7600 passengers? Would Celebrity build a ship like that?
Loracpin2 replied to Bently57's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I've commented on this on many posts and will once again. We were on a Med cruise on the Galaxy in 1997. During the last formal dinner, the Maitre'd told us that RCI just purchased Celebrity. We all looked at each other and agreed...this can't be good!!!! -
7600 passengers? Would Celebrity build a ship like that?
Loracpin2 replied to Bently57's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We took a family vacation this past summer on the Oasis. Double occupancy is 5400. But this ship sailed with triple and quads for a total of 6800. With the exception of enjoying every minute with spent with our Children and Grandchidren ........ it was by far the worst cruising experience we have ever had!!!!!! -
Here's The Problem - What's The Solution
Loracpin2 replied to Hawkstar33's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I've posted this before and will say it again. While sailing in Europe on the Galaxy in 1997, as we were seated at dinner, the Maitre'd informed our of table of 8 that Royal Caribbean had just purchased Celebrity. As he walked away, we ALL commented "this can't be good" and little by little the Celebrity brand is no longer what it used to be. Hoping our upcoming January Apex sailing won't be our last Celebrity cruise!! -
BRAVO!!!!!!!!

Below is the linc for the S-class ships spreadsheets. Since I suffer from motion sickness, when lying in bed my body has to be moving forward. I have never booked a port side veranda cabin without using this key informations source. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lYvbGYBf2WB3jSFTVuliFltauVnhdqfheWJTeFujSbs/edit#gid=1222673677 Cabin #1201 has the bed by the balcony which means your body will be moving forward.

The first time we sailed with our entire Family in 2012 (Adult Children & Spouses and 8 Grandchildren) Grandkids ages were 3,5,5,5,6,11,11@13). It would have have never occurred to my husband and me that anything this unconscoinable could happen on a cruise ship. Fortunately we did everything as a Family and our Grandkids were never out of any of the 8 adults site at any time.

Just a Question: Would you support "no cell phone" areas on Ships?
Loracpin2 replied to Bluewake's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I will also join you on the curmudgeon bench!!! It is definitely something I don't want to be subject to while seated on a pool lounge cheer, relaxing, reading a book, talking to another, or during dinner!!. Before I say anything else. I am a 75 year old grandmother who has a cell phone and calls, e-mails and texts with it. Cruising aside, it now seems like no matter where we go or where we are, we are constantly surrounded by people (of all ages) who cannot function without a cell phone in their hands which makes everyone around them subject to their conversations. I'll close by saying that my husband and I are very fortunate that our Family (total of 16 which includes us, Children and Granchildren) all live within a 30 mile drive from us. My only request when they all come for a Family dinner is that all cell phones are turned off....and very happy to say it has worked perfectly!!! -
Since the beds can always always be made up as a king or twins when we board, I never give it a thought. But since the direction the beds face (they alternate between forward or aft) and I suffer from motion sickness that is my complete focus when my husband and I book a cabin. Perfect example is we chose Cabin 11230 for our January Apex sailing. If you look at the deckplan, you'll notice the door inset when entering the room. That's how I knew to book that cabin to ensure the direction of the bed is facing forward. P.S If it isn't, we'll just have them remake the bed linens in the opposite direction..🤣😝

What do you mean by configuration? Bed by the door or by the window?? Headboard facing or aft?? As a person who suffers from sea sickness, I won't book a cabin unless I know the direction the bed is facing. What is your cabin number??

Having cruised on the Oasis in July with Family, not only did we receive housekeeping once a day which was mediocre at best, there were plenty of dirty areas all over the ship especially in the Windjammer. We have made the decision that even with our Diamond status on Royal, we will never book with them again!!

We're booked on the Apex January 6 sailing and I have already set my expectations (when we booked 5 months ago) this would most likley not be the Celebrity experience we've been accustomed too!!

Exact Guidelines we had to follow for our 55th Anniversary celebration cruise with Family. All 8 Grandchildren were booked across the hall from their parents. One grandson was 21 so all three boys were booked in one room. One of the 5 granddaughters was 22 and we were able to book adjoining rooms with 2 of the girls in the room with the 22 year old and the other 2 girls (one was 20 in the adjoining room.

Celebrity Pass ....new purchase for priority boarding, etc ?
Loracpin2 replied to Smmessineo's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thanks for your reply. Wasn't aware I didn't update what line was my favorite. If I did, I would have changed to Oceania but they are now also having issues so not sure where we go from here. Anxiously hoping our upcoming January Apex sailing will be as close as possible to the Celebrity experiences that made it our cruise line of choice in 1992. -
Celebrity Pass ....new purchase for priority boarding, etc ?
Loracpin2 replied to Smmessineo's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The year I began began posting has nothing to do with when we began sailing. As I mentioned in my original post we have Elite+ status with Celebrity. We began sailing with them in 1992 on the Horizon. No balconies, no bells & whistles, just a deluxe cruising experience. The evening (1997) we found out Royal purchased Celebrity (sailing on a 10 night Med cruise on the Galaxy) we were seated at a table for 8 having dinner and the Maitre'd shared the news. When he walked away we all looked at each other and said......"this can't be good" and 26 years later we were correct!!!! -

I'll begin by saying we are Captain's Club Elite+ with Celebrity and that's most likely the farthest we will go. As for "taking the dive" that began when Royal Caribbean purchased the line in 1997 and is now, in my opinion, officially a mass market line.
