  1. And in most circumstances Carnival pays duty free prices on alcohol. Bottom line, their markup on alcohol is huge, and even at 15 drinks a day they're probably close to breaking even selling Cheers. Other than soda and juice (most of which is juice cocktail on Carnival anyway), they simply can't markup non-alcoholic drinks as much as alcohol, which puts everything-but-alcohol drink packages priced higher than most people would pay if Carnival is to make money on them.
  2. Years ago they had Goldfish crackers at the bars. They went away when noro outbreaks became a big thing and never came back. Free sushi, which was (sometimes) a nice pre-dinner snack, went away years ago. Taste, which had hors d'oeuvre size portions of food from specialty restaurants fleetwide went away years ago. See a pattern? With Carnival cutting every penny of food cost possible, down to non-edible garnishes, and sending the bacon on vacation, I don't see any kind of free pre-dinner snack in the future. If people are hungry enough, Guy's and the deli are open prior to and through the beginning of YTD.
  3. You can request distilled water for a CPAP ahead of time in the Dietary Request section of online check-in (only on Princess' website though, not on the app as far as I can tell).
  4. No difference between the documentation required to sail and to get off the ship in ports. It would however be a good idea to bring a copy of the legal paperwork giving your GF sole custody, especially if her ex is the vindictive type who might claim she is taking (or even abducting) the daughter to Mexico without his consent.
  5. 8 appetizers and 13 mains, with 2 of them rotating, makes OP's complaint look a bit petty.
  6. Royal's app usually works pretty well, but when i was boarding Harmony in Galveston last month the app just kept spinning when I tried to pull up my boarding pass to check in (and it wasn't my phone--I had a 4G or 5G signal and most or all bars). Luckily I had a printed a boarding pass a backup. Same reason I try to get a printed boarding pass for flights even if I plan to use the boarding pass on my phone. Plus if I need something from a gate agent, it's simplest just to hand them a boarding pass.
  7. I didn't say I wanted the package. Just responding to the people who want a package that includes all non-alcoholic drinks.
  8. You'll have to call Carnival and see if they can move you to a cabin with two uppers.
  9. People have requested this before. John Heald says the beards have looked at the numbers and the economics just don't work to price such a package at a price where people would actually buy it. Other cruiselines have such a package though. If you read between the lines, you can see that Carnival's markup on alcoholic drinks is enormous.
  10. We need more info... Are you one person booked in an upper/lower interior, looking to add another? If so, yes* Are you two people booked an upper/lower interior, looking to add another? If so, no. Are you two people booked in a regular interior with one upper, looking to add another? If so, yes* Are you three people booked in a regular interior with one upper, looking to add another? If so, no * Caveat: Adding more people to a cabin than you initially booked is always subject to the sailing and muster station not being at or close to capacity. Obviously if either is at capacity, you can't add more people. Even if either is just close to capacity, if there are still empty cabins the cruise lines will prevent existing reservations from adding more passengers so they can use the remaining capacity to sell the remaining cabins.
  11. It does cut off (or at least it did for me once) after buying a drink or two (and it was only like 1:30; I was planning to go to the muster station after that drink and in plenty of time before the deadline). I guess if they blocked the S&S from even opening cabin doors (if that's possible), that would be the only almost foolproof way to get people to check in at their muster stations.
  12. Never going to happen because we all know how many people will get one package per cabin and then share drinks,
  13. Now you've moved the backup that used to happen at check-in in the terminal to the ship. And it becomes harder to prevent people from going to their cabins before the time they're officially ready.
  14. Are you confirmed for YTD, or just assuming you'll get that if your waitlist doesn't clear? Asking because YTD is usually the second most popular and late seating is the least popular. If you're close to sail date and/or it's a holiday or summer sailing with lots of kids (and third and fourth beds occupied), late seating may the only thing actually available.
  15. I do that, but only once I've found a wait team with good service. Sometimes that happens on the first night, other times it takes a few nights to find one I like. On the Glory in December I bounced around all week because I never found a team with better than average service that was worth the effort of requesting again. Ironically, the best service I had was at brunch on the second sea day, so I asked for that team again on the third sea day.
  16. None of them do for free. The wooden box with the specialty teas is gone from the Lido deck. They'll cone around with the box for you to choose from in the MDR, but you have to pay for those just like at the coffee shop. On the Lido and in the MDR, including at afternoon tea, only green tea and Lipton black tea are free.
  17. No, outside of cruise lines most tipped employees keep their own tips, but in a some cases they are required to "tip out" a percentage of their sales to employees who would not normally be tipped by guests, such as hostesses, bussers, and runners in a restaurant.
  18. Not recently when there are only 2 or 3 servers at times in the evenings. I tip cash with every DOU drink and some nights on the Glory last month there was not a server to be found at some times.
  19. Not sure what part of "it's not an exact match if the comparable excursion doesn't pick you at the port" is so difficult to understand.
  20. If you have a legitimate reason for cashing out immediately and/or have enough points to show you weren't charging your S&S for a fee-free cash advance, a casino host or manager (or probably even supervisor) can unblock your account.
  21. It's actually the reverse... you charge your S&S to get credit on the machine, then when you're done playing you transfer the credit to your player bank. You can do it as many times as you wish, as long as you actually gamble with what you charged to your S&S and put on the machine. Cash out too often or for too much without playing with what you just charged and you'll get systematically blocked from charging your S&S in the casino.
  22. Transportation from a hotel is not a "exact match" (Carnival's requirement to invoke the guarantee) to transportation from the port. Your options are to pay Carnival $120 for the convenience of port pick-up or go to a hotel for pick-up to save $120. Part of Carnival's contract with the companies that operate their excursions is that they cannot sell the same excursions to Carnival passengers. This pre-dates the best price guarantee. The company running the Viator excursions either 1) runs the same excursion for one or more cruiselines or 2) doesn't want to bother with the uncertainty of late ship arrivals, getting cruise passengers back to the port in time to not miss the ship, or ships missing port altogether.
  23. Then it's not comparable because your 'comparable' tour doesn't include transportation from the port. Full stop.
