  1. In all fairness, historically the sandwiches at Waves were much too large. I sometimes get a Cubano and my wife likes the Ruben. Half of either is enough. They have reduced the size of them which I think is a good thing.
  2. Here is the email address mine came from mycruise@explore.oceaniacruises.com
  3. But I do like the hot dog ok, it's just the chili is not very good. My wife could teach them a thing or two about making chili. But that shouldn't be necessary.
  4. I don't think it's fake, just more of Oceania's excellent IT dept.
  5. No more Chili dog, oh well, it wasn't that good anyway.
  6. I got the same on Patty did, with the same 404 error.
  7. Keep in mind that the upper suites have the 20% deposit clause. I think Jim usually books these. But the discount increases the more expensive room you book. For example, the top is 20 to 35 day cruise in an Owner's, Oceania or VIsta will get you $1500 off. Keep in mind not all cruises will be eligible for the discount.
  8. No, it's usually announced at the Repeaters Party, or you can ask the CD or FCC/OCA. They all know, among others.
  9. I"m not sure I completely understand what you're saying. I had no problem booking two cruises that were what is historically called B2B, each 10 days. I booked them as a combo cruise with one booking number and 2 cruise ID's. It's on one invoice. I'm getting two cruise credits for it. 2 sets of Club perks, two bottles of the delicious Cyclo wine and two $250 onboard booking bonus. I booked this in February of this year.
  10. That's because there is not an option for that. I have no idea why not. Priorities of their IT dept maybe. It really is no problem to do once onboard, or I think you can either have your TA do it or call in yourself. When we do upgrade we usually wait a few days into the cruise. Second day is usually Captain's Party, which will give you free drinks in a few bars for about 3 hours. And not just the punch and lousy wine they've pre-poured, you can request almost anything within reason. Then there are First timers parties a few days into the cruise, and for Repeaters there is a repeaters party. For either one there are free drinks for approximately an hour. You also have the liberal non published policy of allowing customers to bring on anything they want, in any port. Only request is to consume in your room, or if wine pay the corkage fee is consumed in a public area. If you wait until 4 or 5 days in to the cruise to upgrade, you only pay for the remaining days.
  11. I did put the required spend once toward OBC, which was refundable, so anything we didn’t use we got back in cash at the end of the cruise.
  12. So are you assuming that they will cut the mailings as it's marketing? I wouldn't bet on that. There are a lot of things under the marketing umbrella. As much as many people don't care for the mailings they are proven to work. I've actually started to notice more TV ads for Oceania than in the past. I'm more concerned about what they might perceive as things we don't value on the vessel. I'd like to see that list.
  13. We eat dinner early so I found on Regatta that after dinner, around 8 was an excellent time to have the run of the laundry on Regatta.
  14. How did you get that? I don't see that at all.
  15. Did you notice any of the positive comments, or just focus on the negative? I'd keep away from the review section here, but I know what to expect from the product, so really don't need to read about it. I can see why someone new would though. Truly, I've read comments from others on the same cruise as I'm on, and I'd swear we were on completely different ships. But, I don't go looking for every little thing I can find wrong, I go on vacation to have a good time. I've never been in the Retreat on Celebrity, I don't see the value, but I've been on plenty of cruises with them in other rooms. I like Celebrity, but it's a completely different product. I would recommend giving Oceania a try and seeing how it suits you. Hundreds of people a week going on them can't be all wrong.
  16. You're not allowed to take it off the ship in most ports, so that one is out. Found that a little interesting concept also for a cruise ship. I guess you just take it wherever you want.

I just looked at it. We can't put a link to FB, but it's there.

Actually Riviera does have the evening pizza at Waves Grill.
  19. It's where the bus has air shocks that allow it to lower the front closer to the ground while you are getting on and off. I'm sure you've seen them. Unless I'm mistaken.
  20. Actually, with very minimal changes the menus haven't changed much in 20 years. That's by design. I can't imagine even on an R ship, that I would run out of choices I like if I ate there 2 or 3 times in a 20 day cruise. I was on the cruise after yours and ate in Polo twice, enjoyed both times. But we all like different things. It sounds like for various reasons Oceania wasn't a fit for you. I've noticed when this or that goes wrong, or doesn't suit me, it can color my whole experience.

The bathrooms are new in the PH levels, at least some of them. I saw a video on FB earlier today. looks nice.
  22. For the GDR my observations say that it depends on which meal it is. Many times at lunch (when they have it, usually sea day) I've noticed they will sit most of the diners in the same basic area. Since there are so few compared to other meals it keeps the wait staff from running all over the room.
  23. Not that I'll be using them but I've seen a good offer for HAL and Cunard on my card the last couple of days.
