No, the Move Up bidding does not involve the TA.

Some of the discussion here relate to the fact that a particular big box  wholesaler will not allow Celebrity  to offer their clients a Move Up bidding offer. Probably a contact stipulation?

I recently booked a cruise through a TA, not the big box one I typically use. I received a MoveUp offer in an email and the email cc'd my TA.  The email address they used for my TA was their 'general' email and not the specific email address for my individual travel consultant.

When my friend questioned the big box wholesaler as to why they do not participate, the answer was because the email offer is sent to their general email and they cannot monitor that address sufficiently to handle all the emails.  My guess is they opted out of the program because of this, thus making clients ineligible.  I know for a fact I have not received any offer for a MoveUp on cruises I've booked with this big box wholesaler.

Last time we bid on a RS (this past Feb) we called Celebrity and were told we would retain current Perks plus get any benefits the suite included (laundry, unlimited specialty dining, bar set up, etc) CC points would given based on booked category as Cruise a holic said. And totally agree with chemmo, hard to go back! We have gone back since we’re only willing to spend so much on a cruise and haven’t found the great deal we got on a RS a year ago but we keep trying to go back to a veranda and always end up upgrading to at least a SS! Enjoy the Royal Suite. If you are willing to share what was your bid?

1500ea was the maximum bid which is what we bid; the minimum was $500ea.  We figured this might be our only chance to ever sail in a royal suite as they are so pricey.  We have been spoiled on the sky suites but figured since we got a great deal on a suite gty, why not try?  We are excited to infinity and beyond, for sure!  :-)  :-)  :-)

Thanks, Luvcrusn.  I tried that, and it still does not work for me.  So maybe participation by clients of the Big Box is really disabled.  I have sent an email to the move up program, we will see if they respond.

    Tom & Judy

Curious if you've received a response yet.  A friend of mine asked one of their reps why they do not participate.  Their reply is because it gets sent to their 'general' email account and they cannot monitor that account sufficiently to handle all of the emails.  Tacky excuse imho!

  4. We placed a MoveUp bid on a royal suite from an S1 Sky suite which was accepted.  We have no promotion associated with our cruise.  Has anyone actually received the benefits that come with the royal suite after moving up on a MoveUp offer?  I've read conflicting info as to what you will/will not receive.

CELEBRITY MOVE UP TRACKER (effective April 19, 2019; but can back-fill data, if available)

    • Cruise Sail Date:  6/5/19
    • Date email offer received:  4/26/19
    • Captain’s Club Tier [“PREVIEW” = first Celebrity Cruise]:  Elite+

    • Bid?  Yes/No:  Yes

    If YES -  Bidding Details:

    • Cabin Category:  RS
    • Bid Offer: $1500pp
    • Notification Date:  5/6/19
    • Accepted / Rejected: Accepted

    General Comments (offer details, etc.)

MoveUp minimum offer was CS $300pp; RS $500pp; PH $900pp.  Maximum bid was $1500pp for the RS & $1500pp for the PH. Don't recall what the max was for the CS.  Bid on the RS and on the PH and bid the max on each since we booked the original cabin on a gty for only $2279pp.  Figured this would be our only shot at a royal suite because the regular prices were out of our reach. The going price for the RS was over $6100pp.

  5. I made this chart right after the new program started. On Royal a passenger can reach Diamond(=Elite) after 12 7 night cruises in an inside cabin. On Celebrity 21 7 night cruises are required..... I think....

    enhance

You are correct. Celebrity gives 2pts per night for inside, so 300 pts divided by 2 = 150 nts divided by 7 nts = 21 cruises with 3 pts still needed to meet the 300 pts. It takes 14 seven night cruises with 6 pts still needed if one sails in a veranda (3 pts per night).

Royal gives 1pt per night, so 80pts divided by 7nts = 11 cruises with 3 pts still needed to meet the 80 pts.

We just completed a cruise on RCCL and there were 700+ Diamond and above members. And there more than twice the number of Pinnacles onboard than the number of Zeniths we've ever experienced onboard Celebrity.

If the reciprocity changes, Celebrity will definitely need a larger venue than Michaels.

  6. What was the problem with Cpt. George? We've sailed with him previously and he was amazing.

Probably too early to know for sure who'll be your captain for Sept. 2019 but there's a thread "Who's On Board: Officers, Staff..." that contains a chart listing the officers, etc. and is updated as cruisers inform who's onboard. Check closer to your sail date. The link is:

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2522361

  7. I've read Celebrity is increasing their prices but I don't know the amount. It used to be $11.80 per day to upgrade. That times 21 would be $249.40 so it might be a better alternative to just pay the price difference on a per drink basis.

  8. We are leaving monday the 14th & my wife would like to know if she can get a DIRTY MARTINI & if she can what bar?? We have the CLASSIC PKG.

    george35

Any bar except the Martini Bar, provided the vidka you ask for is included in your classic package, should allow you a dirty martini in the 'smaller' martini glass. I think you can get Smirnoff or Absolut. There may be a few other choices of vodka but I don't what they are. Just ask the server or bartender.

  9. There is no rental car agency near Pier 91 (near defined as a short walk) so you should probably just choose one in the city and plan on taking a cab/uber/lyft or check with the agency to see if they can drive you (doesn't Enterprise do this?).

Thanks so much for the info. I've been doing research all day...ugh! Enterprise and Alamo are the closest to the pier but I can't find any info on their website about a shuttle to the pier. I will call them and ask. It's a LOT less to pick up and drop off at their downtown location so considering this instead. The money saved will easily pay for a taxi from the airport to their office to pick up the car and a taxi from their office to the ship .

  10. We were in cabin 6309 on the Equinox the week of 12/2 and loved it! We've stayed higher up across the back so were concerned with the 'roof' of Tuscan obstructing our view. This was not a problem and there was no noise problem. Yes, we had a little soot a night or two but not all the time. I would caution that crew hands walk on top of Tuscan's 'roof' a few times throughout the cruise so don't be surprised if you see someone outside your balcony door. We love the aft balconies.

  11. It's not clear if the $100 change fee per person applies when the price goes down on the cruise you've booked and you want to re-book at the lower rate. It's not stated that it applies in this situation. If the change fee applies, that's a reason not to book with the NRD as we've had several cruises drop in price after booking, and some a couple of times.

  12. I ran across this while trying to find out why our 2/2/19-2/7/19 cruise no longer showed on X's website since I suspected it had been chartered:

    https://www.thesmoothjazzcruise.com/booking-procedures/

Still no one at X will confirm it has been chartered so I can only assume this charter may not sell out and could get cancelled??? The 2/2/19 sailing still shows on several TA websites but I received an error message when I tried to book it.

I've also heard rumors that the Infinity will be going into dry dock last week of January for the new improvements. So I'll just sit and wait to hear something, knowing not to book air in case it gets cancelled/chartered.

  13. Call them back and have them apply the Captians Club loyaloffer to the booking. 350pp discount on 7 day and 500pp on 9 or more. My wife and I did this on Saturday but reservations kept saying it couldn't be done and I kept reading them the promo including the fine print. 1.5 hour later all booked.

    Good luck

Good for you! I kept telling both my TA and the Celeb rep that the email said 'additional savings' and that the cruise I wanted was listed under the sailings it applied to. I got the same song and dance as the OP about the exciting deals rate and was told the email did not apply. I gave up after 30 mins and probably should not have. My next recourse is maybe to contact onetouch@celebrity. It makes no sense at all that when one selects a specific deal and clicks on the 'see sailings' for that deal that the sailings don't show the actual price and promos for that deal!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

  14. The email stated 'We're announcing a special limited-time offer just for loyal Captain's Club members like you. Join us on select Caribbean sailings in November and December, and we'll reward you with additional savings up to $500 per person.'

It was deceptive to me in that 1) there was no 'additional savings' and 2) it wasn't 'just for loyal Captain's Club members' because sailings they had under this promo were already part of the exciting deals, or other offers/promos, and were already priced lower under those so the 'additional savings' did not apply.

Did any of you find any that only the 'loyal' members got a special deal on?

  15. I'm hoping it's for a new tier for Captain's Club. I know it's a pipe dream, but I can always hope. ;)

This would be nice but don't think Lisa's new hire has had long enough to develop new level(s). Lisa stated on her President's sailing in August that the new person would begin in September. I'd anticipate at least a year before anything is decided, but I'd love to be proven wrong :D:D:D

  16. Booked directly with Celebrity. I have been on many Celebrity cruises and this was my first upgrade offer, do not know how they determine who receives the emails to upgrade, however when I upgraded the person who upgraded us said we should always let him know when we book and he would make sure we would be the first to receive invites to upgrade in the future. :D

Thanks for the info. We usually transfer our booking to a travel agent to get extra OBC. I kinda thought Celebrity offered upsells and upgrades first to those who are booked directly with them and none are left by the time they trickle down to those with a travel agent.

Have a great time on your cruise!

  17. yes the captain is george-see him occasionally walking round the boat , doesn’t stop to talk with anyone as other Captains often do. Very clear factual announcements

F&B Director , Demir, seems to be everywhere always interacting as is the GRM John and the Hotel Director

Hmmm....He was very personable on the Century but maybe he's changed or just doesn't know anyone. He was very approachable from our experience.
