Fascinating photo of Detroit and Canada! I never realized that Detroit was that close to Canada. I always thought it was in the Midwest somewhere. But geography was always my worst subject.

Thanks for the wonderful review. I am so glad you both had a nice time. And we all love the pin-up boy photo. 😀

Michigan is in the Midwest  😉

Breakfast at the Windjammer was good. Had a little bit of fruit fruit and thought I would try the  mueslix.

It tasted exactly like what you think it would. To me, that would be sadness in a glass cup. Needless to say, I didn’t eat more than one spoonful.

We were sitting in our room reading.
Me to Micheline:  I’m going to run down to the pub to get a draft beer. Want anything?

Micheline:  Yes. Please get me a Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.

I hop on the elevator down to deck 4 and fight the Esplanade crowd to get to the pub, which is packed for Karaoke. I wiggle my way to the bar.

Me: What kind of beer do you have on tap?

Bartender:  I’m sorry sir but our beer taps are not working someone is fixing them now.

Me:  How long will that take?

    Bartender:  I don’t know sir.

Me: Is there anywhere else on the ship with draft beer?

    Bartender: No sir there isn’t.

Me: Sigh. OK. I’ll have a Stone IPA and a Kim Crawford SB

Bartender disappears for 30 seconds and reappears with a bottle of Robert Mondavi SB: Is this OK?

Me: You don’t have any Kim Crawford?

    Bartender: No sir.

Me: Sigh. OK, then I guess it’s the Robert Mondavi.

Every bar has been a crap shoot as to what it has and doesn’t have. We can find just about everything somewhere, but often in only one place. Flexibility with what we want is key.

Ugh, in no way shape or form is Robert Mondavi SB an acceptable substitution for Kim Crawford SB or any NZ SB!  I'll be on The Ovation in January cruising to NZ and I hope they can find an acceptable substitution by then. 🤪

Me three.  The drop-down list of sailings only contains Solstice sailings out of LA from September thru March.  Guess there is very little demand for those?  Going to fill it out and see what happens!

Let us know what you find out.

I’m sure it’s legit, they base these offers on past gambling etc…they do not demand you gamble a certain amount on offered cruise…if you choose not to gamble, you may not receive any more offers.

I am not a gambler and may have gone to the casino once on a Celebrity cruise.

Probably fuel surcharge.  Our Cruise had a price drop.  When I went to see if it was worth pursuing a change with NCL I noticed an increase in the air price by about $150.  We still saved approx $700 on the total cost for two of us.

The increase in airfare was $520 for my cruise, I am glad we booked when we did.

Are you looking at new bookings on the site and comparing to what you saw when you booked?  Unless NCL is sending you a new invoice you pay the price you booked at unless you cancel and re-book.

Yes that's how I noticed it had done up significantly. I didn't think they could charge us more but one of my friends questioned it.  Thank you for your reply.

  8. I booked BOGO airfare through Norwegian and the price has gone up significantly since I booked. I noticed this wording "Price shown is an average for all guests, and includes roundtrip flights, and air taxes, fees and surcharges. Transfers to and from the port will be added to your booking."  I am assuming we will pay what we were quoted and not the increased price?

    Thanks

I didn't know that Celebrity offers discounts for solo cruisers.

I’m not sure it’s a “discount” but a reduction of the solo supplement. Invoice list the full cruise fare and then subtracts single fare. That’s why I put the word “discount” in quotes. Sarcasm. Bottom line I’m not paying a 100% solo supplement.

  10. Posting here too. I just booked my first solo cruise.  Summit Nov 10-14, 2022.  Booked Aqua Class with a single rate "discount" which amounts to about 40%.  I have had some major life changes this past year and never imagined cruising solo but here I am.

I would double check with your TA or Celebrity as we have booked with all 4 perks & it says PALL on our Express Pass.

Just got off the phone with my TA and I guess I originally booked with just 2 perks and then upgraded to 4 perks when there was a sale.  Don't remember doing that but anyhow he called Celebrity and they updated the Xpress Pass to PALL.  Glad I saw this thread I'd rather take care of something like that now instead of fighting with Guest Services on the ship.  I'm bringing all my paperwork just in case!
