  1. Prevention is the best cure. If you wait until you are seasick before taking any remedy, whether natural or pharmaceutical, then you have to wait for your body to metabolize it. It will take longer on a full stomach. "Natural", plant based remedies may or may not work well or at all, depending on just how sick you feel. However my DD had success with taking a couple of ginger tablets an hour or so before embarking on a snorkeling trip, where she knew the motion of the boat would be an issue for her.
  2. Depends on the port. Depends on the weather. Depends on the activity I have planned. I'll wear my Birkenstocks or Tevas in warm weather if just going to the beach or on a level strolling surface around the port. Sketchers with an insole if doing some serious walking for most of the day. My regular walking sneakers, that have a good treaded sole, if the weather is cooler or the walking will include a lot of uneven surfaces. For serious hikes, my hiking shoes. But everyone's feet are different, so brand names don't mean much. I have found it best to go to a good shoe store, get properly sized and fitted, and try several shoes until I find one that fits me best. Comfort trumps style when it comes to hours of walking.
  3. If you had read some of the previous posts, you would have seen that requirements for proof of vax status is the same . A non US citizen cannot enter the US without proof of covid vaccination. OP is not a US citizen.
  4. I'm more interested in the ship itinerary and general ship ambiance when it comes to bookings. Can't say I've ever looked at an activity sheet before boarding. But if you go to the boards for the lines you may be interested in, you'll likely find live reviews of current or recent sailings. You can check for activity sheets there.
  5. You know what they say about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Why? Is it like hitting yourself repeatedly with a hammer because it feels so good when you stop?
  6. Look at her location, under her user name. Plain as day.
  7. As mentioned, unless you are extremely light sensitive, the blackout drapes should suffice. If you are in one of the aft suites then you would be directly under the terrace pool,so you may here some noise during the day. if you are in a side balcony, it shouldn't be as much of a problem. But ear plugs are cheap and don't take up much room in your luggage. A white noise app is also a good idea.
  8. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're wrong there. Best to confirm the requirements for land crossings on the US govt site, The question of getting on or off the cruise ship is moot if you can't even get into the US.
  9. Agree that it may be cruise line dependant. On one of our b2bs (can't remember which one, but it was Caribbean) they held DHs rum until the end of our 2nd leg. OTOH, on a different line, they didn't take our port stop booze purchase at all.
  10. Well let's see. Some people may not have a lot of choices in flight times, if they want to get home the same day. Some people would prefer not to spend hours and hours cooling their heels while waiting for later flights. Some people may not be flying at all, but are faced with a long drive. I find nothing more stressful about a 7:30 disembarkation than a 9:00 one, and it certainly doesn't ruin anything. It just means getting up a bit earlier. What's the big deal? If disembarking in distant, foreign ports, we prefer to extend our stay by several days. However, with US ports, the earlier the flight home, the better for us.
  11. Given your age, I think Carnival, NCL, or RCCL would suit you. With a nudge towards RCCL.
  12. Instead of doing a B2B that ends in Seattle, can you find a S2S where the second leg ends in Vancouver? Or where you have a day between the 2 legs and on 2 different ships?
  13. Another YAGE thread? This is not an airport; no requirement to announce your departure.
  14. Either look at the cruise port website for their ship schedule, or check out cruisetimetables. com
  15. Bo, we've done a B2B (29 days) on Connie that started in Abu Dhabi and ended in Shanghai. This was in January/Feb before the pandemic. We thought the Connie was a great ship and would have no compunction about sailing on any of the M class ships. However at that time of year, the more northern ports (From Hong Kong north) we found chilly or downright cold. The weather in the more southerly regions was significantly warmer. Something to consider if you will be sailing in Asia in the winter months.
  16. Probably because the reservation actually belongs to the TA until you embark. That is why you have to go through the TA for anything related to the booking. Give the TA the money that you rightfully owe back to the cruise line.
  17. Hold on. You've booked the Princess transfer to the airport for all 4 of you? Then you should all be given luggage tags to coincide with the shuttle transfer departure times, which will be early. A few days before disembarkation you should be given a form asking for flight departure info. You'll be assigned a place and time to meet before going to the luggage hall and then to the coach.
  18. Take a look at the Eurostar site for train times. I don't think it is reasonable to try to do this on the day of embarkation. Delays are certainly not unheard of. Plan on arriving in A'dam the evening before.
  19. Can't think of a single pro that would outweigh the cons I've seen posted after just about any inaugural cruise.
  20. Since you are now assigned to Blu, your previous MDR reservations should have been cancelled. I don't think you can now make MDR reservations in advance. When you board, go directly to Blu, speak to the Maitre d' there, and explain what you want to do. He will have to try to arrange your dining reservations.
  21. Your father can't dine in Blu because it is restricted to aqua class ( or suite guests on a space available basis). He can just walk up to any MDR and request a table. There may be a wait, depending on the demand at that time.
  22. Stop and think about it. How many pills in the Rx? How big are the pills/capsules? I have one Rx bottle that is very small. Another bottle for a different med that is 4 times the size. Same number of pills and the larger one is completely full, while the smaller one is only half full.
  23. It's probably the deadline for the large TAs to return their unsold blocks of cabins.
  24. You're probably going to find the least expensive cruises on Carnival, but you can check out prices on a few of the online cruise travel agencies. Short, closed loop cruises from US ports don't usually require a passport for US born citizens, although those are always preferable. Just realize that short cruises from the more northerly cruise ports are likely pretty limited in the ports they can sail to in the time available. If you don't have experience with the extra costs that come with cruises, speaking with a cruise travel agent is the way to go.
