Kport2011 Posted April 3, 2013 #1902 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Ship: Silhouette Cabin: 7245 Deck: 7 Area: Port side right near the main elevators/stairs - on the hump facing aft. Bed near bathrooms It's a quite cabin - no noise issues from above or below Balcony is HUGE!!!!! one of the largest for a regular veranda cabin Smoking is permitted on deck 5 directly below this cabin. However, we did not have any issues with smoke/smokers on deck 5. We DID have issues with smoke/smokers on deck 8 forward of us on the balcony. It was a major issue that had to be addressed by Guest Relations. Great central location near the stairs and elevators
OBX-Cruisers Posted April 3, 2013 #1903 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Ship: Eclipse Cabin: 3124 Deck: 3 Class: Location: Starboard Bed: Near window Quiet: No Problems with this cabin: There was a metallic scraping sound coming from below for most of the trip that escalated to mechanical pounding noises that were very disturbing. Recommendation: Pick a cabin more forward on this deck as our friends up the hall did not report any noises despite being closer to the Atrium. Cabin located on hump so balcony was very private. Edge of "X" was on glass of balcony. No obstructions. Since location is on hump, no other balconies can see into balcony. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - normal Was wind a problem? No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A Any specific problems with this cabin? No, I would book this cabin again. Any other comments? Great location. Very close to aft elevators. Usually walked down stairs to dining rooms. Minor annoyance was smoking on deck 5 below. Port side had great view when entering San Juan harbor. ************ Finally found this....we're booked in this cabin on our next cruise. It sounds like cabins in this area are in the perfect location.
MitziMo Posted April 5, 2013 #1907 Share Posted April 5, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 2102 DECK #: 12 CLASS: A1 AREA: Forward, next to the fitness center BED NEAR: balcony QUIET?: No. When ship was in movement, panels from ship construction made bumping noise. Complained to guest relations, and was not a problem after night two. Maybe we were super tired, or maybe they tightened it, but didn’t hear it anymore. BALCONY VIEW: Port Side. Unobstructed. BALCONY SIZE: Regular size balcony – no hump. No overhang. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: No complaints other than the one cited about noise. They may have fixed it. We had a voice message that they would be investigating it. __________________
MitziMo Posted April 5, 2013 #1908 Share Posted April 5, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 2106 DECK #: 12 CLASS: A1 AREA: Forward, near to the fitness center BED NEAR: balcony QUIET?: Yes. Heard absolutely no noise from above or from nearby elevator bay. Very quiet cabin. BALCONY VIEW: Port Side. Unobstructed. BALCONY SIZE: Large hump balcony with overhang. No sun. Balcony was huge. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: We would definitely book this cabin again in a heartbeat! It was convenient to elevator, aqua spa café was only 1 stair flight up where we could get a quick cup of coffee or wine at lunch. No noise from pool deck upstairs. Persian Gardens right across the hall. Since cabin was so close, didn’t need to get a locker key.
countingdown321 Posted April 7, 2013 #1909 Share Posted April 7, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 1696 DECK #: 11 CLASS: C1 AREA: Aft BED NEAR: Balcony QUIET?: Yes. Very quiet cabin. BALCONY VIEW: Directly above wake. BALCONY SIZE: Slightly larger than normal. WIND A PROBLEM?: No SOOT A PROBLEM?: Yes. A little bit in morning. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: We were perfectly happy with this cabin and loved the view from the balcony. There was a bit of soot in the morning, but very easy to wipe off chairs and the deck was washed every day. Probably one of the the furthest distances possible from elevator and stairs though so if any concerns about walking, this wouldn't be a good choice. Bytor62 Posted April 7, 2013 #1910 Share Posted April 7, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 7264 DECK #: 7 CLASS: A1 AREA: Mid, last angled cabin of hump BED NEAR: Bath QUIET?: Yes. BALCONY VIEW: Unobstructed, great view forward BALCONY SIZE: Largest of the angled balconies (I think), lots of room. WIND A PROBLEM?: No under normal conditions. The first two days were VERY windy so anywhere on the ship had a wind problem. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Loved this cabin. It has a large balcony, is right outside the elevators, and if you're a coffee drinker, The Hideaway is outside your door. I will say that the cabin attendants' closet is right outside and you could hear them opening and closing the door frequently but not until after about 9:00 AM. bayview97 Posted April 8, 2013 #1911 Share Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) CABIN #: 6214 SHIP: Equinox DECK #: 6CLASS: 1A AREA: Starboard Midship BED NEAR: Bath QUIET?: Quiet BALCONY VIEW: Excellent. No problems here. Almost 180 degrees outward. This is the last room before the hump so the balcony is angled slightly forward. The lifeboats are on deck 5 below when looking forward. You can see directly downward to the water through a small forward-facing area of the balcony. A large white storage container sits directly below the aft-half of the balcony.BALCONY SIZE: HUGE. Best in class! WIND A PROBLEM?: No. It is deep enough to enjoy the sun and/or breeze or be totally out of it.SOOT A PROBLEM?: No. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The Equinox is a beautiful ship. You will have a great time! Some minor comments about the cabin: 1) you will hear creaks and noises if you experience rough seas with some rocking and rolling as we did a couple of days; 2) during mid afternoons, you may hear some pumps working periodically; and 3) you are close to the elevators so you have great access to them. You may hear the band playing in the deck 3 atrium area next to the elevators in the early evenings. We heard some of this but none of it was a problem for us. Your mileage may vary. Have fun and enjoy your cruise! Edited April 8, 2013 by bayview97
CruiseAwayWithMe Posted April 8, 2013 #1912 Share Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) CABIN #: 6206 SHIP: Equinox DECK #: 6 CLASS: 2D AREA: Starboard Midship BED NEAR: Bath QUIET?: Quiet BALCONY VIEW: Obstructed lifeboat view BALCONY SIZE: Normal WIND A PROBLEM?: No. SOOT A PROBLEM?: No. PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: The obstruction didn't bother us as at all. We could still look out fine. I used the lifeboat as a night light at night so I didn't have to turn on the light. The location was great right near the dining room. I enjoyed the location better than being on deck 9 last S class cruise. I included a photo of the balcony I took. Maybe the obstruction would bug some people, but I was surprised it didn't bother me. It added extra privacy. Edited April 8, 2013 by CruiseAwayWithMe

Miss SeaBee Posted April 16, 2013 #1923 Share Posted April 16, 2013 SHIP: Reflection CABIN #: 1122 DECK #: 10 CLASS: CS AREA: Starboard midship, forward facing hump angle BED NEAR: In separate bedroom, nearer the bath an the balcony QUIET?: Yes, very! BALCONY VIEW: Unobstructed, private, slightly forward, but can see aft if you stand at the rail. Nearly 180 degree view BALCONY SIZE: Oversized for class Wind a problem? No. One morning windy enough to blow napkins, etc around during breakfast on balcony, but still nice. Soot a problem? No Comfy living room couch, folds out into a fairly comfortable bed. Problems/comments: Very nice suite in an ideal location. People with mobility issues should be aware that the bathroom has a tub/ shower combo, and the sides of the tub seem higher than standard US tubs. It was a big step over into the tub. Tub floor was very slick. We requested an extra towel to place in the bottom of the tub for traction. There is a storage closet of some sort in the hall beside this room, but I never heard a sound from it. No banging doors. It's directly across from the library, and people tend to speak quietly there. Elevators silenced by sliding glass doors out into the hallway. BALCONY SIZE: normal for class WIND A PROBLEM?: no SOOT A PROBLEM?: no PROBLEMS/COMMENTS: Great suite! I was concerned about not upgrading to S1, but price was significantly higher. Once I saw it, and realized what a great cabin it was, with gorgeous aft view, and that even the S2s have both a sliding door onto balcony and a port hole window, I was very happy. My 2 daughters and sister all shared this room and were comfortable. Not enough storage for everyone's clothes, but plenty of space. They were very pleased.
