  1. On our Feb Oasis cruise, our CD was named Dave and we see there is a Dave Chapman listed who has left RCCL. If this is the same person, then we're sorry to hear he has left Royal. Dave was fantastic on our Feb Oasis cruise. We'll be curious to see which cruise line he has joined.

Yes...it must have been Dave Chapman !!!....we had him on the Oasis in Sept. and he was a very funny and active CD. (he's got an great accent too lol)

Just got off the Allure a few weeks ago and had Ken Rush....he was funny but no Dave funny. And just seemed like he was following the script and doing the whole paint by numbers type of job.

  2. We just got off the Allure yesterday!!!

We had such a great time!.....I would have to actually say that we had a better time on this ship than we did on The Oasis (not by much but just a little)!

Only major complaint was the constant showing of the Basketball Playoffs in all the major Venues!!!....I understand there are major sports fans out there that can't live a week without it....but they can watch it in their staterooms....or in the very least show it at a non-busy location!!!! I would have loved to have seen a movie at the Aqua Theater other than at 5pm....when the sun was out and hotter than hell.......we decided to take a look one night and saw at 10:30pm that there were only 10 people at the Aqua Theater watching the game!!!!!!!....Really?

Guess that's more important then showing a "movie under the stars"?

Other than that it was amazing!!!

  3. I enjoyed the "How to Train your Dragon" ice show. I also saw the travelling show with the flying dragons on a full sized ice rink locally, and even thought that presentation was bigger with more production, the one on the ship was well worth seeing.

I just wish they had toothless on deck for "meet and greets". My older daughter (22) is a huge How to Train your Dragon fan! She wanted a picture of us with him!

What ship did you see it on?

    How long ago was it?

Did you remember when it was shown?

  4. I just got back from sailing on Oasis, and the ship is AMAZING! But, in my opinion, they nickle and dime you to death on absolutely everything. I don't remember it being that bad on other RCI ships. It will be really interesting when something pops up about the new Oasis class ship-like some photos. I can't wait to see some photos.

How did they nickle and dime you? Just wondering

    Thanks

  5. I do not recall having any numbness or tingling but remember there are different types of tears. You could have a nerve involved somehow with those symptoms. I just had a knee so sore at one point, I was using a cane at the hospital (it really sucked) plus mega swelling if I was on my feet continuously. I am doing much better now and my last surgery was in April of 2012. I sincerely hope you get good news on your MRI. Please update us on here and I wish you all the best. :)[/quote

Thank you Esmerelda! I am doing better and am excited about boarding this weekend. I'll definitely take it easy this time and do everything I need to do to be ready to take on the flow rider next year. Thanks for your encouragement! Hope you're cruising soon!

Hope you are feeling better!!!....relax on the ship!!!

We will be on the same cruise as you!!!

Hope we all have a great time!!!

    2 1/2 more days!!!!

  6. Hello!!!

For those of you who just got off the Allure....Hope you had an awesome time!?!

We will be on it in 4 Days!!!!!.....Can't wait!!!!

So who was the HeadLiner Show?

Also what 3D Movies were shown and what movies were playing at the Aqua Theater at night?

    How was the weather?

    Thanks Again!!

Hope you guys have reviews up soon!!!!...Can't wait!!!

  7. My wife and I are fresh back from another excellent Royal Caribbean Cruise. Over the course of the next few days, I will share with you some experiences, pictures and even some video of our time aboard.

This was our 3rd cruise. Our 1st was on the Oasis for our honeymoon and our 2nd was on the Jewel roughly a year ago.

Leaving New England and Arriving in Fort Lauderdale:

For the first time ever, we flew out of TF Greene in Providence. What a huge change of pace from flying out of Logan in Boston! We had a 10:35am flight which went non-stop to Fort Lauderdale. There wasn’t a line at the ticket counter and the TSA line was all of 8 people deep. Amazing. We’ll be remember that little gem next time. Like many, we flew down the day before our cruise in an effort to make it a more relaxed start to our vacation.

Despite a bumpy flight, we arrived on time and excited to get a move on things. We exited the plane and made way for baggage claim. On our way, we passed the security lines. Yes. Lines. Apparently they don’t have much room to accomdate all of the cruises on disembarkation day so they pen you up in two different places - moving you from one to he other prior to the TSA screening. It was not a pretty site. Lots of sun burnt miserable faces reminding me what I’ll feel like a week from now.

We arrived at baggage claim - it was a disaster. They had two carousels, each rotated at least 4 different arrivals. We stood there for 20 minutes watching the same bags cycle around. When finally another traveler yelled, “Providence, your bags are on #4!!” We followed the crowd of people and sure enough - there were our bags. The carousel did not say it was the Providence flight, all it said was, “Welcome To Fort Lauderdale” -- thanks, such a help.

We jumped in the short line for a cab and headed to the Marriott Renaissance Cruise Port Hotel. The Cab was roughly $18 with tip. I liked this hotel for a few reasons. The first being my credit card allowed me to use my points to cover our nights stay. The second being it’s location, there were some eateries in the area - and the beach was a 20-30 minute walk so we could watch the ships leave on Saturday.

We were assigned a room on the 10th floor. We had a downtown view, not a port view - however the windows near the elevator had a nice view of the port. We quickly dropped our bags and headed out for a late lunch. In my research, I had found a small chain of sub shops called Laspadas near the hotel. We enjoyed a pair of subs and headed back to the hotel to prepare for the walk over to the beach.

The walk is nice, going over the bridge you get a great view of all the ships in port. There are some very nice homes hidden down some of the side streets. We found our way to the public entry for the beach and made our way to the jetti.

It was overcast. There was a small crowd stretched along the rock wall waiting for the ships to sail. One by one they all made their way out of port. The sky was getting gloomier as a storm system moved in, so we made our way back to the hotel. One of the other perks to this hotel, there is a Walgreens right across the street.

The sun set as we made our way to Duffy’s Sports Bar. Roughly a 15 minute walk from the hotel. We weren’t too hungry, but it was nice to get out for a bit. We split an appetizer and had a few drinks. The prices were spot on. We enjoyed the atmosphere, it was not at all what I was expecting. Just as we were about to leave, the storms hit. Rain, thunder, lightning… it was on us. We waited for about 10 minutes and it let up enough for us to make our way back to the hotel. We got wet, but it could have been worse.

After a very long day, we got ready for bed. I passed out easily enough, but I kept waking up in the middle of the night looking at the alarm clock, wishing time would pass faster. I fell back asleep, only to wake up to a nice, clear morning in Fort Lauderdale!

up next... (photos and video, having an issue with flickr at the moment) breakfast, waiting, boarding, eating and of course - cruising!

Great review so far!!! We will be on allure in 11 days and can't wait!!

    Looking forward to ur pics!!

  8. We saw Tony Tillman on our last cruise and agreed that he was the best vocalist we have seen out of all our cruises - he was really very good

I believe he sang the part of Sammy Davis Jr in the original rat pack tribute show in Las Vegas

    Have a great trip

    Thanks for the help!!!

Now that you mention the info about Tony Tillman. I looked at our cruise compass from our cruise on The Oasis on Sept 21, 2013 and Tony was the headliner on our cruise then!

I wonder how long they do the headliner show before they switch?

We thought he was very good but would rather see someone else.

Thanks again...hope our cruise is fun!

  9. Yes, was on the Allure last week. For the most part, everything was great on the ship.

NicNac answered most of your questions.

They also played Gravity in 3D on the ship. Frozen was great to watch on the big screens in the Aqua Theater.

I thought Ken Rush did a nice job as CD.

My favorite meal was Samba Grill (Brazilian Steakhouse).

We really enjoyed Chicago and Blue Planet.

    Complaints: (not many)

This was our first time in a suite where we had access to the Concierge Lounge. I expected better service than what we received.

There also seemed to be more plumbing problems as several times during the week the hallway smelled of "sewage" and they had fans in the hallways to dry out the carpet. The first 2 days we did have to call maintenance as our toilet would not flush.

Reserving seats with towels: all the deck chairs near pools were "reserved" by people putting towels / personal items on them by 7:30am and they did not show up for an hour or more later. When I pointed out some chairs that had been empty for 45 minutes, the pool attendants would not do anything about it. I wish they would enforce the "no reserving" policy better. As suite guests we had access to the private sun deck so had no problem getting a lounge chair but would have preferred one by a pool.

Thank you very much for your help!!

So which decks smelt like sewerage?

    How was food in MDR?

  10. Just wondering if anybody on here just got off the Allure from last week?

Anything to report from the ship?

    Who is the current CD?

What were the 3D movies show and the movies shown outside at the aqua theater?

    Who was the headliner show?

    Everything go as plan?

Hope everyone had a great time!!!

We will be on it in 12 days!!! Can't wait!!

  11. Then I got ready for my free massage (part of our package from the company with which we booked the cruise). Had a very nice 50 minute Swedish massage. The only cost was the gratuity. Now here comes one complaint. I did not pay for the massage as it was included in my package, but the cost was $130. I asked if after the massage I could use the sauna and was told that is an extra charge. I think that is so wrong. I have been to many fine hotels and every time I booked a massage I had free access to the spa area of the hotel and use of the sauna, steam room, men's locker, etc. I think if you just paid $130 for a massage you should be able to use the spa as well. Just my thoughts.

SO here is a price list for Spa services, but remember, NO SPA FOR YOU!!

Love the review of this Great Ship !!!!!

Just wondering if the massage was free why did it cost you $130.??? I will be having a free one on The Allure in a couple weeks and wondering if it's going to cost us that much too?!?!

    Thanks Again!!!

  12. O

Later this month we will be sailing for the first time on RCCL. I am wondering how strict they are with clothing in the MDR? On DCL, we have worn shorts in the Dining Rooms with no issues; however, I am now wondering if we would be turned away on RCCL.

I am sailing with my BIL and his two kids and want to be sure we pack the right attire for the MDR each night.

    Thank you for you guidance!!

Hey we are in the same cruise as you!!! April 20th!!! Can't wait!

We were on Oasis 6 months ago and it wasn't really that strict except for the 2 formal nights! I wore dressy shorts on a non-formal night and it was fine.

I think as long as it's not a bathing suit or flip flops and ripped jeans...it should be fine.

    The count down begins!!!

  13. We did the basic $30 plan just a few weeks ago on Independence and it worked fine on sea days. We thought it was worth it as we wanted to check in on a few things periodically at home but didn't need anything more extensive, such as more calling time or the text minutes. Worked well for us.

    Thanks for the help!!!

We are thinking about getting the basic one too. Don't need too much!

  14. I have read and have saw so many videos on both...but I am going on Allure for my honeymoon in August. What did you like about oasis? And how was the food overall? I keep hearing mixed reviews on the food.

    The Oasis was awesome!!!

The Ship is Huge...You will never be bored!

Nothing was really ever that crowded except for maybe the WindJammer but we only went there 2 times.

The Shows were the best and very entertaining!

MDR food was not as bad as some reviews say.....I mean it wasn't wonderful but it was good on most days!

The specialty rest. were very good!

Central Park is Great too!!!...Nice to walk thru at night!

We enjoyed the feel of the Boardwalk also.

  15. We did the Oasis last Sept. and now going on the Allure in 24 Days!!!!!

We wanted to do both and compare!!! Besides we will know pretty much where everything is and wont be lost!!!...lol

I think it will be fun to see both and it will be a little different to keep our interest!!!
