dankevork Posted April 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Okay, so I have not seen a thread on this topic. What is your favorite activities organized by the crew staff both during the day and the night? Obviously bingo is going to be near the top of the list, but what else? On past cruises I have loved the ping pong tournaments, pool activities....What is your favorite??
Amy G Posted April 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 24, 2008 I love the dance classes!
Cruisin' Chick Posted April 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Not into bingo, so it's not on my list at all. For me, a perfect day at sea would include a competitive trivia match and some time outside reading a good chick lit book. I think my hubby would have an additional activity or two (including playing guitar) .
Rare Shelly97060 Posted April 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2008 I love the horse races... such silly good fun. I also like passenger feud. I like to go and pair up with people I have never met to form a team. Great way to meet people and have fun. :)
Arsinoe Posted April 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted April 24, 2008 My perfect day involves reading a good book, writing on my laptop at some bistro-style table while drinking a pot of tea, listening to some good chamber musicians, maybe hearing an interesting lecture. You will not find me at bingo--though my mother might be there. I was once lured into some trivia quiz, but only under duress (we won, though). Times Prince Posted April 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted April 24, 2008 We always play Ping Pong, but our favorite onboard activity is dancing - both classes and in the evening. We also try to catch the ice carving exhibition. We don't gamble, so have never frequented bingo or the casino.
LoveSanibel Posted April 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted April 24, 2008 We love trivia and had a riot at Princess Newlywed game and Princess Millionare. We were not "contestants" just watched, but it was so funny! The Newlywed game had 3 couples, one married 3 yrs, one married 12 years and one married 25 years. tropicgirl3 Posted April 24, 2008 #8 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Some of the casino tournaments are really fun (blackjack, slots)! We have also enjoyed the afternoon tea which features some great musicians and yummy desserts. And of course...you can't beat a relaxing day by the pool listening to music, joining in on some games, or just RELAXING!
Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted April 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 24, 2008 I'm not a big activities person, but I loved Elevator Roulette with Frankie when we were on our month long Diamond Princess cruise. It's a little wild, which may be why I don't see it repeated on other cruises, but Frankie can get away with stuff like that.
mii Posted April 24, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 24, 2008 Once in awhile I will play trivia but the best activity is sometimes doing absolutely nothing but find a chair, get a cool drink or hot drink if it is cold and just people watch or if it is in Alaska enjoy the scenery going by. OhioDogLover Posted April 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 24, 2008 There is a lot of stuff we like, bingo, trivia, games in general, etc. We try to watch the Newlywed Game. That is absolutely hilarious and if you haven't seen it and aren't easier offended, you should go. I would never participate, but it sure is funny to watch. vickie_bernie Posted April 24, 2008 #12 Share Posted April 24, 2008 good thread mine is: enjoying a latte and people watching in the Atrium or sitting up on deck, reading my book, and listening to the band or meeting new friends and chatting with them or watching a movie at night under the stars and of course eating in the dining room

snowskier Posted April 24, 2008 #14 Share Posted April 24, 2008 The ship building contest was by far my favorite -- the Frog Princess was the best I've ever seen!

pwandersen Posted April 24, 2008 #16 Share Posted April 24, 2008 DW likes shopping onboard. On our May 7 sailing we plan to join exercise classes in the a.m. I used to enjoy daily steam baths in the spa, but will have to check whether they're still complimentary. The weather headed into Alaska isn't conducive to outdoor pools or sunbathing, but there are often indoor alternatives. We like the movie theaters on Princess ships. We've never purchased anything from the art auctions but sometimes find them entertaining anyway.
wizard-of-roz Posted April 24, 2008 #17 Share Posted April 24, 2008 We had a "box" making class and "origami", it was so much fun.....We also bring our own game of tridominoes and play our own tournaments in various lounges during sea days and whenever!!! Rare PescadoAmarillo Posted April 24, 2008 #18 Share Posted April 24, 2008 And what are the rules for this? Rules? What rules? There were supposed to be rules?;) We played it in the aft elevator section on the Diamond. I think there were 4 elevators back there. We would stand in front of the one we thought would arrive first. It was hard to tell...there might be one a floor or two away, but it wouldn't be the first to arrive. Once you chose one, you couldn't change. An elevator would open and we would let out this huge yell and cheer, and the people on the elevator would look dazed and very confused until they caught on. Then a lot of them joined us. It was a blast, and Frankie is like the Pied Piper on these things. We had prizes and everything. I guess this sort of activity only takes places on 30 night cruises with 19 sea days!:D

Rare KKB Posted April 25, 2008 #21 Share Posted April 25, 2008 Many activities mentioned so far are not MY fav!:p I like bingo, horse racing (I know, sounds nuts, but it is a hoot!), lounging at the pool w/ cocktails & conversation while watching pool games; Princess Idol, Newlywed Game, casino--especialy tournaments, dancing in the disco (DJ), maybe an occasional comedy show, tastings (beer, wine, tequila). Things we never do (at least so far)...workout (always have good intentions... ), dance lessons, lectures, lounge on balcony (only had one once; unfortunately looking at the ocean makes both of us queasy!:( ), MUTS, listen to bands (only one on DCL was to our taste), read a book (again...good intentions...but I do on the plane!), spa (I get mani/pedi and massage at home for around $50 TOTAL!), crafts. As you can see, I'm not much into relaxing on vaca (or life in general!;) ) Too much to see and do! But again...the beauty of cruising...you can do everything...or absolutely nothing......:D
billco Posted April 25, 2008 #22 Share Posted April 25, 2008 I like taking the Pilates and Yoga classes. They offer a discount if you buy both packages. I enjoy running around the Promenade Deck or the jogging track early in the morning. I like seeing how fast I can run up the stairs from Plaza to Riviera Decks. I enjoy looking out to sea as I run on the treadmills. I like afternoon Pizza or Afternoon Tea. I enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the dining room sharing a table with new people. cruisinbuddy Posted April 25, 2008 #25 Share Posted April 25, 2008 For us in '05, on the Golden P. they had a pub crawl. You get a peice of paper with squares on it, and every time you go to a bar, you get a stamp. Whenyou filled the card, 14 bars you go to the sports bar and get a t-shirt. It took us 4 days for the 1st t-shirt :D and 2 days to get the second.:D :D
