  1. I take no issue. It is what it is. Very different from regular ocean cruising. Not for everyone. But folks who expect a luxury experience in qg should be forewarned. That is not what it is. imo suites are small by comparison to luxury suites. Big enough but we prefer large suites and 600-900 passengers, a variety of specialty restaurants and the culture of yes. we also lay take private tours so included large group tours are non issue for us This is not the culture of yes here is small and perhaps insignificant example. we were in a venue having coffee and blueberry muffin for late breakfast. I asked for butter. Was told they don’t have any. On a luxury ship the answer is always “let me get some for you” same thing in pub regarding a drink we wanted It’s not luxury cruising and folks need to have correct expectations. not a criticism a description
  2. I posted some tips on the crystal boards this not luxury cruising. regent is luxury also silversea and seabourn this is unique and wonderful in its own way nothing like regular ocean cruising Explore every nook and cranny marvel at the art deco design go to lectures and shows have lunch in the pub if u are in queens grill order off the menu the planetarium is so so. Once is enough the library is extraordinary find the wonderful music and enjoy it lower expectations about food
  3. My 2 cents we have been on qm2 since 9/11 and remain on until 9/29 this is our second Cunard cruise. The first was a crossing on qe we are luxury cruisers. Our go to lines are regent silversea and seabourn. That is our frame of reference we are in grills suite. we knew going in that this is not luxury cruising as we know it. Why are we on board? ocean liner experience — very special the ship is a magnificent art deco masterpiece sea days. We love them duplicate bridge. I am an addict entertainment. First leg had national symphony with Anthony inglis and Royal Shakespeare company. Doesn’t get better than that not for the food. It is mediocre in qg we look at next night’s menu and place special orders with maitre’d. That works. I find the menus limited and unappealing Everyone should experience this ship once. There is nothing else like it
  4. adding my 2 cents situation was handled really well particularly tough on cabin stewards who couldn’t prepare cabins for new guests as those on board were permitted to stay in their cabins could have been chaotic it was not
  5. Before my first Cunard cruise the impression I got from these boards was that to sail Cunard dressing up is required. Wrong. In fact we are in the minority. In fact we could even book grills and dress casually in smart attire and do room service or buffet on gala nights. I wouldn’t go that route but I have friends that would. They just don’t want anything to do with formal
  6. Folks in grills are always well dressed jackets and even ties when not required stark contrast
  7. It’s after 6 pm there are two people in kings court buffet in bathrobes we saw them on way to grills lounge
  8. just saw this I’m on qm2 now i have no information with me he did not say why. I did not question it either
  9. I hired a private guide in Saudi Arabia for my March cruise on whisper. The guide told me to make sure I get the multiple day visa. I did ask why
  10. There is a lot of helpful info on the disabled travel board
  11. The on board wheelchairs are for on board incidents my husband has mobility issues our mantra: don’t rely on others if you have particular needs. Bring what you need
  12. We noticed more adherence to dress code on queen Elizabeth a few years ago
  13. On qm2. boarded sept 11 round trip ny in queens grill suite dress code? I don’t think so having a drink in grills lounge jeans abound in theatre on gala evening a ghastly array of underdressed souls we are of course dressed to the nines and loving the cruise very shocked
  14. Wonderful posts food looks amazing we will be on muse in Alaska next June
  15. The entire regent experience (other than their shorex) is fabulous. GreT food. Great speakers and entertainment. Flawless service. Ships are not stark at all. I would describe them as majestic
  16. really shocking number almost every cruise I book is sold out Im on qm2 now round trip. Sold out both directions crystal made a serious tactical error in imo in the ridiculous offer it made to those who lost money. Get it back if I book 5 cruises???? Laughable. two cruises might have attracted a whole bunch of us. 5? Not a chance they also forgot that while crystal was defunct we learned to love other cruise lines. we were given little incentive to return to crystal
  17. I wasn’t referring to celebrity since they are not really crystal’s competition. New builds I refer to are regent, silversea and explora. The ships are amazing and well designed
  18. Not surprised. They alienated a lot of former loya crystal cruisers with their ridiculous unexceptional initiative. No one I know wants to return
  19. So glad it turned out well for you!!! better than umi uma? You will be banned from crystal boards for life
  20. Anything is possible. In my cruising life I have booked way over 100 private tours and I have never had a bad one.
  21. That sounds disappointing. We love live music and good lecturers and entertainment. Is that totally absent?
