RachieLnnn Posted January 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2009 http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28527841/ I thought you all might enjoy this article about men wearing hose. Apparently it is becoming more popular. I'm not sure about formal night, though. ;)
Jane110 Posted January 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Thanks for posting. Interesting article. How ridiculous to call them "mantyhose" or say that men had to wear women's hose before they made the Manyhose. Why not just wear the tights made for male dancers??? To the men who wore women's hose: Hellloooooooooo ..........Duh???? BTW, I saw the tights for men on the European fashion runways 10 years ago. iheartbda Posted January 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 8, 2009 DH runs EVERY morning in any kind of weather, except ice. Years ago I gave him some tights to wear for extra warmth.:) He never complained that they were not made for the male anatomy....hmmmmm, wonder what that says?:p:D
ger_77 Posted January 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 8, 2009 There's no way. DH won't even wear long underwear during our winters up here in the "frozen tundra" - mantyhose? Not happening. Smooth Sailing! :):):)

Gathina Posted January 8, 2009 #8 Share Posted January 8, 2009 People forget that Joe Namath wore them when he played for the NY Jets in the 70's....
iheartbda Posted January 8, 2009 #9 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Actually, Joe wore them for purposes of a commercial so think $$$.;) He said, "Now, I don't wear pantyhose, but if Beauty Mist can make my legs look good, imagine what they'll do for yours." klauer Posted January 8, 2009 #10 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Running "tights" aren't like pantyhose, they are heavier weight like bike shorts, except capri or ankle-length. Both men and women wear them.
melanie2009 Posted January 8, 2009 #11 Share Posted January 8, 2009 My dad has to wear them for his circulation, lol.
UPCrawfish Posted January 9, 2009 #12 Share Posted January 9, 2009 If the temps are way down, I have been known to wear a pair of the wife's knee highs under a couple pair of socks when outside working / hunting. There is a 'warmth factor' there...:) I do let her pick the color.:D
esther e Posted January 9, 2009 #13 Share Posted January 9, 2009 A true story. About 17 years ago we were on a cruise and my husband couldn't find his black dress socks. Searched and searched the suitcases. Nothing. I went down to the ship's store and all they had were navy blue thick wool socks. So, 3 layers of my black knee hi's equal one pair of his black socks. He proudly wore them and never again have I forgotten to pack them. Yes, I do the packing. Now when we get home from a cruise, I wash the socks and place them in the toes of his black shoes. If he needs good shoes between cruises (not likely in our lifestyle and climate!), I know where they are!!!:)

karen sharpe Posted January 13, 2009 #15 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Pretty gross! But to be honest with you my hubby who is a "runner" and likes everyone to know it:rolleyes: actually got some amazing thermal underwear designed specifically for outdoor sports that resembles panty hose! You have to stifle a laugh when you see him strutting around in it but it is quite amazing in it's ability to keep him warm .
Gathina Posted January 13, 2009 #16 Share Posted January 13, 2009 Exactly. This country thinks it's a fashion faux paux for a woman to even wear hose nowadays!:D Culturally, this country is not ready yet.
