We are also inside on the Dolphin Deck (midship) for our upcoming cruise. Thanks for all the information on your cruise. We are enjoying the facts you are posting! BoardwalkBabe Posted February 17, 2009 #32 Share Posted February 17, 2009 Do you remember what time you arrived at Princess Cays and what the earliest tender time was to get off the ship? I've made a note to bring water shoes. Thanks!

Thanks for all the information on your cruise. We are enjoying the facts you are posting! We love mid ship Dolphin. the inside cabin is fine too. They put a lot of the cabin space into the open closet and storage so the actual living and sleeping space seems a bit small, but it is fine. JMUMOM Posted February 18, 2009 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2009 My family and I are sailing on the Crown on April 5th Plaza 320 and 316. Should we purchase water shoes (I saw them yesterday in Sports Authority, very reasonable)? Do you have to pay for the special dinner that you are talking about? Thanks. Anything else you can suggest for first time cruisers?

Rare flannbarr Posted February 19, 2009 Author #38 Share Posted February 19, 2009 Day 3 (Tuesday)—Day at Sea The day at sea was pretty smooth. The day started out a little rainy and overcast. We decided to play games, read and just take it easy most of the day. Knowing we had three straight port days coming up, we did not venture into the sun very much. We went to the casino in the afternoon and did not do very well—I think e made another contribution of about $250. We had dinner at Crown Grill ($25 up charge) which was excellent. The appetizers we had included grilled tiger prawn shrimp prepared some amazing way, scallops, lamb loin. My wife had a salad and I had onion soup which was great—one of the best I have had. For entrees, I had the rack of lamb and my wife had 4 oz. lobster tails (no add’l up charge). We also had basked potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. For dessert, I had chocolate molten lava cake which was great. My wife had apple and berry cobbler which she died for. All in all, the appetizers, soup and desserts were great. The entrees were above average. It felt like being at the Capital Grill restaurant. Went back to casino and we won about $700 back. I was feeling a lot better at that point! Day 4 Wednesday)—St. Maarten Took a taxi ($6/person) to Orient Beach—about 15-20 minute drive. Went to the left when we arrived where it most wore clothes but a few women were topless. Paid $20 for two beach chairs. Spent about three hours at the beach including lunch. Water was rather warm and not very salty. The day was pretty overcast and pretty windy but I was still able to burn my face since it was about 80 degrees out. Took a taxi back to the ship ($7/person—less people on taxi). Went right to pool and swam and watched movies on MUTS. We have been able to get the same seats for three days around the pool. Went back to cabin around 5pm to get ready for Chef’s Table! Kid’s Club opened 15 minutes early for me so we could drop off our son and make it to the Int’l Café (Chef’s Table meeting point) at 7pm. Chef’s Table—I can’t say enough good things about this. For $75/person, here is what you do, eat and get: Put on lab coat Walk into live galley with tour by head chef, Exec. Director of Food and Beverages and others Went to a prep area in the galley where we were greeted by several custom designed watermelons. Champagne was poured for our group of 9 people The head chef had 4 different appetizers for us—one by one. They were amazing! We are enjoying this all in the active galley while being served by several staff. Left galley and walked to our table in the Michelangelo dining room. Our table had a beautiful floral centerpiece and candles. We then had another appetizer (beef carpacchio …) White wine was served Next came asparagus risotto. It was made better than I have ever had before. Time to cleanse our pallet. Expecting a fruit sorbet but instead had a spicy “lip smackin bloody mary sorbet” and the head chef poured vodka over the top for each of us. The only thing it cleansed was our livers! Next came some red wine. Now the the main course. The head chef said to get our cameras ready. Wow! Out comes surf & turf where the chef flamed it at a table to the side and the pieces of meat (beef tenderloin, veal and pork) were hanging on this metal tree attached to a metal serving table… like brazilian style steakhouse… Also had lobster, potatoes, veggies, etc. Next came port wine. Next was a cheesy fondue which was very strong—kind of like blue cheese. Next came dessert. It was an orange mousse with raspberry mango glaze. Also had lemoncelleo shooters. All in all, about 15 courses, champagne, white wine, red wine, bloody mary sorbet, dessert wine and lemoncello. Each couple had their picture taken with the head chef, head bakery chef, and Exec. Director of Food and Beverages. A group picture was also taken. The 5x7 pictures were given to each couple before we left the table. Each lady was given a rose and an autographed Princess cookbook along with an insert of the menu listing what we were just served. WOW, WOW, WOW! brendalee Posted February 21, 2009 #42 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Could someone please explain what happens at the "chef's table"? I've never heard of this. And, how do we request to sit there? We leave for Eurpoe on the 26th of April. And, I can't wait.

The cost is $75pp. They do not offer it on all ships and it isn't offered every night on those ships that do have it. IMHO, it is the best individual experience I have had on any of my cruises.
