Thank you for the update.  $6,000 doesn't go very far on a Celebrity ship.   Kauai on the other hand, well what's not to like about that!  Sounds like an awesome idea.  I take it you are honeymooning there?  Congratulations and good luck with your destination wedding!

Spending 3 nights on Oahu and 6 nights on Kauai. So 9 nights in Hawaii versus a 5 night cruise.  Big box travel agent had great price and used Delta miles to get there. Wedding will be the second night in Kauai.

  2. Update if anyone cares.  Celebrity wanted $6k for a 20 minute ceremony with the captain, photographer (prints not included) and music from a CD player.  With that outrageous price and with the terrible service from The Wedding Experience we decided to cancel the cruise and get married on Kauai.  Believe it or not all in it will be less expensive and we will get a longer honeymoon!

  3. Finally heard back from "The Wedding Experience"  I am not impressed to say the least.  Responsiveness is terrible.  Was supposed to receive a quote yesterday and still nothing.  Emailed them and got a response that they will get back to me in 3 business days.  Wedding on the beach in Miami is looking like a good idea.  But January on the beach in Miami could be hit or miss.

I was married on a RCL ship in 2008...we and our guests were boarded early, got married at port (in Miami) by an RCL officiant, had a short reception with a cake, and our non-cruising guests left the boat.  I'm not sure how it works if you actually want to do it at sea.

Miami is definitely an option.  I'm a bit frustrated with the process as Celebrity had a phone # on their site for a third party wedding planner and when I called it they said they only do Princess cruises.

iain was a little concerned about being so close to the stairs but it has worked out perfect and is very quiet.   They moved our Butler, Loyd, down to continue taking care of us.

Our new stateroom attendant is  Pramod.    He is really good and very engaging.  He immediately picked up that we prefer he not tuck the sheets in the end of the bed and make it up more as a duvet.

    This! 100%

This morning I woke up feeling a bit unwell, did a covid test and unfortunately it was positive, Mark is negative at the moment.

I've been down to Medical, it was fairly chaotic down there with a lot of other positive people.

Now back up in the cabin where I have to isolate for 7 days if we want to stay onboard. Mark is free to come and go as he pleases while he is negative. Just had a call from the guest service manager saying that they are disembarking all positive b2b tomorrow but they could try to get an exemption for us as international guests. Mark has gone down to talk to him to see what our options are.

Not really sure what we are going to do at this moment.

I am so sorry to hear this. Get well soon.

Wow, that's got to be a record.  I know people who have waited months.  I have heard some people don't get called for an interview or CBP is even doing video interviews.

Perhaps because it was a renewal? My friend I’m traveling with in January had hers approved right away also and received an updated card within a month. My daughter applied for the first time and is going to do interview upon arrival when we return from Australia.

GE/Sentri renewals are running several months also.  However, you can get lucky once you are conditionally approved and reschedule your interview by checking the CBP www site every morning for cancelations.  I was able to move DW interview from April 2023 to December 2022.  On July 5th I logged in and there were interviews open for that afternoon and all day the 6th.

I renewed my GE in August and it took only 24 hours and no interview necessary.

Thank you everyone for your information and suggestions!!  ☺️  Based on information/suggestions received, I decided and just booked, the Four Seasons Hotel.  Will definitely try the Mode Kitchen.

We are staying at the Four Seasons before our Jan 24 Ovation cruise.  Very affordable with the exchange rates right now.
