We are onboard now. There was no 11am update today. (Normally there are 2 -- at 11am and 5pm.) But for the 5pm update the captain stated that no decisions could be made until they hear from FEMA and government officials regarding the airport and port. He said "Miami is on the table" and "in my opinion, San Juan for a Saturday return does not look possible."

He promised a more detailed update tomorrow at 11am.

Currently watching The Weather Channel and the whole island has no power. And the airport has some damage. So I hope you have a Plan B for getting home.

What damage was shown at the airport? All I have seen was that it would open on Friday.

From the company that operates the San Juan Airport...Luis Muñoz Marín Airport has been closed since September 19, 7.30pm. The terminal buildings suffered minor damage in sections that were out of operation before the airport was closed. Airport management is evaluating damages and undertaking necessary works to resume operations, which is estimated to happen on September 21, on a limited basis. Airport infrastructure is insured against these events, therefore the Company does not expect significant economic impact.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully, operations will resume ASAP as air and boat are the only way in or out to bring in much needed supplies.

My friends on board should be quite happy since they are from Miami and disembarking in Miami would be perfect for them.

So they leave the folks who need to fly in for the next cruise hanging longer.

Just so those on board are aware. SJU airport announced they are closed until at least 5pm on Saturday. (I say at least because they didn't say they would open at 5pm Saturday.)

So the current cruise is one day longer, ends in Ft. Lauderdale, and is the 9/23 cruise cancelled?

Can't wit to see what the airlines will charge people for flights home from Fort Lauderdale - and if will they give refunds for flights booked from San Juan.
