.

Seriously?? Can you clarify, $200 for stock holder, $200 for the "booked cruise"??, and $300 for ?C&A status??

Seriously! Anyone who holds at least 100 shares of stock in RCI can submit their brokerage statement by fax, mail or email and get on-board credit for each and every cruise - for the one cabin they are booked in - not other cabins they may have booked for family members. You can read how much here - http://www.rclinvestor.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=103045&p=irol-shareholderbenefit

And if you book another cruise on board, depending on the length of the cruise, you can get up to another $200 on board credit for the upcoming cruise you just booked. (There is a thread about the "nextcruise" on-board booking program which explains how extra easy RCI has made it to not commit to which cruise you want to take just yet)

Then if you are diamond or diamond plus, you get the a balcony discount right off the top. $300 is the highest discount for a cruise of 9 nights or longer. This does not require a JS or higher - just any balcony will do.

You are allowed to use all of these discounts/credits together on one cruise. I think these are fabulous deals. If RCI cruises and ships were no good - the discounts wouldn't keep me coming back. But since I love even their smaller ships and service, it keeps me motivated to come back for me...that's for sure. :)

I read the FAQ and am interested for sure. It says I just have to give them my confirmation number and current statement confirming share ownership. If, after the credit is applied, and I sell my shares, would the credit be removed?? I mean, how would they know I sold them?

What's to stop someone from buying shares, getting the credit and then selling the shares? In my case, the credit is $250 as I'm going on a 14 day cruise. With my brokerage, I can buy and then sell for a total commission of only $50. Assuming I didn't lose or gain on the share price, I'd get a $200 net credit just for the effort. Is this correct?

Also noticed this: This benefit is offered exclusively to shareholders that directly own a minimum of 100 shares of Royal Caribbean

Cruises Ltd. at time of booking.

Will they still give me the credit if I buy the shares now considering I COULD cancel and rebook if need be?
