Why do people love to wear s.t. from previous cruises?

Recommended Posts

Maybe its just a pretty shirt, even if it does have a embroidered small Cozumel ..... or it was a group cruise and I had a extra good time in St. Thomas so wanted a St. Thomas shirt.

Why would people care what a tee shirt says others are wearing?? I'm finding some of these comments odder to me than wearing a tee shirt.

I guess I've never been too impressed with souvenir T-shirts, especially on women. I'm not one who cares to wear logo anything and my husband is even more adamant than I am. We're the ones who leave the logo gifts behind on the ship :o

Oh well, I didn't dress my kids in cartoon character clothes when they were little, either.

Im really amazed at the judgements here and lack of tolerance for what others want to wear. Maybe they just needed tee shirts? How do you know why they bought them, or even that they just bought them?

I bought a red Princess shirt for a port I was going to go to on the next Princess cruise onboard my Princess Grand cruise for 75% off. I still think its a cute fitting shirt, but I wore it on the Caribbean Princess .... ya mean there were people going around saying, hey she just bought that tee shirt and thinks she was the only one to that port? Are people this shallow for real?

I think you're taking this all too personal. Although I say I don't judge (we all do whether we admit it or not) I really don't care that anyone else wears a souvenir T-shirt, but with all the other nicer looking clothing in the world, why???

The best repsonse so far that I can understand is that someone could pack lighter if they bought souvenir T-shirts.

Oh well, I don't wear T-shirts ever, unless they are cut for a female body and have a scoop neck (and no logo), my husband only wears T-shirts to do yard work. I buy him plain white T-shirts for that.

But please don't take this too seriously :)

You reply to me in particular and tell me not to take it personally .... then post twice quoting me that you would never wear a regular cut tee shirt. lol. silly me to think you are talking to me because I said I wear tee shirts ... a lot Im afraid. I wear them because Im comfortable in them.

You can have my RCL logo baseball hat though, I dont look good in them. Thats the only reason I dont wear them, not because I dislike logo items.

This thread is a eye opener, and no Im not taking offense, just feel like its educational on how others really feel.

The title says it all.

You always see people wearing either a t-shirt, polo shirt , cap etc from previos cruise ships (lines)

Better question is---

Why would someone start a thread about it?

I do it to encourage discussions with other folks who might have been on these other ships. I know I will initiate a conversation when I see someone wearing a shirt from one of our past cruises.

I was thinking something like that. Somebody said in this thread they would wear their Radiance shirt. That might prompt me to strike up a conversation about that ship. I like to be different. Its usually cold when I depart my home city but I don't want to pack a coat, so I usually wear either my Columbus Curling sweatshirt or longsleeve T-shirt. That is usually good for several conversations. If I see someone with a Michigan shirt on, I usually strike up a conversation and tell them the Windjammer is on deck 1, behind the door that says CREW ONLY

To show the rookies that you've been there before, so clear out of the way when I'm coming through--hey, I'm Diamond, back off....

Seriously, I would echo the entry of the possible conversation starter with others who might notice and have a question or comment, since when I am on a cruise I am surrounded by people who share a favorite interest with me--CRUISING! Maybe compare experiences, compares ships and lines and excursions. Such exchanges have taken place all the time in the concierge lounges when DW and I have been in there, since most assume the folks in the CL have past cruise experience (we'd only be guessing wrong if we met first time cruisers in a GS or above suite). On DCL I would wear the DCL t-shirt that could only be purchased on Castaway Cay when I boarded, and sure enough a cast member noticed the shirt and said welcome back as I entered the welcome aboard buffet, and frankly that attention to detail by that cast member made me feel very appreciated and is one of my favorite cruise stories after 13 cruises. THAT'S why I choose to wear cruise t-shirts on cruises.

I do confess there is no rational explanation for the Hawaiian shirts. They're just festive, that's all!

And just to munch on popcorn at the other end of the clothing spectrum, I wear tuxes on many formal nights because it feels special and classy, and it is a fun chance to get to do so.
