Rare Radio Posted June 5, 2009 Author #28 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Hello everyone. . This morning in Boston, it is cloudy and cool (61 f), and the forecast is for showers later this afternoon. I had to find a Starbucks while in Braintree today. There is one very close to the hotel. Thank you thank you ! I should be leaving for Black Falcon Cruise Pier by around 1130 this morning. There shouldn't much much traffic heading to the pier. I made a video from my trip on Norwegian Majesty last summer to Bermuda. It can be viewed HERE. I seem to have been sailing with NCL alot recently. My last cruise was with Norwegian Gem (March 2009). That video can be viewed HERE . I will post again once onboard ! Thanks for tuning in. . . Radio :rolleyes:

negc Posted June 5, 2009 #31 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Good to see you Radio and will be watching all week for your excellent reports and pictures.. will you be doing a video? can't wait to see and experience the new pier area .. smooth sailing... Paul Paul, the new pier area (Heritage Wharf) is very attractive and the facilities in the entire Dockyard area have been noticeably upgraded over the past year or two. You should notice a tremendous improvement with the replacement of the Majesty with the Spirit, and while it isn't RCI or the Jewel, it is a very enjoyable cruise experience on a very attractive ship. Casino was actually very rewarding towards the end of the week, not that this information would be of much interest to you.LOL

Rare Radio Posted June 5, 2009 Author #35 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Hello everyone ! I made it onboard. . . . I left the hotel right at 1130AM, and made a short drive (10 mi) up to the Terminal. There wasn’t much traffic. There is a parking garage that is about a block away from the Terminal ($15/Day). There are many police officers to show you where to go and what to do. As previous reviews reported from other CC members, there was a long line to wait in to get your luggage checked in. I am not much for waiting in lines so I decided to just bring my luggage in the terminal and get is x-rayed there. I was able to carry my own luggage on board. I only had 1 bag, and a small roll-on, so it wasn’t any trouble. I was onboard by a little after 1PM. I dropped off my luggage, and grabbed a bite to eat. My first opinion of Norwegian Spirit is “Very Classy”. I can’t wait to tour the whole ship, and will have many photos to share with Cruise Critic. I toured this ship while it was in New York last summer, but it seems that I must have missed a lot. When you are sailing on a ship you get a better “feel” than if you are just getting a 2 hour tour. There is so much to see. This should be a fun week ! We will be sailing away at 4PM, and I must get to the Muster Drill by 330PM. I will try to get some photos from our sail away later tonight. Here are a few pics from my arrival! Thanks for tuning in . . . Radio Norwegian Spirit and Black Falcon cruise Terminal (From the Garage) The Luggage Line was very long. . . The Terminal was packed I am almost onboard. . . I made it ! Lets get this ship packed up. . .We are ready for Bermuda ! ! .

Dizzy Moo Posted June 5, 2009 #37 Share Posted June 5, 2009 I have been looking forward to your cruise as soon as I saw that you were going on another one. The ship looks very nice. I can't wait to see more of your pictures of her. If you have any looking back at the Boston port, can you post one or two of them? Thank you so much for allow all of us to cruise "virtually" with you. It's the next best thing to being there. :)
route507too Posted June 5, 2009 #38 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Radio, Glad to see you're live posts from the ship. Am excited to see what else you've got to tell/show us. :) I'm going to Alaska 6/20 on the NCL Star. I won't be able to do live posts from my cruise like you're doing, but on port days when I'm not paying crazy data charges on my phone I might be able to post some things to my blog. I love your idea of "posting live from." Can't wait to see more. :)

Rare Radio Posted June 5, 2009 Author #42 Share Posted June 5, 2009 Hello everyone . . . There is no Wi-Fi in the Cabin, so I must go to one of the public rooms for a wireless connection. I am currently in the Lifestyle Roon on deck 12 FWD. Sail away was very cloudy, and it started to rain. (It is raining very hard now), But there were a lot of passengers out on the open deck to say goodbye to Boston. There appears to be a lot of locals on board this week (I have been seeing tons of Red Sox, and Celtics caps and jackets). The Internet packages aren’t too bad. You can log on for .75/ min, or with a package you can get on line for .37 /min. They will be having a Welcome aboard Show tonight with CD Paul Scully. I have heard that he is very very funny. All of the lounges are open tonight with music, and entertainment. The shops opened tonight at 5PM. . . (We could still see the Boston skyline) We will arrive at the NEW Heritage Wharf Pier at the Dockyard in Bermuda on Sunday morning. I heard that Bermuda is sponsoring a Sunday Marketplace in the Dockyard, with outdoor vendors, lots of food, and games. They should be also having Destination Dockyard on Monday night, with entertainment, and lots of vendors at 8PM. Explorer of the Seas will be joining us on Monday morning at Kings Wharf. (They will be there until Tuesday afternoon) I love that you can get free in cabin movies on Norwegian Spirit. I have enjoyed being able to watch them for free on Majesty. (There was an extra charge for them on Gem) The seas appear to be calm tonight, however the Captain has suggested that the seas may get very rough tonight. He has already cautioned about going out on open decks tonight. Embarkation day is like Debarkation day . . . It makes you very tired. I must hit the Casino, and Show before I get too tired. . . Here are some pics from Sail Away . . . More pics tomorrow. Radio We are pulling away. . . We back slowly past the Pier area Passenger were out enjoying food and music We have turned around and are heading to Bermuda. A little grey, and a little rain, but we have calm seas. Forward Promenade Deck .

cindyscruise Posted June 6, 2009 #44 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Don' they take the luggage from you when you arrive at the port? I will have my mother with me who uses a walker and therefore cannot pull a suitcase also. It looked like everyone was pulling their own suitcases in your picture? welove2cruise232 Posted June 6, 2009 #47 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Radio, so happy to see you're doing another live blog -- from the beautiful Spirit! We are sailing on 7/17, so really looking forward to reading about your cruise! Ugh, I hate that they still have that huge line for luggage! I thought they'd have solved that mess by now -- last year was a mess! I'm actually wondering if we can manage our luggage by ourselves -- but I'm a terrible OVER-packer, and no doubt we will each have a carry-on and large suitcase, plus a garment bag... I see you arrived at the pier around 11:40 -- was the line as long as in your photo then? Just wondering if we'd be better off getting there earlier. We're less than an hour to the pier, so we could get there as early or as late as we want (so long as we don't miss the ship!). Not worried about dealing with the masses once we're inside the terminal, though, but that line for luggage is outrageous! Did you happen to notice if there was a VIP area in the terminal? 1010Transistor Posted June 6, 2009 #50 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Hey Dad! Glad to see you made it onboard! The ship seems pretty awesome so far. I really love how that hot tub is right on the back of the ship and you can look out over the water with an unobstructed view. I could totally use 30 minutes in there right about now! Have fun and don't do anything I wouldn't do! (In that case, you'll have a blast!)
