Boozebabe Posted April 9, 2008 #51 Share Posted April 9, 2008 We are having a family wedding on the Liberty of the Seas and I'd love to make a sign for the doors of all our cabins using the magnetic sheets. Does anyone know if the doors on the Liberty are metal or wood? Thanks! You could make some really cute signs for a wedding. Add some tulle for a bridal veil, some silk flowers and some fake wedding rings etc. Make a sign identifying the maid of honor and other wedding party members. Fun tack will work on wood or metal doors. Or use low tack masking tape and tape it all around to look like a frame. Just be aware that there can be some very mischevious kids and adults on-board who might vandalize them.
RosieC Posted April 9, 2008 #52 Share Posted April 9, 2008 I think you have to put them on a site where you can get the http address then you just click on insert image in the box you type your message in and put the http address in the box that comes up .... KatieGator Posted April 9, 2008 #53 Share Posted April 9, 2008 These are some really cute ideas! I'm going order the Honeymoon room decoration package for our upcoming cruise (one less thing to deal with, just hit "confirm order") but I can definitely see myself decorating our door on future cruises. Anything that helps me find my room faster, I'm all for!
AZPam Posted April 10, 2008 #54 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Ok im thinking for the Windmills and Tulip River cruise of Holland and Belgium we have in April im gonna get a picture of a winmill and tulip and paste them on cardboard and make signs for your door hahaha with the date etc lol Rosie, I did a Christmas Markets river cruise a few years ago and the river boat (GCT) decorated our doors with Christmas stockings. We started putting little treats in the stockings on other doors as kind of a secret santa type of thing. So much fun we are doing that trip again this year! As for all who have thought about leaving paper and pens out for notes, you might want to rethink it. I did it once and you wouldn't believe some of the obscene notes we got back. Wasn't worth it and took the fun out of it. I've also had things removed from our doors, so not sure I will be decorating in the future.
RosieC Posted April 10, 2008 #55 Share Posted April 10, 2008 how much fun would that be lol. Great Pam!! ... I think as i said im gonna go to the dollar store and get four things like they have for parties like a Palm tree, a pink pelican lol such as that and take them with me and maybe add a bit to them to personalize them and then stick them on the doors ahaha.... i agree i would never put a note pad on the door ... i also dont put names or sex as with it being 8 ladies travelling we dont want everyone knowing there at two females in the cabin alone and their names ... right .....lol now you guys all know that but none of you are psycho killers ahahhahah. nickie218 Posted April 11, 2008 #56 Share Posted April 11, 2008 This is a pic of the door signs I made, I found a porthole image in Clipart and then just added the names to it, it was REALLY helpful in finding who was in each cabin, I also purchased glittery flamingo's from my local party store :
Takenmommatoalaska Posted April 12, 2008 #57 Share Posted April 12, 2008 My husband and I took our grandsons on an Eastern Carribbean cruise on the Glory a few years ago. They were 9 and 10 yrs old. I decorated the door with a big Sunshine that opened up half way, that I got at Party City. I also put all different colored flip flop cut outs on the door. Our cabin could be seen from the elevator. When you stepped out of the elevator and looked to the right there was "our" door. Other passengers stopped us and told us they were so happy with the door decorations because it was also helpful to them as well. They knew they either headed toward the decorated door or headed away from the decorated door. When we got back to our room after being in St Thomas our door was full of notes and flip flop magnets that other passengers bought for our door to thank us for doing such a great job in helping them out... I am going on an Alaskan Cruise in June and I already have all my door decorations for it....
nickie218 Posted April 13, 2008 #58 Share Posted April 13, 2008 The people on our floor really enjoyed the signs....they kept asking why we were so special, we had to explain that we brought the stuff onboard. Carnival will decorate your cabin for a price...but this was a Costa ship
RosieC Posted April 13, 2008 #59 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Im wondering if it would go over on a river cruise lol the ships only hold about 150 lol so im sure we will find our cabin. lol
crusinrita Posted April 17, 2008 #60 Share Posted April 17, 2008 We had a new "window scape" each day... The crew and passengers looked up each day to see what we had instore for them... We used the "towel" critters, sunglasses, Tea shirts...it was fun.. Our grandchildren loved it too!

TorOntCruiser Posted May 15, 2008 #62 Share Posted May 15, 2008 This reminds me of a very humourous prank I pulled on a couple of actresses from "The Young and The Restless" a few years back. These two had already had a long day when they got into my limo to go to yet another public appearance. Without telling them I put the "Just Married" sign on the back of my limo and off we went. On hour 45 minute drive we had all sorts of people honking as they went by and giving my passengers the thumbs up or just waving at what they thought were the newlyweds. As it was there were four women and one very gay guy in the back of the limo. Once I told them about the sign they were all having a good laugh and were all set to go! The next day with the same car load I took a magic marker and put a big line through married and wrote "Divorced" above it. We got lots of strange looks and lots of laughs. We saw one Asian gentleman with his car decorated for a wedding and he was NOT impressed at all! I'm taking mom on an upcoming cruise and I wonder what she'd say if I did something like this on our cabin door? MiddleEarth Posted May 20, 2008 #64 Share Posted May 20, 2008  too funny!!I found this picture of the princesses and I am putting it on a door sign with the caption : HAHA made you look! _________ I copied the picture and sent it to my daughter. She replied: Seen it :) The girl who drew it works for Disney as a face character; Alice in Wonderland, to be exact. Her name is Bri, and she's studying to go into animation, apparently. She draws pretty cute giraffes, too.

We're going on June 7 on the Diamond Princess and I promise I won't use your ideas if you are on the same cruise! :D We are traveling with two other couples that have never sailed before and we are all celebrating our 25th wedding anniversaries. Lisae74 Posted August 27, 2008 #70 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Can anyone confirm the cabin doors on Princess are magnetic? I'm liking the idea of the magnetic letters. That way people can leave us messages as well as us leaving little comments. I have to tell you about a stupid thing we do when we go on holiday, it kinda fits into this thread (well almost!)...................We have a cuddly toy monkey (called Monty) who we take on holiday with us. He has magnetic hands, tail and eyes so that you can pose him covering his eyes with his hands etc etc. Anyway, it also means that you can stick him to metal using his hands. We had such a laugh on our last cruise, we used to pose him in our cabin each day and our Cabin Steward used to move him around. We couldn't wait to get back to our cabin at the end of the day to see where we'd find him and what he'd be doing. We bought him some outfits out of a kids' clothes shop and amongst all that he has a pair of speedos. One morning we hung him in the shower wearing his speedos and when we got back at night he was sitting on a bed with a towel wrapped round him! Another time we hung him from the ceiling with a fresh fruit request hooked round his tail. When we got back that night there was a bowl of bananas waiting for us. Sometimes we take him out with us and we have photos of him with various crew in various locations. He hung behind the pool bar next to a bottle of banana liquer one day. It's a great conversation starter as people always ask us why we've got him. We also buy him a pin badge from each country he's visited with us. It's at this point that I should point out that I'm 34 years old and not 10........I'm going now before I embarass myself any further!

BuffaloGirl3 Posted September 15, 2008 #72 Share Posted September 15, 2008 I wanted to give you guys a report on my door decorating mishaps! I decorated my door last week on the Carnival Liberty. Day 1 - I put up a big pink flamingo and tied pink and purple bows on the neck (it was soooooo cute). I also took sunshine stickers and placed them in the "sky" over the flamingos head. We went to dinner, toured the boat, etc. and I came back to the room for bed. My DH went back out to visit the casino and when he returned the flamingo was GONE!!!! It didn't even last 24 hours. The next day everyone, even the cabin steward asked me what happened. I put out an APB for my flamingo - it was never found. Day 2 - I was still bummed about my flamingo and complained to everyone that asked. I couldn't bring myself to redo the door that day. Day 3 - Because I am always well prepared, I had more goodies for the door. I pulled out more sunshine stickers and a crafty sign a fellow cruiser made for me and placed it on the door. It did not have nearly the same effect as the flamingo, but still allowed me the opportunity to express myself. I left that up on the door until Day 5. Day 5 (around midnight so it was technically Day 6)- DH's B-day!! :D I pulled out the happy birthday signs, curly ribbon, balloons and added more sunshine stickers. The door looked great! By the end of day 6 the "happy birthday" sign and half of the balloons were GONE! It really upset me that people failed to work. I was persistant though and failed to give up. Overall I will decorate my door on the next cruise, but I'll be sure to bring plenty of supplies incase this ever happens again.

The last few cruises everything I put up walked off, never to be seen again. It's sad that somebody can ruin some harmless fun for others. I hope you had a good time anyway. Nceremuga Posted May 22, 2009 #75 Share Posted May 22, 2009 We are booked on an Oasis of the Seas cruise for April 2010. Its actually a familymoon, which is our honeymoon but we are inviting family and friends to join us on the cruise. Since we have so many groups of cabins we are going to be making a door decoration that lists all the places that are popular on the ship such as pool, casino, windjammer, on land. and then have an arrow that can turn to each location so we can find people in our party faster on this HUGE ship or they can find us.
