trixie54 Posted August 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Several years ago my DD & I had a blast at this little beach, right "behind" Philipsburg. We rented loungers with umbrellas, floaties, & spent a great day just sunning, floating, eating, & laughing. We'll be returning to St. Martin next Feb. on Oasis, & I'm wondering if anyone has been to this beach recently? We've been all over the island, to most of the beaches, & this time we want to stay near the ship, as my DGD (darling granddaughter) will be with us. Thanks! Aplmac Posted August 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Didn't spend any time on the beach but did take a few pics as we headed back to the ship via Water Taxi - and it's still there waiting on you! :) .
trixie54 Posted August 10, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted August 10, 2009 That's just how I remember it - thank you so much! Now I can't wait...
Cruising Bill Posted August 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2009 How does the rental of chairs/umbrellas work? Is it controlled by the adjacent hotel, or someone else? Are additional services like drinks, lunch available? Thanks for any info!
trixie54 Posted August 14, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Some cafes have chair/umbrella vendors - if you just stop along the beach almost anywhere, one will approach you. There are numerous little bars/cafes along the beach - we had very good grilled food at a couple - & you can take drinks, beer onto the beach. Some even had little restrooms - kinda nasty, but hey, they let us use them. We rented floaties & jet skis. We felt safe & happy the whole time. The Big Booper Posted August 15, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 15, 2009 There is a free public restroom right alongside the main water taxi pier, stays open til 6 PM.
collegecruiser346 Posted August 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Thats a very convenient beach as its right near the ship and the boardwalk area. There are several nice restaurants and cafe's right behind the beach. My favorite being "Islan Flava" Their conch fritters are excellent. They also have buckets of beer that you can take right on the beach.
rianvi Posted August 22, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2009 We were there this past Feb. and had a great day. We rented chairs and umbrellas and we were permitted to use a nearby restroom. You just asked for the key. The guys rented jetskis and my friend had her hair braided. Plan to go back next Feb. Anna:)
WendyVF Posted August 22, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2009 How do you get to this beach? Looks perfect and convenient!
138east Posted August 23, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2009 Look at the picture on this thread. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=977525&page=6. The beach (the one pictured above) is on the left and you can see where the ship is. You can walk, take a cab or the water taxi ($6 rt).
Rare jimbo5544 Posted August 26, 2009 #11 Share Posted August 26, 2009 It is a pretty short walk. I would feel I was getting ripped off taking a cab, unless there is a medical reason to do so. Under 10 minutes to walk it. Great beach with lots to do.
