Surcharges for drinks in Retreat Lounge
jmdlv1 replied to TrueCruiseaholic's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Thank you for posting the email address. I sent an email yesterday to LBH thanking her for turning me on to luxury cruise lines which now offer a better value. Did not receive a response LOL -
If it was just $2.00 that would be tacky. We like red wine and some are more and not good ones. Looks like we are going to cancel our Jan.'25 cruise and move to Regent. With everything included ,it will be about the same cost with less irritation due to the cash grab at Celebrity

Surcharges for drinks in Retreat Lounge

Thank you for posting this. I am unfamiliar with Silversea and was reading some posts about the dress code. Somewhat controversial as different restaurants have different requirements daily. I do like the Celebrity new approach with 2 nights "Evening Chic" where I where a sportcoat and open collar shirt. I don't mean to go off topic but it made me pause about booking there. -

On the Ascent in November ,they went back to plastic. They said people were cutting their hands on the metal -

I'm locked in W/Celebrity on my 3/16 sailing in a RS. My 1/3 2025 sailing is probably going to change .Right now Regent looks good but I wish I knew more about them.. I talked to TA and she said "You will not have your status" currently Elite plus on Celebrity. Big deal!! So I lose a couple free bags of laundry. I have had wonderful cruises on Celebrity .Love the ships and staff, but the new management team has soured me on the company. -

Currently looking at Regent ,Silver Seas ,Oceania and Seabourn. I know very little about these except Seabourn . It just seems like Celebrity is chasing away loyal customers. -
Surcharges for drinks in Retreat Lounge

Thanks for these updates. I completely understand an upcharge on a glass of Caymus. However ,I read that they raised the price on Cherry Pie Pinot Noir to $19/glass which is a $2.00 plus tip up charge. With the recent changes ,I am currently looking to switch cruise lines for two upcoming cruises. Removing Butlers in SS ,then removing gratuities ,and now a cash grab on drinks and wine. I can sail a full luxury line for what Celebrity is charging for the Retreat with better service and no nickel and diming. Very disappointed. -
I understand and completely agree. Just got off the Ascent and I did play in the casino but did not feel like I had to log hours at the craps or BJ tables. The discounts were nice but I can go to Vegas for free rooms and pay for my cruises from now on.

About a year ago my discount on suites went from about 40% to about $40. I was booking through an independent rep who worked through BCC. When I called him ,he said "Don't shoot the messenger." He said Celebrity does not want to discount suites like they used to. So I booked my last 3 trips through a regular travel agent. No pressure to play.

Crew to Passenger Ratio / Cutbacks Impacting Service?
jmdlv1 replied to Cap_D's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Just got off the 4 night sailing on the Ascent . We were in a CS on deck 11. Overall ,the service was very good and we really enjoyed the short cruise. The butler and room attendant were spot on. We ate in Luminae every night and the service was als very good. I did notice a couple things but they were not terrible. 1.There seemed to be fewer servers on the Retreat sundeck. 2.The service at the bars was slow although it is a brand new ship . 3.Friends ate at Fine Cut steakhouse and had a two hour wait for their food. That is terrible. Again overall ,we loved the ship and will be back. -
Haha,that's what my wife said
-
In the past ,I was contacted weeks before my sailing.. We sail on the Ascent next week and still no contact. They can offer help with reservations . I thought they might have been part of budget cuts like burlers for SS.
-
Thanks ,I thought there would be. I always bring a sportcoat on 7 night cruises but may pass for a 4 nighter
-
Does anyone know if there is a "chic" night on a 4 night cruise? On the Ascent next week over Thanksgiving and could not find anything..

Beyond creaking and knocking and slamming oh my!
jmdlv1 replied to RobertoF's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Most of my cabins have been forward and that may have helped. However we were in a SS on the Edge mid ship in Sept and no noise there either. -
Beyond creaking and knocking and slamming oh my!
jmdlv1 replied to RobertoF's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We were o the original repo cruise from Bayonne with stops in Bermuda and Aruba. Heard many complaints about noise but we heard nothing. We were in a CS I think 11109. Heard nothing on the Edge in Sept or Apex but will be on Ascent next week so I will be listening. . -
The bar on the Apex and Beyond are nothing more than service bars. I'm guessing that is the plan for the Edge. It was very disappointing to me as I always enjoyed having a couple drinks at the bar in Michaels Club on the S Class ships. There is plenty of room in the Retreat Lounge to place a bar with 8-10 seats.

Celebrity 2 Wine Bottles... In cabin or dinner only?
jmdlv1 replied to adsjayhawk's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Brought wine on my last 4 cruises. Last October it was 2 bottles pp.They dropped it down to 1 pp since then. Took the bottles to dinner and have never been charged a corkage fee. We did have a drink package on every cruise. -
Has anyone heard or dealt with this company? Have been trying to find a company for transport to Rome and some touring with an afternoon return to Port. Would love yo hear some feedback before booking or other ideas
-
Thank you for all the suggestions. Working on options right now
-
We are a group six looking to book a tour from the port to Rome and return to ship. A couple of us have been there and we have some ideas where we want to go. Nobody want to take the train and we would like to have the same person pick us up and drive us to the attractions in Rome and back. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If I'm in a Retreat suite, can I have AquaClass friends over?
jmdlv1 replied to marne-c's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Marchbut that was our experience. 2020 ,we sailed on the Edge with my son and his wife. We were in a CS and they were in an IV. I called Celebrity before sailing and they said we could pay for them to access the Retreat amenities. We did and they were able to join us at Luminae and the sundeck.. This was the final sailing before the shutdown and we were concerned about getting home. Things have probably changed since then -
We had 2 bottles in our carryon bags each. We were in the Retreat and check in was super fast .Dumped our carryon bags in our room and went out to explore the ship.
