  1. Last 3 cruises no auction was told on our behind the scenes tour Due to the computerisation of everything charts are now old fashioned and not many shipping organisations use them so they have become very expensive to buy as well climbed of QV last week and the chart wasn’t even in the cabinet by the table tennis table - in its usual place were some Photos of the ships pods and some laminated explanations of the pods sad really as used to like looking at the chart
  2. My partner and I said “hello” to an officer from Medical Team one welcome on board party. We chit chatted about this and that and he confided to us he didn’t like the parties as he didn’t feel socially talented to make small talk. Cue the WC party that followed a few nights later he made a beeline for us when we arrived and said he would talk to us again as we made him feel very relaxed and found us easy to chat to. He added they are under “surveillance” to mix and mingle. He also said his worse nightmare were passengers that thought once they instigated a conversation with him that he was theirs for the duration of the party !
  3. Know what you mean about warm food-when i was quarantined I found some nights I ate the meal in reverse if i didn't fancy a cold dessert that was supposed to be warm. Found it shook my day up eating dessert followed by started followed by mains. My favorite day of quarantine was baked alaska day when i ordered 2 and ate them first.
  4. Hi HostHattie Keep yer chin up - you’ve done the right thing morally by testing and dealing with the consequences of the negative result. doesn’t seem fair but that’s life I suppose. when I was positive and cabin bound in Alaska i mentally thought of the coughers and choking people round the ship and how they carried on regardless etc
  5. We tend to order a side of steamed vegetables every evening and Ice cream with desert I always get a 2nd baked alaska 😁
  6. Sorry to hear Mr HH has caught it. Fingers crossed you wont (if you recall I caught it in Alaska on QE but my partner didn't get it and he quarantined with me on the ship for 3 days then 7 days at a hotel). Funny old disease it is how some do and some dont catch it. That aside tour trip sounds lovely and has mad us desperate for our Iberian trip in November Hope Mr HH makes a speedy recovery and you enjoy the rest of the trip - Id order some cocktails with your dinner!
  7. Think the cocktail sounds more appealing than the warm wine! sounds a lovely trip enjoy
  8. No to the dogs Yes to the park rangers and stamp
  9. Id say IMHO it will basically be the same as the other two Cunard cruises you've been on apart from the scenery out the window!
  10. Green apples and ginger can assist I take Prochlorperazine and that works for me
  11. IMHO a corporate business will do what it wants and “massage” feedback figures given to justify their plan. We diligently fill these in all the time as we don't want things like the dress code to change etc
  12. Ha ha yes we did - maths was never my strong point to begin with so Yep guess thats why I couldn't fathom it.as well as flights we also upgraded to guess that also impacted it
  13. Funny when I got mine I tried working it out and couldn’t so just gave up!
  14. I also find its buyer beware - I stopped such purchases early into the cruise as twice I bought something then later in the cruise is was a “x% off brand xyz” and i was Grrr should have waited. Last cruise I wanted a pair of Cunard cufflinks. I waited and waited then day 9 of the 10 day cruise it was “25% off all Cunard merchandise” so I bought them that day
  15. Yes we were similar to you. Last cruise 2019 then didn't until June 2022. I then caught covid in Alaska (my partner did not) Had a cruise booked for August so we cancelled it whilst in isolation (took advantage of pursers desk saying “anything else we can do for you?” And I said “yes a cancellation for August with a Full refund no FCC” and credit to Cunard they did. We are intending to take our November cruise though. I think it is so random this wretched disease who it infects and the intensity of the infection. Day 1 was very apprehensive and a bit scared but then by Day 6 into our Alaska cruise I felt safe and was beginning to say “its not bad at all” but then day 7 got the positive result and was back to day 1.
  16. No expert but IMHO removes any stress if thing go wrong. We picked up covid in Alaska in June 2022 and Cunard re-arranged all our flights we didn't have to lift a finger. Spoke to others in the same boat and they had booked their own flights on non changeable tickets in business class. Cunard said they would pay for new flights for this couple but only in economy. Implication was if that wasn't suitable then go to you travel insurer. Fine but who needs the stress? One downside IMHO is Cunard wont ticket it until closer to the cruise so you cant make seat reservations.
  17. My mantra is never look at the price of a flight or a cruise once you’ve booked - if one was happy to book at that price you can then drive yourself into a tizzy if it drops by a lot.
  18. I got mine sorted (tested positive 21/6) by ringing the main call centre and choosing option x on the phone for “queries relating to voyage already booked” lovely lady couldnt actually process it as its a backroom team but she sent them an email asking for conclusion and it seemed to work. Didn't get a confirmation just did a dummy booking and it popped up.
  19. Thanks - the box said Minic but when I looked it up after it said it was part of Hornby Its all die cast so I was well chuffed with it
  20. Been meaning to post for ages a picture of my Barnardo’s charity shop find. Metal model QM and some accompanying dockside bits and bobs. One or two pieces missing but still in original box
  21. Hi. I just called the main Cunard call centre number in the Uk and selected the option to discuss a cruise already booked. If you go to do a dummy booking and log in when prompted and the. select any old cabin when you then click on price summary it shows there. we were told we would get an email when the FCC had been done but we haven’t to date.
  22. And you forgot the fact there wasn’t a priority line at the pursers desk for you
  23. we still after more than 60 days have not received the FCC promised by Cunard and have just gotten a string of we will check on that emails to inquiries. I get that there were many people affected by Covid on the ships, We tested positive 21 June on QE. This week we finally got our FCC I ran into “you've have called the wrong team” which I replied “Your offshore support team gave me this number” to “well there are many people waiting for their FCC” Typical Cunard though then got through to a well trained, helpful, delightfully polite lady in the main call centre who assisted. She apologised for me catching it, the delay in the FCC and the wrong phone numbers. She assured me whilst I was on hold she would message the team directly and rectify asap. 3 days later it was given. No email confirmation etc just did a dummy booking and it popped up.
  24. My tuppence is after getting of a cruise peoples reactions are alway ying and yang. Our very first transatlantic cruise we thought was amazing from beginning to end BUT 2 people had posted reviews and we read them and throught “wow, were we really on the same cruise?” I think sometimes minor niggles (& I dont mean what Peckishpixie has cited in her post- Im talking in general) can add up and then it becomes to that person the whole thing was a “nightmare” and one can apply that to a cruise, a flight a trip to the theatre etc. We have done 15 cruises now with Cunard and have had some minor niggles and we have had some irritations. Sometimes Im guilty of setting the bar too high-you have a great waiter or room steward one cruise then not so great the next time and its easy to say “meh service has gone down hill”.
  25. We got $60pp for V231 11/2022
