JazzieB Posted June 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 1, 2009 I apologise if this has been asked before but we are looking at taking the 5 night trip from NJ in Sept '10 to celebrate my upcoming big birthday :o I'm aware that we run the risk of hurricane season but what are the sailing conditions usually like at that time of year, and as we have never visited Bermuda before will it be hot when we get there? Many thanks
gerif Posted June 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 1, 2009 My birthday is in September also, so we've done this trip a couple of times. The weather is usually just lovely - warm enough to enjoy the beaches but not so hot as to be uncomfortable. On one trip it was announced that we would be sailing through a hurricane on the way home but to be perfectly honest, I never noticed a thing. If the water did get rough, I must have slept through it.
EndlessLove Posted June 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2009 We have been twice out of NJ to Bermuda in September and both times the weather has been hot and very humid. Our last cruise in September we had to leave Bermuda one day early because of an approaching hurricane and they wanted the ships out of the port BUT I would go again in a heartbeat - you still have a beautiful ship and a great island to explore. Go for it!
Motorman23 Posted June 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Went a few years ago in the first week of September 2006, our cruise was one week before (Florence, cat 1) and one week after (Ernesto, Cat 1) two hurricaines that passed through the northern atlantic. We had a smooth beautiful cruise. Just lucky I guess but that's how it goes that time of year. I think I also won some money in the Casino ;). yogimax Posted June 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2009 Don't stress - just enjoy. Just remember that Bermuda is not in the Caribbean and the weather is more like Baltimore than Miami
