  1. There is not just P&O doing cruises to the Baltic, all the other lines are doing them as well, so there seems plenty of people happy to do an SPB free Baltic cruise, including us.
  2. Apart from the passenger numbers which may be too much for some ports, then the newest ships will have no problem in the ports that can accept anything around the same size as Britannia, since the new ships have a very similar footprint, the only issue may be draught, although the bigger container vessels ca be 17m dr. which is a lot more than the Excel classes 11.8m.
  3. No idea, but I guess its lack of demand for P&O offerings. Our cancelled cruise had only 5 ports, the replacement Princess cruise, also part of Carnival, has 9 ports. Which option would you choose.
  4. With less than 2000 passengers and sailings averaging 15 nights plus, that's 24 cruises a year with 50,000 passengers, probably less since many will do more than one cruise a year. If Iona sails full she will do 36 cruises a year totally 180,000 passengers. Aurora may be the most popular ship on this forum, but we are not representative of the average cruiser.
  5. Probably but how many people have anything approaching that level of sophistication, or cost. IMO the main reason modern CD systems don't compare with old vinyl systems, is because they are packaged in tiny little boxes, which makes them very convenient. Play them both through a quality amp and speaker and I am sure the difference would be minimal.
  6. Is the sound quality so different? Those who have a sound system for their TV ought to be able to play back their digital music through this, and achieve as good or possibly better quality sound than all but the high end record sound systems.
  7. Unless Ms Fulani did have her phone set to record, then she has a remarkable memory. If she was using her phone to record her conversations, one has to ask why.
  8. I dont think it was recorded, I thought that it was the recounted memory of the charity worker.
  9. I was going to say that maybe they won't pay the asking price, but they would pas it on to us anyway. So can only be due to their inefficiencies.
  10. Never complain, never explain, it's a good maxim to follow.
  11. Unfortunately they are all over the bed area, and P&O require that the bed configuration can only be set up as single beds.
  12. They do the same in most airport departure lounges, and I dont think the airports offer a drinks package.
  13. But is their truth different to Wills and Kate,'s truth, or any other people involved, and which one is more believable?
  14. I think it was done tongue in cheek, but as you say it backfired badly because most people dont have Sky.
  15. Our posties drive a van and work in twos, they only seem to carry a handful of mail between drop off locations, so not really arduous, other than the early starts. However we certainly do not seem to have received the normal number of cards, whether these are still to be delivered, or because people are cutting down I have no idea.
  16. Aurora's theatre seating must be the most uncomfortable at sea, for wheelchair users Carmen's is very poor, and the sun deck has no auto doors. The main pool area is very weird, and again very wheelchair unfriendly, and there are a number of corridor endings with only stairs. The standard cabin cut out balconies are nowhere near as user friendly as even Britannia's tiny juliet ones. But I am glad so many of you love her, and are prepared to pay premium prices to cruise on her, which seems to leave P&O with the need to keep the pricing of the bigger ships so very competitive.
  17. My phone says the same but it looks grey, damp and miserable outside. Trip to the doctors this morning for annual blood tests.
  18. Ventura does not have any standard balconies with sofa beds, they are all, including accessible cabins, Pullman bunks. You need a de-luxe accessible cabin if you need a sofa bed.
  19. Except it had been a car ferry, and it did look a bit like Aurora.😉
  20. In your opinion Jean, others may have differing views.
  21. Clearly I must be a philistine when it comes to wine, because I was reasonably happy with the fizzy plonk and the red was perfectly palatable.
  22. Whilst we had a very pleasant waiter served meal on Britannia in June, on Iona in October it was back to a buffet lunch.
  23. Since Jet2 prides itself on their speedy check in process which helps them keep to timetables, then I would imagine they would want to use all the options they have, including twilight check in, to ensure even charter flights run on time.
