Lattitude members...anyone heard of this?

Okay....hubby and I were out Friday night having a few cocktails. Someone we knew came over and we were telling them about our upcoming cruise on the Spirit. They said that they had been to Bermuda on the Majesty many times...as well as a few other NCL cruise. We asked if they had any do's or dont's and they told us a few things. The main thing they told us not to forget to do is....to find out which bar has the designated 15% lattitudes discount. They told us that evey NCL ship has one bar that is designated for lattitude members and that there is a 15% discount. I told them that I had never heard of that perk. Has anyone else?

TIA

News to me . I cant believe its true if not one cc member has ever mentioned it. ( that I know of );)

I have never heard it mentioned either. The person swears that it is true. The only thing I can think of is that it may be on certain ships....but that doesnt sound logical either. Oh well.....just thought I would toss it out here to see if anyone else had heard of it. I think it would be a well published perk on these threads if it were true.

That was just about the only perk years ago. Long gone. The good news the 10% discount in the gift shop is back as a latatudes perk. The extra 10% on duty free was a nice extra on the Dawn last week

How long ago did they stop the perk? These people have sailed in the past few years. Though they are more of a party-type than we are......maybe they thought they were still getting the discount. :p

Maybe the last time I saw it was 2003 or 2004. By that time it was only during certain hours as pointed out in one bar.

How do you get the 10% discount? I have only sailed once before but will be going on another soon. Was I supposed to get a lattitudes card or something? All I have is my lattitudes number on my cruise rewards certificate. Should I take that or can they just look me up on the computer?

Thanks all. :)

On your room key it states your latitudes tier. So when you pay they will see that you are a latitudes member. :)

Yes as a matter of fact. I think when were on the Sea or maybe the Dream it was the bar on the same deck as the Le Bistro. There was a little lounge where cigar smoking was allowed. We got 15% off of all our drinks.

Not sure if it is still in affect, but it was a nice little perk.

We got Latitudes cards in the mail. Call or email NCL's latitude department and have them mail you one (or two).

If it is we will never know with both the Dream and Sea gone from the NCL fleet. ;)

When I booked my suite on the Sky, I was told by the NCL rep that I would have "exclusive entry into the Plantation Club" as one of the suite perks. No clue what that means but could this maybe have something to do with discounted drinks? Just jumping to conclusions as I have no idea what else it could possibly mean!

Anyone else have any ideas???

The last time I saw it was in the welcome aboard latitudes letter with the ship pins attached a few years ago. They would list your perks and the 15% at a certain bar/lounge was one of them.

I believe during the day it is the concierge lounge (no drink specials) outside Cagney's where suite passengers enjoy breakfast or lunch.

I remember on our last cruise in March on the Jewel, that we got a letter that said there was a 10% discount at the duty free shops. I think it may have been only one day or time. We did buy some stuff and did not get a discount....it must have been the wrong day.

On our first few cruises the Spinnaker Lounge offered a discount for Latitudes members.

We haven't used recently due to casino perks, but I never heard it was cancelled...and we weren't any tier, just past-guests.

We have been on 3 NCL cruises within a year and will soon be on our 4th. We never got a Latitudes card. We got the Latitudes perks such as they are but not a card per se. Are we supposed to have actual cards?

We got our cards back in 2006, so perhaps they aren't sending them out anymore? Anybody get one since 2006? But like someone said in an earlier post, the information is on your Sea Pass (room key), anyway!

Here's a link to the latest Latitudes benefits: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=MembershipBenefits

Once you are a silver member (you have completed 5 cruises) you receive special discounts and the details are provided once you are aboard. I believe pins and cards are a thing of the past. Also at sea benefits are only available on cruises of 5 nights or longer, which may or may not apply to discounts.
