OK...I'll try!!

Canival Tropicale - "10" - HORRIBLE ship (good staff, however) but our first cruise with 62 friends for DH's 50th Birthday.

NCL Norway - "1" - DH wound up in a wheelchair for the entire trip, and believe me...that ship was built long before the ADA had any say in anything!!

NCL Norway - "9" - Just to be fair we tried her again with our bi-annual group trip. Definately better than first time around.

Disney Wonder - "10" - We made memories for our grandchildren (and ourselves) that will last a lifetime! Great ship and service, outstanding family entertainment!!

Sapphire Princess pending.....expecting a "10"! How can your first Alaskan trip not be?

Caribbena Princess...pending....expencting another "10". Look out MUTS..here I come!

I never expect to have a bad cruise (OK..except for that one!) It's all in what YOU make it!!

These are since the summer of '02

Caribbean Princess - 8 - Great Food, Great Ship, Loved MUTS, Entertainment - Good, not great. San Juan - was a poor substitute for PC. BEAUTIFUL Spa

Grand Princess - 9 - Great Food, Great Ship, Entertaiment was better than the CP. Itinerary (the Baltic was a 10+)

Enchantment of the Seas - 8 - Average food, Beautiful ship, Great Service, Wonderful entertainment.

Star Princess - 9 - Great Food, Great Ship, Beautiful Spa, Good Entertainment

Grandeur of the Seas - 8 - Same as the Enchantment

Insipration - 7 - Good food, Great Entertainment. Would rate this higher, except for the fact that I really don't care much for the decor on Carnival's ships. We took this particular cruise 2 summers ago with a 12 year old. This was his first cruise and we thought he would probably have a great time with all of the other kids - which he did.

OK,here's mine so far starting with the most recent:

RCL Navigator of the Seas 9/03

7 out of 10 points.Too gimmicky & glitzy for us,didn't need the rock wall or the roller skating rink.Thought the food was horrid although the service and entertainment were top notch.

Star Princess 3/03

10 out of 10 points.Easily, our most favorite cruise to date.Went with 2 of our close friends and had adjoining mini-suites.Fabulous food and good times!

Ocean Princess 4/02

9 out of 10 points. This 15-day Panama Canal cruise repositioned from FL to SF so we only had to fly once(always a plus!),great food and excellent tablemates although not many people our age.Our 1st. balcony room!

Sea Princess 2/01

10 out of 10 points

My 1st cruise with my wife and this was all it took to get hooked!Simply wonderful and all I remember was our first sail-away together with the horns blowing,my sweetie in my arms and a glass of champagne in hand...Priceless!

...until our 1/28 Sun Princess sailing...

CARNIVAL DESTINY 1996; 9

first cruise, brand new ship, couldn't fault it.

NCL NORWAY 1998; 8.5

surprising as she is a classic ocean liner and we like new ships, but great entertainment and food and staff made it a winner in our eyes.

RCCL EXPLORER OF THE SEAS; 7.5

at 147,000 tons it was a bit too big for us. I would like to try it again though.

ORIENT LINE CROWN ODYSSEY x 3 times (NOW NORWEGIAN CROWN); 9, fantastic value for money and itinerary could have sailed on this every year if she hadn't transferred to NCL(too expensive now).

CELEBRITY MILLENNIUM; 9.5

fantastic food, entertainment, itinerary.

NCL SUN; 9

fab, lovely ship, superb itinerary, lovely food, great staff.

COSTA VICTORIA; 7.5

great ship, very stylish, however everything in 5 languages with english being the last one put us off a lot. A shame because the ship was so nice. This was a europe cruise so maybe a caribbean one with this line would be better, more americans?

CELEBRITY CONSTELLATION; 8

was expecting great things after the Millennium but was disappointed can't really put my finger on why just not as good, staff were not as nice and played too much jazz for my liking (by the pool, all day every day.)

DAWN PRINCESS; 8

O.K., staff really pleasant and helpful. Food at the buffet very good. I think the sparkle has gone for us with cruising (never thought I would hear myself say that) I think we need to try a land based holiday next to put things in perspective. We are becoming too picky, when really everything is great.

Ok here goes (BTW, I assume 10 - is high on your scale),

12/94 Windward Eastern Caribbean - 9 -First cruise, loved it, thought the 45,000 GRT ship was HUGE, couldn't get diet coke in the am anywhere, the line expected everyone to be traveling in husband-wife couples, we lined up on the first formal night to meet the Captain and have our picture taken with him, fab midnight buffets. Inside forward stateroom ($999 pp)

9/96 Star Princess Northbound Voyage of the Glaciers- 8 Loved it. Mom's first cruise. Much more formal than first cruise. More older people than first cruise. Ship felt huge compared to Windward. Surprised by seeing the dancers and other cruise staff in the Observation lounge drinking and dancing every night. Wine stewards, tableside pasta and cherries jubilee! (Deluxe outside, $2400 pp)

11/97 Regal Princess Classic Panama Canal - 10 For a long time this was our #1 cruise. First balcony. Ship felt much bigger than the Star. Skirted a hurricane. Hiked through rain forest with a fever. Loved the swim up bar and the huge disco. No more midnight buffets. Three formal nights, 4 semi-formal, balance casual.

5/98 Sun Princess Southbound Voyage of the Glaciers - 10 We finally were able to book "the world's biggest passenger ship". Obviously felt huge. beautiful. Loved the teak deck chairs on the promenade. No more wine stewards.

12/99 Grand Princess Eastern Caribbean - 8 Didn't think we'd book this ship, ever. It was attracting a new element. First mini-suite. St Maarten replaced with Puerto Rico due to hurricane damage. It poured rain all day in Puerto Rico. Thought the ship was huge. Loved Skywalkers. The chairs in the Atrium lounge were too low for the tables. Really hard to find loungers - anywhere! Really great food! FIrst time to the new Princess Cays. Just ok. We had butler service. Large incentive group of farmers (sponsored by a seed company) on board. We find ourselves continually barred from certain public areas because they are reserved by this group for private events. Examples: SKywalkers and the conservatory pool (whole area)

5/00 Ocean Princess Northbound Voyage of the Glaciers - 8 Another nice cruise. Great tablemates from Tasmania. Food not up to par (quality and cooking)

1/01 Sun Princess Classic Panama Canal - 9 Great cruise. They were trying the "Bistro" concept in the Horizon Court. It opened at 8 pm and it was a great experience. Fab service, candlelight, the view over the bow, the menu included their awesome lamb chops. We felt very pampered and taken care of. Equivalent to an upscale restaurant at home. Too bad they relegated this idea to late night.

11/01 Crown Princess Hawaii - 9 Great cruise. First suite. Embarkation was a disaster. We waited for 7 hours in San Diego at a hotel then took a 2 hour bus transfer and went from being one of the first to arrive in SD to one of the last to board the ship. We were greeted by our expert steward, Rico, with champagne and his cool professionalism. That turned it around. Island Night party was awesome with the red lava pouring into the sea off the starboard side. Cloudy, cold and rainy for the first 4 of 5 sea days. Swim-up bar didn't have water and then after being filled too cold to get into. No more semi-formal nights. They were listed on our ticket and deleted once we were on board. First time for the soda card. It's not hard to get soda in the DR (or anywhere else) anymore.

3/02 Ocean Princess Southern Caribbean Islander - 10 the perfect caribbean cruise. Great food. excellent service in DR.

9/02 Golden Princess Transatlantic - 10+ Hands down our favorite. Expected to not like the ship and find it much more beautiful and elegant than the Grand. Sailing away from Venice listening to Andrea Boccelli - priceless! Huge cruise critic group on board made the difference. I made lasting friendships on this cruise. The hurricane, blown out windows, late arrival to NY! What an experience. Capt Andy Proctor - what sense of humor. Danielle our good friend and head waiter took care of us. First time in PC. We set it up as traditional with two tablemates who also escaped an unbearable table in traditional. Best food ever. first cruise with revise Captain's Circle program. For the first time I feel the need to connect with the outside world while on vacation and use the free internet.

3/03 Coral Princess Panama Canal - 10 Loved this ship. Probably the best in the fleet. She has it all and in the right proportions. Great casino. Great "finished" feeling style in the decor. The atrium is gorgeous. Crooners is the best. The Wheelhouse Bar, on the other hand, is like a huge bowling alley. Our mini is slightly different than on the Golden or Grand. We prefer the Golden's room. I would say avoid the bump outs. Pool area is a bit disappointing. both Sun class and Grand class are better.

5/03 Sun Princess Southbound Voyage of the Glaciers - 8 Aft suite. Awesome. Fellow cruisers markedly more casual than previous cruises. Some seem to want the Caribbean experience in Alaska. Our room steward is not up to par. We dine alone every night at our table for 6 in Traditional second except for crab night. Our tablemates have opted for PC, without informing the Maitre D or a headwaiter. They appear on crab night because they weren't sure they would get crab in PC. They don't return.

12/03 Dawn Princess Classic Southern Caribbean 7 - Mid-ship mini. Room steward is barely motivated to get up in the morning let alone clean. His supervisor figures it out after a visit to the room to correct a problem with the safe and observes the condition of the room. Things improved slightly after that. Our fellow shipmates were disproportionately Puerto Rican. Great itinerary. horrible shipboard ambience. I saw things I've never seen before. Attended the most traveled captain's party in the ward room. Nice experience.

12/03 Dawn Princess Southern Caribbean Explorer - 7 did PC this week and hated it. You don't really interact with shipmates and build relationships, hear what their take on things is, etc. It's a very rushed inpersonal experience. There's less incentive for the waiters to be friendly unless you make the effort. Attended the most traveled captain's party in the ward room. Nice experience.

5/04 Grand Princess Baltic Heritage - 10. Ship is as ugly inside (especially the Atrium) as I remember. We love our mini balcony, exposed or not. We hate the people around us who shout from balcony to balcony. Super itinerary. Another good group of cruise critics makes the difference.

Royal Princess 2/99: 10 -- itinerary: 12-night Amazon to San Juan. This was a fabulous cruise, great ship, superb food, entertainment, service.

Sun Princess 1/00: 9 -- itinerary: 12-night Panama Canal from FLL to Acapulco. Except for missing the boat for two days due to weather, this was a great cruise. Again, good food, entertainment and service.

Ocean Princess 12/00: 8 -- itinerary: 7-night Caribbean Eastern for Christmas. Too crowded but we had a good time anyway.

Royal Princess 4/01: 10 -- itinerary: 12-night eastern Med (major ports: Rome/Cairo/Istanbul/Athens). Again, great time. Fabulous ship, food, entertainment and service.

Grand Princess 12/23/01: 3 -- itinerary: 7-night Caribbean Western. Way too crowded, service was very poor, PC dining experience was horrible. We had a good time in spite of some serious problems. I'd never go on the Grand again.

Sea Princess 2/9/02: 10 -- itinerary: 7-night Mexican Riviera. Great ship, excellent food, entertainment and service. We had a terrific time.

Explorer of the Seas 12/21/02: 7 -- itinerary: 7-night Caribbean Western. This was a last-minute replacement for the Coral Princess, which wasn't ready on time. We had a nice time. Nothing special about the cruise or ship. Cabin was great, dining service was very poor.

Coral Princess 8/9/03: 10 -- itinerary: 7-night SB Alaska with 4-night pre-cruise. This was an awesome cruise and pre-cruise. The ship was great, service was incredible, good entertainment. We had a great time.

Nordic Empress 12/27/03: 7 -- itinerary: 7-night Western Caribbean. Small but very crowded ship. We had a good time but the dining service was very poor (had a tray of food dumped on us at one point, an avoidable accident).

Regal Princess (4/20/04): 9 -- itinerary: 15-night Hawaii RT LAX. This was a fabulous cruise. Loved the sea days. Service and entertainment were good, there was plenty to do during the sea days.

Sea Princess 7/01 Southbound Voyage of the Glaciers (8.5) - totally awestruck at how completely different cruising is compared to any previous vacation. Cabin steward couldn't do too much for us. Only negative was discovering that there were so many added-charge items.

Royal Princess 9/02 Canada/New England (9.75) - you just knew you were on the premiere ship of the Princess fleet. Staff maintained high standards throughout, minor problem with dining room staff corrected immediately. Cabin steward hid in closet, never the saw the fellow but couldn't leave for 5 minutes without finding the cabin spotless and completely made up. Officers very visible and easy to chat with.

Grand Princess 4/03 Western Carib (9) - had to take PC dining, but upgraded to Vista Suite prior to cruise. Excellent cabin steward who insisted upon taking care of everything, even to the point of placing room service orders to make sure they were correct. Two ports cancelled, shore excursions cancelled at another. Made great friends whom we still stay in touch with, and had a great time.

Grand Princess 9/03 Eastern Carib (8.5) - first leg of back to back cruise, got to know Captain Romano a little after he recognized us from our previous cruise, good CC group, charming and highly personable cabin steward, so-so dining in traditional, Princess "VIP" stole our wait staff after first night and replacements were not of same calibre. Non-existent head waiter.

Grand Princess 9/03 Western (8) - second leg, good CC group again, photos taken with Captain and signed by him for us, wonderful tablemates, awesome waiters, many passengers from cancelled cruises of SS Norway, large corporate group on board created somewhat of a frat party ambiance, definitely not the "usual" Princess crowd

Caribbean Princess 4/04 Western Carib. (6) - inaugural cruise, allowances made for "new ship blues", but love that new ship smell. Cabin steward was not a star performer, took care of the basics, dining room staff seemed rushed most nights, except when adjacent table of VIP's were not present, many other areas seemed understaffed, Club Fusion electronics causing ConFusion, shows cancelled in Theater. Ship dirty from pre-inaugural overnight cruise upon boarding, many crewmembers tired and/or hung over. Only cruise where children and teens caused noticeable problems, security staff was very visible during late evening. Marketing person dragged Captain Romano away while he was speaking with us, definitely felt 2nd-class with so many VIP's on board. Only cruise where I didn't feel any regret about disembarkation. Great CC people on board and fun tablemates with whom we had a great time.

Golden Princess 4/04 Eastern Carib. (10) - got off CB, went directly to Golden. Night and day difference. Awesome CC group, crew were all very professional and took care of the tiniest details. Fantastic tablemates. Restored my confidence in Princess.

Crusin' chris- for the coral princess:

"Pool area is a bit disappointing. both Sun class and Grand class are better."

Are you saying the pool area is better on the sun, and Grand-class ships.... or are you saying you liked the Sun, and Grand-class more?

oh, and for the coral I booked C503 (middle bumpout, caribe deck, facing aft)

Hopefully, I won't be dissapointed with the bumpout!

Trying to rate our cruises on a scale of 1-10 is hard. It's sort of like filling in the comment cards. Everyone wants "excellent," but there are things that need improving. My scale is 1-3: ships that you wouldn't want to be on; 4-6: mediocre to good ships; 7-8: above average to very good ships; 9-10: excellent ships.

Carnival Carnivale--4. First cruise, three nights to the Bahamas. Mediocre food and entertainment. Fun atmosphere.

NCL Seaward (now the Sea)--5. Seven nights to western Caribbean. Better than Carnival. Good entertainment, mediocre food.

RCI Sovereign of the Seas--7. Seven nights to eastern Caribbean. Better than NCL. Great service in the dining room, better food than our previous cruises. Entertainment good.

RCI Nordic Empress (now the Empress of the Seas)--7. Four nights to the Bahamas. Same as the Sovereign.

RCI Nordic Empress--8. Four nights from San Juan to St. Thomas and St. Martin (Christmas cruise). Even better than our previous RCI cruises--great service and better food than previous ones.

Celebrity Galaxy--8. Seven nights from San Juan to southern Caribbean. I'd score it higher in terms of the ship, but I did not like the itinerary as well. We learned we really like the days at sea.

Golden Princess--8. Seven nights to eastern Caribbean. We missed some of the Celebrity touches but thought the food was almost as good (and the desserts are better). Liked the 24/7 pools (but missed the saltwater pools). Liked the variety of entertainment that's available each evening.

Golden Princess--7.5. Seven nights to Canada and New England. Great ports to visit. Did not like personal choice dining. The entertainment wasn't as good as it had been the year before.

Star Princess--8.5. Seven nights to Alaska. Great ship and scenery.

Grand Princess--9. Seven nights to western Caribbean. Loved our Caribe Deck balcony cabin. That's the way to go. Great value for the money when sailing off season.

And last, not a real cruise ship as people think of them:

Maine Windjammer Cruises' Mercantile--9. A schooner cruise off the coast of Maine. Was a blast. Never thought we'd be helping to wash the dishes after meals on a cruise.

Our family Cruises...(Celebrity, Princess, RCL, and Carnival)

2004: 12/26 Caribbean Princess. My sister and my first cruise with the Boys!!! Celebrating Mom/Dad's 25th anniversary, it will be a sure 10!!!

2004: NCL to Alaska: parents loved the trip w/ their friends and enjoyed Alaska, but HATE NCL.

2003: Grand Princess: I didn't go, but my family says they give it a strong 9. Great food and service. They traveled with a huge group so they had a blast.

2002: Celebrity Millenium: 9.5: our whole families favorite cruise (ages:18-55 at the time)...amazing food, great itinerary, service w/a smile, only complaint would be that my sister and I (21, 18 at the time) kept the disco open with the help of 3 0ther firends from Mexico, not many young people

2002: NCL Bermuda: my parents again loved the cruise, but hated the line!

1999: Celebrity Century: 9: another great Celebrity experience, ship not as impressive as the Millie, but great food, service, and friends made.

1998: Rhapsody of the Seas (RCL): 6: cheesy entertainment, nothing to do for teenagers, a young women disappeared on our boat and the FBI was roaming the ship the whole cruise. Food and service was good, but a very depressing cruise due to unfortunate circumstances.

1997: Celebrity Galaxy: 10: I got my first kiss on that boat and my Best Friend came with my family. There was a group of 100 from Mexico City and the guys were beautiful, my Best Friend and my best Cruise to Date!

1996: Monarch of the Seas: 8.5: Went with 7 different families, food was average, entertainment was good, ship was very pretty.

1990: Carnival Holidy: 10: Hey, I was only 10 years old, everything was sooo cool and it was our families' first cruise. It was a great ship in those days.

To clarify, I meant that the Sun and Grand class pools are nicer than the Coral's. I found the pools themselves to be too small (and too deep). One pool in the main area is 5' in it's shallow end and much deeper on the other. The overhang of the deck above really encroaches on the open feeling of this deck and limits the desirable seating down by the pools. I just thought this area appears unfinished by comparison to other ships in the fleet.

As to the bump out - I felt that those folks were on display. Especially, those on the corners of the bump out. If you're in a "recessed" area adjacent to these and turn to the right or left, what you see are those balconies and the people on them. I also think the balconies themselves were smaller. This just may be a personal preference thing, as we don't particularly mind the often reviled Dolphin deck balconies on the Grand class.

Thanks for clearing that up. That's unforunate because I'm very small (about 5')

and I LOVE to swim on cruises. Are both pools that deep? Is there an aft pool?

I'm on a bumpout on the corner, so I guess some people will be able to look in...as long as I'm able to look out at the sea, I'm happy:) .
