So when they suggest attire

I'm with Married on Enchantment - we dress for dinner and then if we have time we go back to our cabin and get comfortable so we can; go gambling, take in a show, go for a drink(s) in one of the lounges, meet friends in the promenade, go up on the deck and sit by the pool or just walk around the ship.

Shoot--if I take the time to dress up and look GREAT, why would I change into regular clothes???? (If you buy eveningwear that fits, and is comfortable, it's no big deal to keep them on!)

We usually dont change RIGHT after, we have a drink, sit and talk a little, then change. We do the portraits after dinner usually too. Our formal wear fits fine, it's just a little more comfortable walking around and sitting at the casino slots and tables when you are in more comfy clothes. Too each his own;)

We usually stay in our fancy duds until we go to bed - I'm not one for changing 3 times a day or night.

I'm with Jean. I rarely get a chance to dress up, so I stay in my formal stuff and boogie the night away.:p It's so much trouble to pack all that stuff - I'm going to make use of it!;)

Ditto 100%. If I get my hair and makeup done and I'm wearing a formal gown, I want to enjoy it! I stay out until I can't keep my eyes open anymore.

The simple answer is that the suggested attire is ONLY for the dining room. The specialty restaurants don't even follow the same suggested attire. You can change after dinner into something more comfortable. The theatre and clubs do not go by the suggestion.

Actually I noticed that on the Voyager two weeks ago, there was no "suggested" attire for the dining room. It was either formal for formal night or casual for the other nights. Not once in the compass did it say "suggested" attire for the dining room.

I'm all for dressing up for formal night, but don't really have room for my suitcoat. Would it be appropriate to wear dress paints, dress shirt, tie and a suit vest and leave the jacket home???? If I did that, I could just pack a small bag and not a huge pice of luggage.

Yes, but you might want to leave the dress paints at home and just bring dress pants ;) :p

You can wear whatever you're comfortable in after dinner, some people go to the windjammer for dinner specifically because they don't want to dress up. So anything goes, anything is acceptable.

I personally would skip the formal dress completely, but we like the dining room so we comply, and as soon as dinner is over i find my most comfortable pants to change into. (usually the ones with elastic in the waistband to accomodate the huge meal I just ate.):D

That is neither here nor there. The question was do you have to stay in the evening attire for the entire evening, or just in the dining room? And as I stated, you only have to dress formal in the dining room, and not the other venues

You could alway wear the jacket on the plane. It would solve the packing problem.

As sk8man stated, the "suggested" attire is for the evening(at least that's what it said in the daily compass), although a lot of folks change after dinner. As for me, it all depends on what I'm doing after dinner whether I ditch the jacket or not.

Sorry but the suggested attire isn't for the "evening" it's for the dinner.

And although I LOVE LOVE LOVE dressing up. The first thing I do after dinner is to get rid of the strappy heels. They usually kill my feet by the end of dinner anyway ;)

We don't do the shows so we change and head to the casino.

And yes, I bring at least 3 outfits per day...that goes for me, my hubby and the kids. And no, I don't mind bringing all of those clothes. :D

The attire is always listed in the Compass with the dinner info
