Billz1979 Posted August 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I know this is one of these "why would you care about football when in paradise" things. But I would love to be able to catch my team while in port prior to disembarking on a Sunday afternoon. Does the "sports" pub on the ship ever play live broadcasts of games? anyone know? yogimax Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Yes, but the odds are that it will not be "your" team.
sailingawaysoon Posted August 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Whenever we've traveled during football season, my husband (along w/a ton of other people) have watched the NFL games. Last year he watched in the Schooner Bar area, but I'm sure each ship is different. Being on vacation is about relaxing and many people enjoy watching the game as relaxation. Good luck finding the game you're looking for!
negc Posted August 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Yes, but the odds are that it will not be "your" team. They usually show the national games which are on Fox, CBS or ESPN on Sundays and Mondays. If your team is one that gets a large proportion of their games selected for national broadcast, your chances of seeing the games are pretty good. Last year however, they did not carry the NBC Sunday night games and as a result even though we were on a ship that sailed from Boston with a very large contingent of Patriots fans, we were not able to watch that game onboard.:( We did see the games that were broadcast earlier on the other networks.:)
akcruz Posted August 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Don't remember the name, but on Freedom class the lounge outside Studio B had both College and Pro games on last November. As others have said, it wasn't all, but more than I expected. DH was happy!
Lauderdalegal Posted August 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2009 My husband watched the Dolphins packed in with all of the other fans at one of the bars only to come back to the room and find me watching it!!!

martinchem Posted August 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2009 We've watched playoff games and the superbowl on Carnival ships with the seaside theatre large outdoor screens(10 x 20ft).
cruiseky Posted August 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I love watching football games while on a cruise. When we sailed on Princess they had Monday Night Football of the large outdoor screen. On one of our RCCL cruises they had a football part going on in one of the large lounges where they set up a large srceen and provided "football" food, hot wings and such. olemissreb Posted August 11, 2009 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2009 I would only watch football if "a certain team was playing" while I'm cruising!! :D:D:D Let me quess - that wouldn't be the Atlanta Falcons would it??? :D:D:D Saints got rid of Duece McAllister so I won't watch them anymore. Wasn't really a fan even when I lived in Slidell, LA. Always been a Packer fan myself. We're sailing in April, so football season will be over, but this is all good info to file away if we ever decide to sail during football season. I'll still wear my Duece jersey proudly, because he is/was one class act! You lived in Slidell, and not a fan? That's rough. I miss 870 AM radio station listening to the all the shows, the pre game, post game, and Hap's Point after (may he and Buddy D rest in peace!!) Geaux Saints!! :D
Scotto97 Posted August 11, 2009 #15 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Now you've got me excited - my two favorite things, Football and cruising !! My upcoming cruise will be ending on NFL's opening day Sunday so I'll have to get off the ship quickly to see the Cowboys win their first game. The only reason I rooted for the Saints at all was because of Duece. As you can tell by my screenname - he went to my Alma Mater! Loved watching him in college!
