Barbados is the island we are most looking forward to visiting and have warmest feelings about, because of our shared history of cricket and the great cricketers of the past from the West Indies.

 

I remember getting a cab in New York once and as soon as the driver recognised my accent, he talked about cricket all the way into Manhattan. It was obvious he missed cricket and his homeland.

Pullmantur's 'new' EMPRESS sailed into Barbados yesterday

- this ship used to be Royal Caribbean's "Empress of the Seas"

until a recent re-do.

 

Here she is in her shiny new livery!

Today's Smaller Ship is Spirit of Adventure.

 

She sailed into Barbados this morning around 7:07 a.m.

and Yours Truly did the honours, as usual!

'The Love Boat' came in today..

 

Discovery was one of two sister ships used in the 1970's TV series

We sailed on her three times as Pacific Princess - she remains one of my favorite ships (along with Artemis, the former Royal Princess).

Druke I: Actually, Discovery is not the old Pacific Princess. Discovery is the old Island Princess, which was also used on the show occasionally.

 

The former Pacific Princess is now called Pacific and operated by CVC in Brazil (during the Southern summer) and by Quail Cruises in Spain (during the Northern summer).

 

We have just returned from a med cruise with M/V Pacific and it was great ... I've published a member review here at CC.

MARCO POLO sailed in yesterday - under cover of near-darkness :cool:

but I managed to get a few marginal-quality pics of her.

 

They aren't the sharpest, I'm afraid

but hopefully the lighting and mood will make up for that..
