Travel Channel 10:00pm - Norwegian Pearl - Dec. 21st (Sunday night)

lovelights

Recommended Posts

I , to , was disappointed. he hostess is a- well, a twit. I would have referred seeing more of my Pearl- they really used the camera wide angle lens to an advantage when showing the Casino. Thought I was back at the Mirage in Vegas! ANd when has anyone been alone in the main pool hot tub? I know, it is all for show, but they took away the whole cruise "feel"- except for the WHite HOt PArty.

I liiked watching the glaciers, but really wanted to see more SHIP -

oh well- went back to the game and watched the Giants win in OT!

Love that cute litttle Eli Manning....

Reviews and comments on Cruise Critic are MUCH MORE informative than Travel Channel's show.

How true. I don't think this show was very informative for someone wanting to find out more information about cruising or about NCL. I also agree with the comments about the "host" of the show - surely there are others out there that could have done a better job. It looked like Simon was the CD (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong ) - he could certainly have been more enthusiastic and been able to give more info about the beautiful Pearl.

Oh well, even a bad cruise show is better than none at all.

I was hoping for more on the ship and less on the ports because we are going to be on the Jewel Jan 9th and were hoping to get some last min ideas of what we have to look forward to since they are sister ships. I would say 15 min were spent talking about the ship and the other 45 were about the ports.

After rereading this I'm a little concerned my comments about Simon could be taken other than I intended. I meant to say - he would have been a good choice to be the host because is more enthusiastic and could give more information about the Pearl than we received through our hostess who really knew nothing about the Ship other than being a guest.

I talked my DH into watching the show, and he looks at me and says....BUT WE ARE NOT GOING TO ALASKA.....lol, so NO they did not show us the ship much at all...

Exactly and that was what we were excited about. Since I have done all the booking for the cruise, I thought it would be nice for my wife to see what we have to look forward to on the Jewel. Oh well.

It was boring.....except for the TINY excerpts about the ship...misleading advertising...I thought (as many did) that it was going to focus more on the Pearl....oh well...I guess I'll have to take a cruise ON the ship in order to get to know her better....have a marvelous Monday everyone....GO NAVY!@@ Marla

Just saw it. It was okay. I would have liked to see more of the ship and crew! It was more focused on Alaska. I am looking forward to the next one that was filmed on the Pearl in Nov. (A Day in the Life of a Cruise Ship....or something like that).:D

You get to see A LOT of Miss Universe though.

I thought the same thing, ok, but not a program that will stick in my mind. I too, would like to have seen more about the ship, the crew, the dining, etc. It did make me want to go back and do another Alaskan cruise though.

the host ruined it for me...

she was too into herself and was over the top about everything, plus it wasn't enough about the ship, but we'll be on her sunday!!!

I do want to go to alaska now though

Brooke Lee has always been full of herself. When I saw her compete in USA the first time, and she won, I thought "huh"? And then she won Miss Universe and I was still left scratching my head. Never could understand what the big attraction was. She really needs to give it up and get a real life. She was Miss Universe quite a few years ago, and the party should be over by now.

The fact that the show started with "As a former Miss Universe....." I knew it was gonna be a bad hosted show....

While some may have found the host annoying, I thought she was fine.

But what I wish was that when they are going to feature a ship---FEATURE THE FREAKING SHIP.

And if they want to feature the ports I wish they would have a series where they would pick a port for each episode and SHOW IT. Like maybe more than one excursion!

I've been to Alaska twice on cruises, and expected more about the ship.

My sister does not want to cruise and had the show been something I thought might attract her into going with me, I'd certainly recommend she catch it on a re-run. NOT. She'd have been totally turned off.

But for the people who watched it who might never have been on a cruise, it was exciting enough to entice most people! And there was lots of commentary on the freestyle idea. BUT the fact that the hostess was shown in empty venues was quite misleading!

I totally disagreed with her 10 top things!

It was nothing like what I was hoping for. We are giving our four sons and DIL a Caribbean cruise on the Pearl as a Christmas present. I recorded it thinking I could somehow incorporate it into the surprise present. But since it was 90% about Alaska I don't think I can use it at all. I would have to cut most of it out. I was hoping for all info about the Pearl.:(

What Not to Wear (filmed on the GEM) was about the GEM! The only difference is that What Not To Wear was not ABOUT the GEM.

I think you actually saw more of the GEM on that show than you saw of the Pearl last night.

One good thing came out of it--my DD has agreed that it would be great to cruise Alaska!:D
