  1. We did a tour in January. It ended up being only 3 of us in a van. The third was staying in a nearby hotel. The van had seen better days but the guide was excellent.
  2. If you take the longer north loop you will spend some time on a highway once leaving Rincon. Just stay to the right and it will be fine. All of the cars were courteous and most even gave the local friendly beep when going by.
  3. Speaking of railways...When looking at the Bergen Line schedule on Vy there are blue trains and red trains. What is the difference between the two and is one preferable? Thanks
  4. Could you explain this nightlight on the floor for a newbe. Where is it and how does it turn on or off?
  5. It will likely be time enough to see a couple of planes, but not necessarily large ones. If you're familiar with aircraft types, this will give you an idea. https://flightaware.com/live/airport/TNCM
  6. Both Lyft and Uber work universally. You'll need a connection to know when your driver arrives and to identify them. After that, the only things that I recall being online for were to follow the map and to keep track of the ETA. Beyond that the only post pickup activities on the app are to rate and tip the driver (yes, tipping is a thing here). Neither of those is mandatory and I suppose cash would always work for the tip if anyone carries cash anymore.
  7. There was a priority line in January when we were there.
  8. Did a private tour with them last March for a group of 7. I would concur with the reviews.
  9. I never had any problem parking. There was always a place big enough for the cart.
  10. I've had that happen too, but I'm not so sure that the tips aren't pooled somehow. Otherwise there'd have to be some kind of agreement on who grabs when...
  11. If I recall correctly they have 2. I have no idea how to go about getting one since normal reservations are for the two seaters.
  12. Let's be a little careful here. They may in fact have the best wifi. It was reliable and fast. That doesn't mean they have the best internet. They seem to mention both interchangeably when in fact they are two separate things. Wifi connects your device to the system. Order drinks, look at menus, locate shipmates, etc. That always seems to work just fine. It's their internet that sucks. They may in fact have the best wifi and the worst internet.
  13. They didn't take a credit card number at all when I reserved. They sent me an email that had information in it and asked me to reply if I wanted to do so. I replied that I did and they responded confirming that they had my reservation. They only took my card when I checked out the cart. I do note that they take reservations directly on their website now. That's new since I reserved. I would suggest just emailing them and see if they would take a reservation that way.
  14. I contacted them once and got an overnight response. I asked a couple of follow up questions and never heard back to those. This was the initial response: "We will have special departures for people arriving by Cruise."
  15. Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay, Glacier Bay. Too me that trumps the choice of lines for Alaska. That puts Princess as one of the few major lines to the top of the list. If doing a cruise tour, I believe their land accommodations are superior to the others.
  16. I know how a fish swimming upstream must feel. For me, the medallion and the app would be a major plus when considering another Princess cruise. I loved being able to open the door with my elbow when my hands were full, no need to put stuff down to use a card. I loved the locate function on the app to find and meet up with my cabin mate. Whether I ordered drinks and food through the menu or not, I liked being able to look at them (the menus) on the app before getting to the bar or restaurant. Maybe the schedule is a bit clunky but it worked well for what I wanted it to do. Oh, and I especially liked being able to hook the medallion to my watch band so I didn't have to try and remember it each time I left the cabin.
  17. I think I'll stick to beer. It's so much simpler.
  18. Only for one night on our recent 10 day.
  19. For those of us who don't plan their whole day in advance, I appreciated the app. If it was 9:03 at night I could just open the app and find out what was happening right then. No need to go back to the cabin to find a piece of paper.
  20. One thing I thought worked amazingly well was the choice of what to receive on paper in the app. I filled that out and got nothing other than the patter. So long useless sale flyers.
  21. I decided to book the Bergen to Greenwich version of the cruise. It shows us arriving at Greenwich at noon. That being the case I'm hoping that the river transit will be during normal waking hours. I'm addicted to watching passing scenery. Thanks for the helpful info!
  22. Thanks but now I'm totally confused. I'm trying to decide in which direction to take this cruise. On the website it has shore excursions in London the day after Dover and disembarkation the following morning. What time is the arrival in Greenwich?
  23. On the Bergen to Greenwich cruise, is the trip up the Thames done at night or during the day?
  24. I would normally go up to the glassed in lounge at the top of the ship at night and connect to a network on shore. I selected the network manually on my phone to avoid the ship cell service. Not always the greatest but it worked most of the time.
