Positive things about Celebrity!

I love that there is never a line of more then 3 people at the guest relations desk and when I get to the front the agent is so friendly and willing to please. :)

I love that you can find someone to take a drink order almost anywhere, anytime. And I have to say, Celebrity has the best aft balconies at sea. (FV's)

I love the martini samplers (all six of them)

I love the wine stewards that actually know something about wine

I love the waffle bar and I really love bribing the room service staff to wait in line for me and bring strawberry waffles to my room. (Yes it can be done)

I love the fact that there are Assistant Maitre d's whose job includes ensuring great service.

Good evening,

My $0.02 : ( and it's C$ !! )

Celebrity has the best on board overall product, bar none, in its group.

It offers a certain refined class and elegance, without being overly .....high-nosed or stuffy.

The ''small touches'' that all previous posters ( thanks to all of you ) have described are what delineate Celebrity from its collegues, good as all of them are ( and they are, to be sure.)

It's got '' class !!! '':cool:

Its vessels are also quite well designed and visually pleasant to admire and sail on. Allowing for the imperfections always found on any vessel, its fleet is still comfortable to sail in.

Thanks for the OP for guiding us along a good thread.;)

And yes, Texmed; the waffles are to die for ...:D:cool:

Cheers

I read these boards everyday, and well it is getting a bit discouraging lately with all the negatives being brought up.

I wanted to start a thread that makes people thrilled about going on their next Celebrity cruise.

Let's write a thread with all the wonderful things there are about a Celebrity cruise.

I will start!

I love the smiles and polite service I receive from the staff!

I also love the melon Coladas they serve as drink of the day!

My list can go on and on but I would like to hear others positive things to say about their Celebrity experiences.

Looking forward to reading a thread that is many, many pages long!

Jan

Hi Jan,

Thank you for starting this thread. I started to wonder if I choose right cruise line for my very first cruise (hope it's not my last) after I've read so many negative posts.

I choose X for their quality of food and service (cold towel) after reading many cruise books.

Since this is my first cruise, I'll enjoy it with my open mind. But I'm looking foward to enjoy Cova cafe, famous waffle, pizza, creme brulee' etc. etc.:)

BTW, Do they still take you to your room or you've to find our way to get to your room?:o

I thought the food and service in Murano on Century was fabulous, some of the best I have ever had in any restaurant. The only negative was I was with my girl cousin instead of my Husband. I’m taking my husband on Solstice in December for our anniversary and we will be enjoying Murano’s together. I have heard that the same Maitrre’d (Dominic) is on board. That guarantees it will be another fabulous experience.

Our next one will be an April 2009 Transatlantic on Century from Miami to Amsterdam. We chose it because:

(1) We've never done a Transatlantic and want to try it at least once in our lives.

(2) We loved Mercury when we went to Alaska, and want to try another C-class ship before they leave the fleet.

(3) At the end of the cruise we'll be in Amsterdam and can visit friends in the Netherlands.

We are looking forward to a few restful days, and some wine drinking in the Cova Cafe before dinner. We expect to make friends with the Cova staff as we always do.

You mean the waffles are good? ;)

BUT of COURSE they are wonderful & we are now less than 3 weeks to have more...I have had them every morning on every cruise on the Mercury...:D Just a bit of a pig here..love their pizza also--am just hoping with the negative stuff that its pretty much the same as always...am REALLY looking forward to this..its been almost a year since we were on the Mercury..so we will see--I'm sure it is FINE!!!! :cool::D

Also have loved the cool towels when boardinig froom tours in hot weather & hot drinks in Alaska...love the drink you get when you board & if you aren't too early they will escort you to your cabin--but we are always too early--but do wander around & see it later...

Hello,

Just back from the Mercury's 10/22/2008 cruise to Hawaii, I want to add that the entertainment on this cruise was excellent, and generally Celebrity does have better entertainers overall than other cruise lines (26 cruises so far, on all of the majors except NCL).

Although the European ambiance is no longer as prominent as it was in past years, Celebrity still has a European ambiance that my wife and I enjoy.

We strayed from celebrity last year. this year we did not make that mistake! We love Celebrity's personality. Classy yet warm. Staff that really goes out of it's way to please. Just walking down a hallway on Celebrity is an experience. I don't think I have ever smiled so much. Every single staff member from maintenance crew to captain greet you with a smile. It's lovely and it's contagious! What a nice feeling. Can't wait till next year.

Thanks for starting this great thread!!! My favorites are Frederick Portajada (Housekeeping), Tanushka D'Souza (Captain's Club Hostess), Erwin Caballo and Judith Dela Cruz (Guest Relations), and all the rest of the amazing crew on the Mercury. The top notch service, delicious food, and beautiful ships keep me sailing with Celebrity time and time again!!!!!

I love the art on board. (The pieces on display, not the art auction.) A favorite is the sweater and socks knitted for a goose... I think that's on Century, deck 10? There's a great mailman sculpture on the Millenium. And I think I remember a Chihuly glass piece on the Millie, too.

I love that the amosphere is always quiet and subdued.

I love the waffles.

I love scheduled dinner dining.

I love After Eight ice cream. And that ice cream in the afternoon is not only free, but good.

We have no kids, but once I wandered into the empty kid's club and they had cubbyholes with toys in them. One cubby was filled with a bunch of rubber chickens. I love the sense of humor that represents.

I love the activities staff and the wide variety of game-type activities offered. I've frequently been introduced to new games (scattergories, catchphrase) on board that have become favorites at home.

We love

-sparkling wine when boarding and being taken to our room (even though we always know where it is!)

-relaxing on deck 10 aft with coffee in the morning;

-relaxing with a drink in the afternoon when there is singer/guitar entertainment;

-occasionally, relaxing with a drink before dinner when there is a singer/guitar (or not);

-relaxing and dancing in the Rendez-vous lounge almost every evening before dinner;

-dining, especially formal, in the main dining room;

-dining, informal, (even on casual nights) in the main dining room;

-one night's dining in the specialty restaurant;

-relaxing and dancing in the deck 12 disco;

-relaxing by the pool during the day;

-cookies, cakes and stuff from Cova Milano;

-the chamber music or the harpist at Cova Milano;

-the production shows in the Celebrity Theatre;

-often, the other performers in the Celebrity Theatre;

-the breakfast buffet and the omelet station every day;

-always, our waiter and assistant waiter and wine steward;

-always, our cabin attendant;

-often, our maitre d';

-all staff that you meet in the hallways etc. with their ready smiles (this often translates to the passengers doing this as well!);

-the ambience of the ship and the decor overall, even the offbeat art;

-the cold towels upon returning to the ship after a hot touring session;

-few announcements;

-few children (we choose the time that there won't be many...made one mistake in this regard and will never do it again:eek:);

-the Thalassotherapy Pool (relaxing and for adults only);

-the two pools on deck; the deep one for me who can swim, and the not-deep one for (me!) my wife who cannot swim;

-all the other comments already made (except for the waffles, or the almond or chocolate croissants...I have never had them.........but plan to rectify that next week on our third trip on Constellation!!!! Yay for me!:D);

We just like the overall product provided by Celebrity and hate to see any reduction of what has been offered in the past either in service or in quality. If we wanted another style of cruise, we would try another line; so far, we never have.

As others have said, thank you for starting this thread. We have been on Celebrity only once about 4 years ago, loved it but havent been on it since due to itinerary preferences for other sailings since then. Not having been on the boards for a few years, I cam back after we booked the Infinity for an Alaska cruise in May 2009. I was shocked to read all the negative comments I read about the Celebrity product in general. Made me second guess our decision to try Celebrity again. This thread has given me renewed excitement. What I remember fondly from our Mexican Riviera Mercury cruise:

- the impeccable service

- yes those cool towels awaiting you to come back on board after a day in port

- the fantastic Martini bar which we went to every night

- the waffles (we got room service to wait in line too :) )

- the Cova Bar and those croissants

- the evening parties on deck

- the lack of regular announcements blaring on the speakers

- the excellent shows

Thanks again.

I really enjoy the modern art, too.

We love the wide range of live entertainment throughout the ship in the evenings.

• the wonderfully fresh chocolate chip cookies they give you at the Cova Cafe in the late afternoon.

• the thalasotherapy pool near the healthy food options to reduce the guilt of cookies and other treats.

• the dining companions that Celebrity carefully arranges for us.

• not constantly being harangued to buy drinks up on deck.

And I can't wait for our first longer cruise in 120 days!

I love the art on board. And I think I remember a Chihuly glass piece on the Millie' date=' too.[/quote']

We also are impressed by the Chihuly glass art. I don't mean to be picky, picky :D, but I believe this is on the Constellation, located just outside the large lounge on deck 11. It is only one chandelier, but Chihuly is undoubtedly the most renowned glass artist in the world. The Bellagio in Las Vegas has a large portion of the lobby ceiling covered with his art.

It has been a couple of years since our last Celebrity cruise, We have sailed with HAL and Royal Caribbean since. However, we are about to sail with Celebrity again on the Summit November 29 Transatlantic.

Thank all of you for your positive comments about Celebrity. I had begun to wonder, given all the negative posts about the food. We don't eat large quantities, but we really enjoy truly good food. We can hardly wait.

We always enjoyed the Cova Cafe and the good music there. The music has typically been from a string quartet, as I recall. They play semi-classical and an occasional classical piece.

The theater entertainment was always good. The individual artists, pianists, violinists, and singers have all been good. The production shows are first class. I don't believe I have ever seen and heard lip sync on Celebrity. The theater is well designed. Every seat in the house has good vision of the stage.

We think the overall ship architecture of the Millennium class ships is the best by far. The location and design of the bars and lounges is classic.

Gee whiz, this has made the two week wait difficult. :rolleyes:

Bob :cool:
