I hope you can dock in town, in St. Petersburg. We were out by the terminal, and that building is the single most depressing structure I have ever seen. I think a big reason the Soviet Union fell was that people just couldn't stand any more architecture like that.

The guards checking your passport on the way through could stand a few lessons in customer service. They still have such a grim demeanor. One actually smiled at us, and we never saw her again.

well as far as temperature yes some evenings and early morning a light jacket is nice.

Just back from Moscow and boy was it hot 34 degrees celicius in moscow today. But even with the heat it was a wonderful day. Kremlin was great to see as well as red square. There is just so much to see and only so much time to see it all. well its now 11:20 pm and was up at 5:30 to leave ship for Moscow before 7 am. So will write more tomorrow and answer any more questions.

RachelG, Yes, it is a very long day to Moscow. You get up and leave the ship around 7:15 AM, drive to the StP airport. Take an hour flight to Moscow. Drive about an hour into the Kremlin. Tour there, eat lunch, visit a new cathedral then to Red Square. (That was our day last year, but we had to wait until the end of the day to get into Red Square. The announcement of the Olympics was that day and thousands of people were in the square waiting for the word.) Then you drive through rush hour traffic to get back to the airport. Then fly back to StP. We got back to the ship after 10PM and had a late dinner in La Verranda.

You have to weight the pros and cons. I loved the day and know it will most likely be my only visit to Moscow.
