Having seen this thread I contacted my travel consultant about my upcoming cruise on the Breakaway which sails in 28 days. Couldn’t get any cruise credit but I was upgraded from a studio cabin to a balcony. Happy days!

That’s not quite true @BirdTravels . If you’re not in the Haven and don’t want loud music and have to rush to find a lounger, the Vibe is excellent. I got it on the Getaway on a sailing to the Caribbean in February. It made my cruise. As a solo traveller I met some lovely people there every day to chat with and it was lovely having the bartenders know my name and my drink order by the second or third day. I’ve two more cruises booked and have booked the Vibe for each one. Each to their own. It’s listed under Entertainment to prebook it. Well worth it IMHO.

I’ve been looking at Caribbean cruises for next year out of San Juan. How was the trip from Dublin? That’s where I’d be flying from too. Would you do it again? thanks! Laura

I haven’t heard good reports about MSC in the past and probably will continue to avoid them in the future. Thanks for your update.

Very interested to follow along. I hope to get to Bermuda someday. Very interested in hearing about the MSC cruise. Have you any idea why the passengers were so rude? Enjoy your trip and especially the time with your grandson. What special memories you’re creating.

I plan on doing this too. Are you doing the trip that includes food? I haven’t booked yet as I was trying to decide which one to book. I’m in two minds whether I want the food option. Packing this evening as I leave for NY tomorrow 😄

This looks like great planning. I’m doing my first solo cruise on 6 February but for me going for dinner so early is not what I like to do. I’m hoping there will be other solos who like to eat later. Fingers crossed!

Hi all, I’m sailing on the Getaway on February 6. I have shore excursions booked but I’m wondering if I decide that I would prefer to stay on the ship instead, how much notice do I have to give to get a refund? And will I be refunded back onto my credit card or will the refund go to my onboard account? thanks! Laura

Because I’m in Europe and have a €180 surcharge on any change I make so I’ll probably only be able to do it once.

Hi all, im sailing on the Getaway on 6 February. They’re a €400 price drop since I booked. In your experience from precious cruises can I expect a further drop or do prices sometimes rise as we get closer to sailing? Thanks in advance, Laura

Hi all, I’m sailing on the Getaway in February. I have recently become somewhat disabled. In such that if I’m travelling on a plane I need a wheelchair to get through the airport. I think I will need the same assistance to get on board the ship. I’ve seen there is a very long walkway to get onboard. But once I’m on board I should be fine. Is this possible to organise in advance? I’ve done a search but haven’t been able to see any previous questions on this topic. many thanks, Laura

Very frustrating!

I’m due to sail on the Getaway on 6 February. There’s a price drop of €105 since I booked my cruise. I spoke with NCL and they told me there is a service fee to change the booking of €180! From what I’ve seen on the lists here, I thought if it was before final payment, you could amend the price without penalty. Have I understood this incorrectly? I’m in Ireland and have booked directly online. thanks! Laura
