IMHO M35 is a great cabin, the other....would not be for me. I just got off of the Holiday 5/15 cabin M54. On the Holiday (which we loved btw) there is a vibration at the back end of the ship. Also, our table mates had an aft cabin on Upper deck and said it was okay until you go into port....guess it got quite noisy back there. That being said, have a great cruise, hope you love Holiday as much as we do!!:D

You may want to call CCL and ask why they placed your children so far away from you given the ages of the minors, and possibly see if they can get them closer if not next door to you.... probably won't happen this late in the game, but it just makes no sense why they would do this given the ages of the 2 minor children and CCL's policies. I am sure they are good children and not questioning that at all.....

I am sure it will all work out....

We booked our rooms back in early November along with a group. Up until today our reservations on the Carnival site always said TBD. We were told we would get an Ocean View room but they would not guarantee where the room would be on the ship (maybe I'm the one confused. This is my first cruise.) My kids are 21, 19 and 15.

I agree, very odd. It still sounds like the OP booked a guarantee cabin, since they were not told when they booked anything except they were guaranteed a OV.

The children are not old enough to be booked alone, it would be against Carnival's rules to allow the children to be booked this far from the parents, unless they actually booked one parent in each cabin.

I think the only way she could have gotten staterooms side by side was if she was willing to go to a higher deck.....

I know what happened because I had the exact same situation happen to me when I was booking my upcoming cruise. We are a party of 2 and 3, we wanted adjoining rooms on the Riviera deck, Oceanview cabins, nothing available, in order to get the adjourning rooms we had to go up to Main deck, this cost us around $100 per room extra.

We did book an adult in each cabin but we were told by the Carnival rep that once we checked in we could switch and that would not be a problem.

Reading all the comments regarding this, I just placed a call to my Carnival rep to get some things clarified.

Yep...that shouldn't be a problem. Just go to the purser's desk and ask for an extra key card for each room. Then you'll still be able to get into your kids' room if you need to.

My TA booked my kids in their own cabin and CCL has their ages etc. TA said that Carnival will allow if they are directly across the hall. I was a little worried about that since each cabin needs at least one person 25 or older. Very stupid policy cuz at 18 you can vote, get married, etc but you can't sleep without mommy:rolleyes: But I was concerned since CCL policy states kids can't be in their own cabin so I specifically asked my TA about it and she said it is okay if they are across the hall. I was there when she called CCL to make the booking and gave the kids DOB's while I was sitting there so I know it can be done.

6A guarantees are cheaper than booking 6B's so I think that is where the confusion came in by getting assigned rooms close together. I booked a 6C with a 4C picking my own cabins directly across from each other and paid the price for it.

Also, someone can correct me if I'm wrong but 5A's are the obstructed view ocean view rooms. 6A or higher will have no obstructed view.

You need someone age 25 or older in each cabin unless the cabins are side by side or across from each other.

You could switch sleeping and get a key from the purser's desk, but just be aware it isnt allowed if you tell them why you want an extra key to the other cabin.

Some how something went wrong if they told you its ok to have cabins that far apart. Thats why they booked one adult in each cabin, because its not allowed otherwise for the children to be by themselves. You wouldnt have any idea if they are out running in the halls or what.

All these answers were beginning to scare me like we did something wrong. I am just going with what the Carnival rep told us. I was not the person that put this trip together. I just called the Carnival rep to book. I was told we would be guaranteed two ocean view rooms but it would cost $100 per person more to book the rooms together because then I could select the rooms.

All these answers going back and forth were beginning to scare me.

I think I will take your advice and have a GREAT TIME and if I run into problems with my kids in one room and us in another, we will make a change then. My kids have always proven to be respectful and responsible. I had no reason to question there would be any problems.

Thanks for all your input!

Nope.....nothing wrong. We were all just a little confused as some things didn't add up. It all makes sense now. Hopefully they might be able to put you a little closer together. If not, your kids sound old enough to be down the hall from mom and dad with no problem. Have a great trip!:D

Have you tried calling your Carnival rep since you received the assignments and requesting them closer together?

This happened to me on my Conquest cruise 6/29. When we booked 2 cabins we were told that we could not get together. When the cabin assignments came, one cabin was on upper deck and the other was on verranduh deck.

I looked at many web sites and found many cabins together that were available. However, when I called CCL it cost me $250 to get another cabin on verranduh deck. (due to the fact that they upgraded our cabin)....this really doesnt seem on the level. I did send in some coupons for 100 off each room and a seething letter about this, and they honored the coupons. So it cost me 50 Whatchaall think?

When I booked my first cruise thru a site that advertises here, I called about the rate they showed on the site and they told me that Princess wouldnt let them assign cabins that close to sailing, that because I booked after final payment I had to let Princess assign the cabin. Never once was the word guarantee used.

I think TAs and some Carnival reps book guarantees for newbies like they did me and dont use that word, they just want the booking and use whatever words they think will make you book and pay.

I didnt know what a guarantee was until I came here to CC.

When we booked our cruise our PVP indicated that one person 25 years of age will need to be in each room unless they are next to or directly across from the parent cabin. Not a problem since these cabins were available. I did ask about booking guar. and he said it could not be done unless there was an adult 25 years of age or older available for each cabin. We opted to book selected cabins all together. We booked this cruise 2 months ago.

Do not worry about your children if they are responsible. I took my nephew and son at age 18 and had no worry, they are great young men. When you get on board, go to the pursers desk and get another key made to both rooms. You all keep your own Sign and Sail cards. Two of you will switch rooms from what you signed up for. These two will get the new card that will open the other door. You will now have a key to their room which is your sign and sail card and the one you switched with could open your door too. Go to the casino and have them punched and put on a lanyard. Have a great cruise. Some worry that their children will act up, I never had to worry and he is now a responsible adult making great money and going to college too. He always knew that if he got in trouble that dealing with me was going to be the worse thing he ever had to do. Never wrong with them being afraid to disappint you. I am still afraid to disappoint my dad and I am not a young Mom. Again have a great cruise and find the thread that says something about saying goodbye and read that. Those are words to cruise by. Esp. the last one for your husband and you.

If there are any passengers UNDER the age of 21, your PVP was correct... but as long as all guests in the room are a minimum of 21 years of age, the 25 year old rule DOES NOT APPLY.

If I am not mistaken, on the "Holiday" you have a sail and sign card -AND- a seprate room key.... unless they have changed their door locking system.

I hope the OP comes back to update us?

OK so I heard back from the PVP and she sticks with her original story. In order to get the rooms together we needed to pay $100 per person. We can change the rooms now for that $100 as well. She claims we are lucky to have a guaranteed room on the same floor. Most of the time they are put on different floors.

Like I said in one of my posts . . . I am glad we are atleast on the same floor. They are old enough and responsible enough to take care of themselves.

Don't worry about it. If the above poster is correct and the Sign and Sail card is not your key there is no problem. When you get to your rooms there will be keys and each of you will have the correct key to open the door to the room you will be sleeping in. Tell your room stewerd to put the beds together in the room you are sharing with your husband and they will do it. You know if you can trust your children to behave. I know I could always trust mine, he is not always sure though if he can trust me:eek: . Have a great cruise and try to find the post that I talked about earlier.

You are going to have a great cruise... once you book and sail... YOU WILL BE HOOKED !!!

Warning, when sailing on newer ships in the future, do not book a balcony or you will never look back to an oceanview !!! :D

Have a great cruise... I leave tommorrow morning for a flight to Tampa to board the "Inspiration" with clients and some new CC friends met on our roll call !!!

I was a little worried about that since each cabin needs at least one person 25 or older.

This is not true, but a very common misconception on these boards. Each cabin has to have everybody over 21 OR one person over 25. Two 21-year-olds can sail in a cabin together, a 22-year-old and a 20-year-old cannot (unless they are married).

Edited to add: Travel Angel beat me to it!

LOL :D

Correction to your post.... Passengers must be at least 21 years of age to sail....NOT OVER 21 years of age to stay in a stateroom !
