Bojangles Posted June 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2009 How far is the Library from the cruise terminal, and what would be the best way to get there. Thank you.
Rare Keith1010 Posted June 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2009 We visited there on a cruise a couple of years ago. We found the best way was by taxi. It was about a 25-30 minute taxi cab ride. The time may vary based on time of day and day of week. We were glad to have had the opportunit to visit the library. Keith
dblonde Posted June 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2009 Take the Silver Line Bus from the pier to South Station. Then take the red line subway to JFK/UMass station. From here take the free bus shuttle to the library, (these run every 20 minutes). This sounds more complicated than it is. admission $12.00 adults hours: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm This is a great museum. Rare Keith1010 Posted June 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2009 For us we didn't want to waste time waiting on public transporation as we had many things we wanted to do during our short stay in Boston so for us the taxi was the way to go. If we were there for a pre or post cruise that would likely have been different. So for us best equaled speed and convenience. Keith
138east Posted June 30, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2009 If you've read my posts, I'm a big fan of encouraging folks to take the Silver Line and the "T". For those of us who live in Boston this may not be complicated, but IMO the Silver Line back to South Station and then the transfer to the Red Line and then trying to find the shuttle bus at the JFK station is not what I would recommend. The cab should be about $25.

arizonaperson Posted July 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 29, 2009 How far is the Library from the cruise terminal, and what would be the best way to get there. Thank you. I was there in 2007 and took a taxi from Falcon cruise terminal and then when leaving the library we took a free shuttle to the metro line and got off in Little Italy had lunch and then a short walk to the Paul Revere statue and freedom trail area. We then took a taxi from the historic area back to the ship. The library was great.
