  1. Yes, they close the beaches due to rough surf conditions and/or poor water quality after heavy storms. We were up the other end of the Northern Beaches Peninsula today and the beach was closed to swimming so that’s why I was curious about Manly. Given your bird photo today, if you are not already familiar with it, you would love the online vision of the wild cockatoos & rainbow lorikeets that visit the balcony of this lady’s apartment in Manly - the almond cafe
  2. Another beautiful day in Sydney for you. Was Manly beach open for swimming? Had the pleasure of seeing a fairy penguin swimming in the waters of Manly Wharf, in the afternoon, a couple of years ago.
  3. A beautiful sunny Sunday in Sydney. End of daylight savings. Max was very confused when he got an early morning walk from me (usually I do the after dinner walks). He kept looking back at our house wondering where DH was….. Once DH was up we headed to Palm Beach (Pittwater side). DH decided to walk up to the Barrenjoey Lighthouse via the steps for the first time (he timed himself - 6 mins). I took our usual path up. Views on the way up - Pittwater one side and Palm Beach on the other. We are coming back to do a guided tour of the Barrenjoey Lighthouse at the top of the headland next Sunday. DH joined me on the way back down. Said the steps would be too slippery on the descent. Nice views on the return. Had a nice coffee and casual lunch. Obligatory (from me) lorikeet photo. Walked back to the beach past “Summer Bay” (from Australian soap tv series - Home & Away - very popular with the Brits) I think this is the chip stealing culprit mentioned above… Beach closed but beautiful relaxing on the sand in the sun
  4. Not the Royal Botanical Gardens. Darling Harbour often has fireworks on Saturday nights but if you are visiting Sydney best to check their website to confirm the dates & time for the month you are visiting.
  5. @FromSea2ShiningSea Just wow. Not sure which I love more - your resort apartment the onsen or the food! Loveky to catch with family. How long did that train ride take?
  6. I remember when that video of the “model” getting bit by the pig on the beach in Barbados went viral. Just googled it and the video comes up with a couple of other incidents in the water during tours. Those bitten in the water clearly didn’t follow the advice posted by @Sunshine3601
  7. + 1 on the hands free (and everything else). I think I’ve told this story before but when the kids were teens we were on Voyager and I did the cupcake decorating class (kids weren’t interested). I returned to the cabin to excitedly show the kids my icing effort - puppy dog cupcake. I started opening the cabin door - in the juggle of door and plates - the cupcake went flying and landed icing down in the cabin carpet. My teens thought it was hilarious and it’s always the thing they remember most about the expensive NYE cruise 🤦‍♀️
  8. I know that this is a Royal forum but I have to share this. DD finally did her check-in for our upcoming cruise. She loves cruising but hasn’t cruised Princess before. This morning when she FaceTimed me, she told she had done her check-in and excitedly announced that she was getting a medallion. I said yes, the medallion is needed to open the cabin door. Her face dropped and she said “oh, does everyone get one?” 🤣
  9. I’ve not heard of this either. Glad Ricky is ok. How do cats become anaemic? Does your daughter have pet insurance?
  10. You certainly had a lovely day in Sydney today. Glad you such a gorgeous weather. We are expecting similar weather tomorrow. Interesting that you call our Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos “Greater”. We don’t use that term here. Enjoy your day in Manly tomorrow.
  11. We had a wet weather event in Sydney and the East Coast in the last 48hrs. Flights, airport trains and cruises were impacted. A pet dog that had just had abdominal surgery on managed to get out from his unlocked cage inside the vets, and walk out of the unmanned and unlocked vet premises (no idea how THIS happened!) in the early hours of the Friday morning. The community banded together to help the distraught owner doorknock homes & businesses and search in absolutely abysmal weather. Woke up to blue skies and sunshine this morning in Sydney this morning and the best news possible - at 2am - a local out searching heard whimpering and this big beautiful dog was found ❤️
  12. @DaniDanielle, @mets07, @lenquixote66, @HBE4 that would be a frightening experience. Glad you are ok (your homes & pets too).
  13. Sorry for all those who have been impacted. The rain has gone. It’s blue skies, sunshine and breezy in our part of Sydney now.
  14. Always knew you were a clever lady Dani! I sincerely wish that you get a chance to wear your jewellery again in normal circumstances sooner than you anticipate
  15. It’s wet, cool & miserable in Sydney. I’m happy though because it’s finally perfect weather for me to try on all my winter gear before packing ✈️
  16. The compensation overall is generous but they have cut the cruise short by 3 days and instead of going somewhere warm & tropical 🌴🍹🐠 and international, they are cruising just donestic to somewhere the weather could be potentially miserable. The 50% drinks offer is a last ditch effort to stop the majority from cancelling…if ever there was a market that half price drinks would be a good enticement - it’s certainly Australia. Cheers 🍻🥂
  17. Good news that the doctor gave you the green light. Nice to be able to get back to normal. Interesting that he gave you the comparison in detail after the op. @FromSea2ShiningSea + 1 from me too.
  18. Welcome to Sydney! Hope you’ve got some indoor plans for tomorrow (Friday) - there is a severe weather warning for Sydney/NSW coast tomorrow. Expecting very heavy rain & flooding.
  19. Any Tom Jones fans here? My friend and her husband saw him perform this week. At 83 he was in fine form and fine voice They were very impressed.
  20. Yep. Was just chatting to my Loyal to Royal work colleague about this. They weren’t booked on it but if they had been - she and her partner would have been delighted with the 50% off drinks offer (on top of their Diamond free drinks).
