yellowbird23 Posted January 15, 2015 #3426 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Currently it is about $600 a leg, but the prices have changed several times. Good price, but can't go anywhere any time soon. Just received biopsy results and have to have cancer surgery. Guess that comes first.

jjb415 Posted January 16, 2015 #3431 Share Posted January 16, 2015 Looks like no single supplement for the moment on the 2 Oct 2015 repositioning of the Explorer from Southampton->Barcelona. Wish I could report the same for the 14 days after that... (Barcelona->Dubai). -Holly who is going to bring a wetsuit and conquer that wave rider..... There hasn't been a single supplement on that sailing for quite some time. Myself plus many other solos have already booked :) Thanks for posting, the same deal is still available. :-)
RandoCalrissian Posted January 17, 2015 #3432 Share Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Holland America has lots (more than I can detail here) of longer sailings (14+ days) with no single supplement in Feb / March / (NOT April -- my mistake) in Asia / Asia -> Europe / South America. All of these are on the Rotterdam, Volendam or Zaandam. There are 7 on the Rotterdam or Zaandam from Asia for an all-in price under $100 / day for an inside (fare+tax+tip), with oceanviews for ~$10 more/day. There's another 20+ for <$120 / day all-in, including the southern tip of S.A. route from Santiago to B.A. via Cape Horn. Edited January 17, 2015 by RandoCalrissian Whoops - not April, only Feb/Mar

kat2009 Posted January 22, 2015 #3436 Share Posted January 22, 2015 I got a great single supplement rate on Carnival Dream for March 1, 2015. DaytonCruiser Posted January 22, 2015 #3437 Share Posted January 22, 2015 I saw that great casino rate. Its good to mention the special rates,so others aren't confused when they try to search for the same rate.
RandoCalrissian Posted January 22, 2015 #3438 Share Posted January 22, 2015 There also seems to be some 0% supplement deals on the new HAL Koningsdam for the Med in Spring 2016. You'd be paying a little bit more for the "new" ship, but still no supplement is a good thing! New is good, but for my budget, the Koningsdam's $220-$241/day is more than my budget will bear for a "cheap" HA cruise. The site I use to track these single rates is telling me that the Koningsdam's new solo oceanviews have an implied 25% solo supplement vs. regular oceanviews, and a spot check on HAL's site matches this. As you say though, much better than HAL traditional behavior of charging double. The Zaandam South America cruises mentioned in the above table got cheaper today - insides down by $200 and oceanviews by $300. This puts them at $1330-$1370 all-in (fare+tax+tips) or $95-$98/day. Tralfie Posted January 23, 2015 #3439 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Am I right that most supplement-free offers are for inside rooms? I suppose I should try an inside room at some point, although I'm SUCH a balcony lover. I find it hard to imagine not having one! RandoCalrissian Posted January 23, 2015 #3441 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Am I right that most supplement-free offers are for inside rooms? Most, but not always. It's unpredictable when and where - last September the Carnival Breeze had balconies for solos much cheaper than insides. Today, many HAL's longer cruises for this Feb/Mar are supplement-free in balconies and suites (see table I posted a few days ago - this is the case for most of these). I didn't mention it earlier because I didn't think there'd be much interest. You can also grab them very last minute. NCL Dawn 7 day cruise from New Orleans leaving in two days (Jan 25th) has a supplement-free balcony for $829.

Jana60 Posted January 25, 2015 #3443 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) Am I right that most supplement-free offers are for inside rooms? I suppose I should try an inside room at some point, although I'm SUCH a balcony lover. I find it hard to imagine not having one! Richard/tralfie No, on carnival I've been booking whatever category of room I want with no single supplement. I've noticed the cruises start offering the supplement free rooms about 3 months before the cruise. I don't usually see them available a year in advance. My philosophy is it doesn't matter whether there's a single supplement or not what matters is the total price of the cruise and that it is going where I want to go. So I just plug into the search engine at carnival # of passengers= 1, desired port of debarkation, desired length of cruise, desired date range and desired destination, and it brings up the cruises in order of price. I can then narrow it down to which ships I'm willing to sail on. You can then see the prices for the various categories of rooms and pick one. It doesn't really matter whether its supplement free or not if your desired room costs less for the total price.
