MCManders99 Posted February 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2009 On my upcoming Freedom cruise, I have switched from Room 8302 to Aft Cabin 7408. I hope it is a good choice. One reason was for the larger balcony. I seen pictures and it looks lovely so I guess I'll wait and see. :)
dwdwnurse Posted February 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2009 We have had both hump and aft staterooms and aft wins hands down! We also love the larger balcony and oh, the sound of the wake...wonderful! Hope you'll have a great cruise!!

Tanker4 Posted February 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2009 Great choice. You're gonna love it back aft.:)
golfer1966 Posted February 25, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2009 which is the opposite corner from your cabin 7408. It was very nice and we loved the big balcony. We just love to watch the wake and having the choice to sit in the sun or not. Very good choice
pscan5150 Posted February 25, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2009 We're in 7408 on our FOS cruise in September. If it's anything like the comparable room we had on AOS last April, I'm sure it will be great - we loved the over sized balcony.
snausman Posted February 25, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2009 I am another aft lover. Love those cabins! Have a wonderful cruise and enjoy that balcony. Laura
FloridaPalms Posted February 25, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2009 We had 7708 on our Independence cruise (and have its equivalent for our upcoming Navigator cruise). See the second and third picture in our signature below. While some people don't like the infrastructure on freedom and voyager class aft balconies, we think this is one FANTASTIC balcony! And while it is a longer walk to the elevators, this means you can have an extra dessert! :D Plus you do not have the noise of people walking in the halls past your cabin all the time. Very peaceful location. Enjoy!
LDR Posted February 25, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2009 It is very peaceful back there! I loved ours, can't wait for a chance to have another one! Enjoy:)
cruisegirl1 Posted February 25, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2009 We’ve had an aft balcony on 3 different ships, Legend, Splendor and Jewel and loved it each time. The balcony size is terrific as is the view. Beware that the walk to and from the cabin is fairly long. It was no big deal on the 3 ships I mentioned but it will be substantially longer on the Freedom. I do think the long walks helped us keep the pounds off! 39august Posted February 25, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2009 Actually, I believe the distance from the elevators/stairs to the aft cabins is the same on both Voyager class and Freedom class ships. The extra length is added to the Promenade on Freedom class.
teethcleaner Posted February 25, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2009 We also love the aft. The best is when you are pulling away from the ports. Watching everything get smaller, reflecting on your day with a glass of wine in your hand. Paradise.
barjolov Posted February 25, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2009 All your posts about aft cabins just made me get even more excited for our cruise on Rhapsody of the Sea in April. We are going for the 10 day Hawaii cruise (Hawaii and then to Vancouver, Canada). We have booked an aft cabin and our friends have the one next door. Has anyone reading this been in 7158 or 7156? If so, do you have any pictures? Also, is there any opening that could connect the two cabins?
crusinmama06 Posted February 26, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Jealous. ;) We just had an Aft on Indy. I never want to go back to another kind of cabin. Too bad there are no Afts on my next cruise...lol. Enjoy! :D
fpcruiser Posted February 26, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 26, 2009 I just switched from a hump to an aft also. I was thrilled when I saw one become available.

megr1125 Posted February 26, 2009 #17 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Actually, I believe the distance from the elevators/stairs to the aft cabins is the same on both Voyager class and Freedom class ships. The extra length is added to the Promenade on Freedom class.:confused: call me dumb, but this doesn't make sense....you can't lengthen one part of the ship...meaning...if the whole ship is longer, then wouldn't EVERYTHING be longer??? (maybe it's the way i interpreted your post!) or do you mean, say for instance the distance between the aft elevators and aft cabins on AOS is, 50 yards...the rocket scientist ship builders LEPT the same 50 yard (hypothetical) distance on freedom class ships??? [i don't think they were that precise, but then again, i was a politics major, not an engineering major)!!:D
WhiteSoxFan Posted February 26, 2009 #18 Share Posted February 26, 2009 The extra length was added between the fore and aft stairs/elevators so the distance from the aft elevator to the aft cabins is the same on the Freedom and the Voyager. We had 7708 on the Freedom. We loved it. The balcony is almost as big as the room! There is a link to the pictures in my signature.
