@MJSailors your condo complex land vacay sounds lovely. I can relate to the skyrocketing price of holiday rentals. Every year, DH says he won’t book a holiday house again for next year but he always does…I don’t know what his upper limit will be. I honestly thought we had already exceeded it. Maybe I will find out when he eventually retires

It was 12C and pouring rain by the time I finished walking Max after work. Thank you Sydney for preparing me for Alaska…Not surprised it was cold, our NSW alpine areas had their first snowfall today (3 months ahead of schedule). DH’s nephew has unfortunately joined the Canadian broken bones club. He broke his femur on the last session of the last day of the ski season at his resort in BC.

On Saturday, I FaceTimed my “kids” asking them what they needed me to bring over from Australia for them. My son just added socks and his favourite tracksuit pants to the wish list I already posted here. My daughter just asked for the sunscreen from our Cancer Council shops. My son’s ski resort in BC closed yesterday. My daughter’s ski resort in BC will close this weekend.

One of my BILs will retire this year after a lifetime as a Minister in the Anglican Church. I suspect one of the reasons he is not fit and at the ideal weight like his brothers, is that he has enjoyed the superb baking skills of the ladies from his country parishes. How wonderful @Lionesssthat your son, DIL and adorable Zoey will be living closer to you.

We’ve not had pet insurance for the similiar reasons but my friends with pedigree pets have made it a priority to have it.

What an trail! I am impressed that you & your wife happily did an extreme trail with no research. If I saw an extreme rating, I would be “heck,no!”. The kiddos made me aware of Alltrails last year, so now, every time DH suggests a bushwalk that is new to me, Alltrails reviews are my go to. Basically I want to know how many stairs are involved….

The other thing you may like (if you haven’t done it already) that is bird related is the wild lorikeet feeding at Australian Reptile Park at Gosford, just north of Sydney. You can’t get there by public transport but if you hire a car for the day, it’s a very easy drive. They have ranger fed lorikeet feeding once a day (they also have free range kangaroos and lots of Aussie animals & reptiles and spiders)

I was so looking forward to our first visit to Sitka next month on the Grand Princess THEN I discovered that we will be in port with the Quantum of the Seas! So disappointed. My friend has cruised to New Zealand on the Ovation of the Sea four times. When she returned from their most recent cruise, even she said she became aware of how the smaller NZ towns are completely overwhelmed when all the Ovation passengers disembark for the day in port. Unfortunately, that will be our experience in Sitka. Sigh. Smart move by Junea.
