  1. As a frequent cruiser, I am well aware of the terms of the contract. I am also aware that stuff happens. I've been on ships where ports were cancelled due to mechanics and weather. That is to be expected. But, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the consumer having a reasonable expectation that the product purchased is the product that will be delivered in good faith. Did Regent use good faith in the way they originally handled this particular situation. I don't believe so. Again, love Regent, will continue to cruise on Regent.
  2. As an aside, Contracts & Torts was eons ago. Maybe I should blow the dust off the old text book and have another look.
  3. Yes, the FCC is wonderful, but the original offer was only $500 per stateroom. That is not wonderful. And as I said, I'm sure Regent will end up doing the right thing. Good for them.
  4. I wouldn't even begin to think about suing. First of all, I don't have a dog in this fight. Second, I'm not a litigious kind of person. I was just making a point. As I said, I think Regent will end up doing the right thing. It's just a shame they tried to hoodwink their clients and not be up front and honest about the problem from the beginning. I know there is nothing I can write that will change your mind. I will continue to cruise on Regent and enjoy every minute.
  5. Don't get wrong - I love my country, even though they don't always get it right. I love my husband, and boy he doesn't always get it right either. I love Regent, but I just don't think they got it right in this circumstance, for now. Even in terms of a contract, Goodwill should always be taken into consideration. Also, a good attorney good make the case that force majeure (covid, war) is implied when making a decision to cancel three ports and arriving back in LA a day early.
  6. Pcardad, everybody knows that is in the contract. That isn't the issue. Why are the booked clients being held financially responsible when it was Regent who launched a ship without the ability to generate it's own electrical power, thereby having to cancel ports, said clients booked?
  7. Last year, I had to go UP a size. Remember, you will be wearing layers, and water proof/ski pants. Even with a size UP it was a very snug fit across the bottom. They didn't have the jackets and associated items in the room. We went to the theater. They had all the different sizes hanging on racks and you could try them on. The pre-order is just to get an idea how many they need in each size, but they had extras of each.
  8. It depends upon where you are flying in from, and flight availability.
  9. The hotels used change constantly depending upon availability and cost. The last time we cruised on Regent out of Miami we were put in the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne. It was lovely, as to be expected. I've heard other hotels mentioned, some with good reviews, so not so much.
  10. I have read that cork trees are in decline making cork very expensive, thus the artificial corks one sees now. Perhaps a screw top keeps the wine safer than an artificial cork.
  11. All expedition cruise ships in the Galapagos have to be 100% manned and operated by Ecuadoreans. That includes the chefs. We took Silversea Galapagos many years ago and found that what the crew may have lacked in some areas of sophistication, they more than made up for in trying to make it a fun, informative, and educational cruise (and it was.) For example: the first evening at sail-away my husband ordered a scotch, neat. It came with a big fat straw and an umbrella. Instead of getting our panties in a wad, we found it hilarious, and still laugh about it today. We find some of the stuff people complain about to be absurd.
  12. Oh my goodness - I feel very sophisticated when I'm drinking a wine that doesn't have a screw top.
  13. I too do not like buffets, and will do anything to avoid them, on land or sea. Not only do they seem chaotic, but loud, and yes............germy. I would eat in the MDR for breakfast and lunch everyday, when possible, if it were made available. Hey Seabourn - I hope you are listening. We continually put it on our post cruise questionnaire. I am sure those who like to partake of the pool and the sun will continue to enjoy the buffets.
  14. The video is great - don't sell yourself short. We went to Antarctica last December and are going back this January. Can't wait! (BTW - I especially appreciated the little snippet of penguin porn.)
  15. In the grand scheme of life and over time - will you miss it?
  16. They are use to it - and oh, the revenue it brings in. That's one reason Monaco looks as it does.
  17. One other thing - make sure you have some really good earplugs. The F1 cars are extremely loud (we could hear them all the way on the boat when they were practicing. On the final race day. There are two other races prior to the F1 cars. One of them was a Porsche Car Race. That was really interesting - just seeing those expensive sports cars crashing into each other was kind of neat.
  18. I'm sorry, I don't remember the stand letter. I think anywhere across from the marina is fine (unless you can snare a spot with the Prince & Princess.) The only place to get relief from the sun is under the stands - which is where the food and drinks/bathrooms are located. However, you can't see any of the race from under there. Buy a great big beautiful straw hat and wear sunblock. It wasn't unbearably hot on any of the days, but it was sunny.
  19. My husband and I also have done this. Loved every minute, and I wasn't even a race fan - but now I watch all the F1 races. Expensive - yes, but worth every penny. We were also in a grand stand, but right across from the yacht basin. I guess it all depends upon where they can get the seats. We were there 3 days. On the third, we walked the whole course just to see what the drivers were seeing - fun.
  20. Thank you so much. That makes sense.
  21. I don't have our flights yet; it is still too early. That is why I was asking when do I put in for a domestic upgrade, even if it means paying extra. Domestic could be from city to city within the US, or city to city within Australia.
