Rev. Joe Posted August 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I am new to RCCL and am looking at Freedom Of The Seas. I have sailed a few times on Disney and Celebrity. What is included in the price foodwise. I know the specialty restaurants are and Ben and Jerry's but what else? Does it cost anything to rent ice skates and to try the Flo-Rider? And last, what is there to do on Labadee? I have heard mixed reviews.

Here is what is included: Room Service Main Diningroom Windjammer Atrium cafe Buffets around the pool (if any) what is NOT included: Ben and Jerry's Specialty Restaurants Johnny Rockets I think that is it, I could be missing a few?? I am not sure about the ice skates?? Flow Rider there is not a charge, you just have to sign a waiver Labadee-We grabbed a beach chair and relaxed, watched the zip liners, had some food and bargained with the vendors at the indoor/outdoor market. You can get some good buys but you do have to bargain - don't pay full price
Rev. Joe Posted August 6, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Whats at the Atrium Cafe and is Sorrento's also included?
cruisingjon Posted August 6, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Whats at the Atrium Cafe and is Sorrento's also included? I believe the atrium cafe would be similar to the Cafe Promenade on the voyager class ships and it has bagels and sandwhiches and pizza among other things. It is a cafeteria style restaraunt with some great food, a very nice place to get a quick bite. The voyager and freedom class ships have a wonderful mall or city type of area down the center that is just awesome.
wrp96 Posted August 6, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 6, 2008 There is no charge to rent ice skates. You just need to wear long pants and socks. The things that aren't included: Ben & Jerry's Johnny Rockets Chops Portofino excursions alcohol specialty coffees (espresso, latte, etc) bottled water spa casino bingo There might be a few things that I'm missing but that is a fairly inclusive list of things there are extra charges for on the ship. Gonzo70 Posted August 6, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 6, 2008 No charge for ice skates. You do have to wear long pants to ice skate. The rock climbing is also no extra charge. Bring your own socks to the rock climbing and ice skating - they provide the skates and special shoes for rock climbing. As for beverages, all alcoholic drinks and sodas have a charge as does bottled water. There is milk, juice, coffee, tea, and tap water available for no extra charge. cb at sea Posted August 6, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 6, 2008 Think of Labadee as a lazy beach day--you don't have to do anything, really! There are several different beach areas (the 1st you come to will be crowded!) The ship serves a buffet BBQ lunch, and like on the ship, alcohol and sodas are extra. They have watersport equip. , but the "excursions" are "follow the leader"style--you can't rent a waverunner and do your own thing. You may come and go to Labadee (via tender) as you wish! Also, do they sell bottled water by the case or just individually? Thanks!
4cogscruzin Posted August 6, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I know we brought our own water on the Disney Magic. Can you bring your own water onto RCI ships?
rt1092 Posted August 6, 2008 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2008 You can bring anything non-alcoholic on board. But the water on the RCL ships tastes fine.
Rev. Joe Posted August 7, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted August 7, 2008 I bring water on for Port Days instead of Buying it on the ship. Saving the money.:D
AF-1 Posted August 7, 2008 #13 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Ice tea is free onboard ship. They normally set up an ice tea stand out by the pool. U can get ice tea in the windjamer; but if you are lounging by the pool u can get ice tea and coffee. I normally stop at a small market just before I get on ship and bring cokes onboard. U can bring sodas and water from the mini markets in port. Most of the time you will see a small store selling water and soda. I think RCI charges 2.50 for a coke. hope this helps

Nicely covered Wrona. :) The only thing that I would add is...if you are sailing in a suite, the specialty coffees in the concierge lounge are also free. megnsamsgracie Posted August 7, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Wait.. so I CAN bring soda and bottled water onboard? I thought RCI DIDNT Allow it? I would love 1 12pk of soda and 1 pk of bottled water!
Hamburg Avon Lady Posted August 7, 2008 #17 Share Posted August 7, 2008 Yes, it is allowed - however, you need a reasonable amount - not a case or two. Coke is the soda/pop on board and we are Pepsi people so we will bring some along. You can also get the travel packets of Crystal Lite, Kool-aid and some generic store brands - take up no space and then just mix in with your bottled water.
satxdiver Posted August 7, 2008 #18 Share Posted August 7, 2008 The ships that have a Johnny Rockets charge $3.95 per person I believe. If you are a return cruiser on RCI, there will be a coupon in your coupon book that covers the charge making it free. You will be charged for any drinks other than water, ice tea and coffee. Soda pop and water can be brought aboard in reasonable quantities. I have heard of pax checking their soda pop/water with their baggage without any problem but have never seen or done it myself. You should tip the room service delivery person. We usually give them two dollars. They will have a wine tasting one day with a $10/person charge. However your coupon book will have a coupon to waive the charge. We always enjoy tasting the wines and eating the munchies.
