Rare Lois R Posted October 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2007 :) :D Hi...just returning from Mercury I want to let those folks who book inside cabins know about 1043 on the Penthouse Deck. It was wonderful. Quiet, forward, just a short walk to the stairway that leads up to the Spa area. It is across from the Royal Suite too. It is one of the sideways cabins and though it is probably the same size as the regular ones it has a larger feel to it!:D I would book this again in a heartbeat!:)
RickT Posted October 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Thanks for the tip. Always good to know about the good cabins on board. I've never stayed in a sideways cabin (always avoided them for some unknown reason) so I was interested in your thoughts. Perhaps I'll try one next time. Rare Lois R Posted October 21, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Hi Rick:) it really is a good cabin and I have one on Century in December too:D I will be glad to follow up with that one as well. That is 8145 and it has the same deckplan look to it as 1043 so I am thinking it is the same set up!:)
TravelingT Posted October 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Also, on the Mercury, cabins 1137, 8253 and 8257 are sideways but have about 40 more feet of space than a regular inside cabin. Search the boards and you will finds posts with pictures.
curiouscat Posted October 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2007 Lois Looks a bit too forward for me... I prefer midship or aft. Didn't you get some motion in those cold PNW seas...? Where is the buffet for breakfast and lunch? Is it the one by the pool or another location? Thanks CuriousCat

Thanks CuriousCat Hi..Anne? right?....it is a bit forward but it was very smooth... honestly, I would book it again in a heartbeat:D We had 1 rough day but it was not too bad during the night for me....turned rougher during the daytime so I did stay mid ship..having hot tea in Cova:) and that was only for 1 day. All the other days were wonderful! As for the other 6 nights I slept fabulously...is that a word?;) No excess motion but I don't mind a bit of it....lets me know I am on a ship LOL Upstairs one level is the buffet....you can either walk down the hallway and go up from the center or just walk up the steps near the cabin and walk across the pool area and there is the buffet. There is also a grill area..burgers, dogs, etc....all of that is up only one deck from this cabin. If you walk aft you will find the pizza and pasta station too.....everything was good:) I see you leave on Nov 2nd.......have a WONDERFUL TIME:)!!!! Do you have any pics? I haven't heard anymore about this type and thought I had to wait till you went in December! thanks for the encouragement. For those that say you can see pictures if you search, i've tried and can't come up with anything. If someone can point me in the right direction...

curiouscat Posted October 22, 2007 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Lois Not Anne, but thanks for the info. I have an inside cabin near the aft stairway... looks like it leads up to the Pool....which I know we won't be using brrrrr I am really excited as this is my first X cruise... booked last minute and only had Inside or forward Oceanview... rather be aft:D I'm just psyched for this itinerary.... and it's a reunion cruise. My cabin mate is in the cabin's club so it should be interesting. CuriousCat
tuggers Posted October 22, 2007 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2007 I book every kind of cabin but when I do insides, the sideways ones are my favorites. Just watch out for the poles! Some of the sideways ones have the 'stripper' (:D) poles!

Sharon Hi Sharon, what did I have to do? Well, I had the same cabin for both legs:D so no need to move anything at all. You will have to get off the ship but come back up in about 30 minutes. They will give you a letter about meeting about 9:45am and I was back on before 10:30...it was neat. I stayed around Guest Relations and spoke with them....there was nothing much to do on the ship;) If it had been nice outside I would have gone to Pike's Market but it was nasty outside at that point. It was very easy..no worries!!!:D Have a wonderful time!!!

Ahhh...you are sharing a cabin then? I have done that twice, though both gals were very nice I just prefer my own space.:) Have a wonderful time:D

Those specific inside cabins are over 200 sq feet then?Hmmmm.....learn something new every day:) Thanks for the tip!!!!! Would you happen to know if they are as large on GALAXY??? There are two that I have seen on the deck plans for the Galaxy, 1137 and 8257. I read a post that said there was one more, 82**, not sure of the number. If you search the Celebrity board with 1137, you should get several posts, that is how I saw pictures of the cabins. I have this booked for a circle hawaii on the Mercury for December 2008. Happy Searching.

Longboysfan Posted October 22, 2007 #18 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Thanks Lois. Was it laid out any different from the regular cabins?
JC Butterfly Posted October 22, 2007 #19 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Thanks Lois. Was it laid out any different from the regular cabins? I was wondering this too. What made it feel more spacious. Like when you walk into the door, what do you see? Larger closet space? Bigger bathroom? I've avoided rooms like this before but your post has me wondering . . . CaribbeanCrazy Posted October 22, 2007 #20 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Lois, When looking at the deck plans from the Celebrity brochure...what is the large white area by 1043...do you know? It is on a lot of the decks usually near the elevators...sometimes between the cabins. I always wonder what is in those spots. I chose cabin 9175 for our spring/08 Mercury cruise. Nothing but cabins above and below us. Also no unexplanied white area:eek: I hope I made a good choice.:) CaribbeanCrazy
Rare Lois R Posted October 22, 2007 Author #21 Share Posted October 22, 2007 Hi:) I wish I had a photo but I don't:( When you open the door instead of having the bed straight ahead of you there is space and then the desk (sort of at an angle). The bed is to the right (my cabin was portside). The bathroom and closet were (in my opinion) further away from the bed. It is hard to explain on the internet:eek:. I just know when walking in the door it seemed roomier to me:D maybe it is just all psycho mumbo jumbo???
