citcatt1 Posted April 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I have a cruise booked for the Fantasy June 28th. My problem is I've heard that the suites aren't that great, and my pvp said I'd get a $900.00 refund if I got an OV instead. I really love a balcony because I get up really early and it's like an extra room. But is it worth that much???
cruisin'4aboozin' Posted April 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2008 So did you book a suite or a balcony cabin? Big difference in price...
firefly333 Posted April 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2008 $900 buys a lot of fun on the cruise, you could do every excursion and drink and go to the spa on that kind of money. We did a OV on Ecstasy for that very reason, no balconys you have to spring for a suite and thats more than I would pay for it. We can go top deck early in the morning and sit out. I dont pay 900$ for a 7 day cruise with a balcony.
cruisin'4aboozin' Posted April 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2008 It sounds like you have a suite booked based on the $900 difference from the OV. If you really want the balcony, then just get the standard balcony cabin (8A-E). That should only be about $150 - $200 more than the OV.

Nothing in between. this is correct. OP: We just booked the Fantasy and although we usually try to have a balcony when we cruise, we opted for the OV this time. The suites were just too much more. The cruise is only 5 days so I just couldn't see how having an OV would kill me for a short cruise. If I were you, I'd take that $900 and put it toward another cruise. That's a nice hunk of dough. citcatt1 Posted April 8, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Yes it's a *suite* but really only the size of a balcony stateroom on the big *honkers* lol I figured I'd do a survey and if more people said "take the money" I'd do it, I'm on the fence at this point but I have to pay my last $50.00 by April 29th. cruisin'4aboozin' Posted April 8, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Amen to that! I'd rather have 2 OV cruises than 1 balcony cruise!!
firefly333 Posted April 8, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I have the Fantasy booked for only $600 for both of us :) yikes on $900 more. Iv had the booking for a while though. Iv also got a cheap Ecstasy price, but been booked for jan 09 since about april of 07, a year and a half ahead, prices only been going up up up, glad I booked early. firefly333 Posted April 8, 2008 #13 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Wow thats a good price is that for OV or IS? Inside, but its $30 more pp than I paid for our last 5A port hole cabin on Ecstasy the last time, so price is up. Now they want even more, lucky I booked way back. Cruzman Posted April 8, 2008 #14 Share Posted April 8, 2008 So you will know what a cat 11 balcony looks like on a Fantasy Class ship.
gypsyrose Posted April 8, 2008 #15 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I love a balcony but wouldn't pay the suite price on a fantasy ship. The OV rooms are fine. Take the $900, unless of course money is no problem for you.
woodey Posted April 8, 2008 #16 Share Posted April 8, 2008 My Vote is the OV and the savings....you can take another cruise or slap some extra money into the bank...
mom2girls Posted April 8, 2008 #17 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I've been on the Fantasy. I would certainly go with an OV room. I love my balcony rooms, but not for an extra $900! The OV rooms are nice as well. The windows are almost big enough to sit in.
sheri18 Posted April 8, 2008 #18 Share Posted April 8, 2008 go with the OV and keep the extra money..
suzyjack Posted April 8, 2008 #19 Share Posted April 8, 2008 This is like a game show and we are the audience- Take the money!:D I have been on one other cruise and the only thing I did in my room was change, shower and sleep. Either way, have a great time!
Travelitis Posted April 8, 2008 #20 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I like balconies too, but take the money! It's not worth that much.
pe4all Posted April 8, 2008 #21 Share Posted April 8, 2008 No deal - take the money. While I have never sailed the Fantasy class ships, that is too much money to "upgrade" to a suite for such a short cruise. Maybe if were only a few hundred... that is why we have never had a suite - only balcony cabins. Price difference was always at least $1000 (usually more like $2000) for the 4 of us to go with a sute. I'd rather be a bit squished for 7 days and put that money towards something else. At least we have a balcony!
tinlizzy Posted April 8, 2008 #22 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I love the balcony also but have to agree that the price difference is enormous - and you are only going to an OV.
citcatt1 Posted April 8, 2008 Author #23 Share Posted April 8, 2008 You guy's are great! I think I WILL go with OV....This does seem like a game show like one poster said....and I feel like I might pick the wrong door!! We will be so busy spending the money, we won't be in our room anyway.... flowerchild Posted April 8, 2008 #24 Share Posted April 8, 2008 The suites are so small, I would do the OV. If I am going to splurge on a suite, it has to be a nice one. Save the money for something else.
cruisebie Posted April 8, 2008 #25 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Another vote for take the money & run! $900 will buy a whole lot of fun in shore excursions, foo-drinks, etc!
