  1. That's not true. You can get the specialty dining packages, water and soda packages on the ship for the same price. I believe the internet package is actually chepaer on board if you purchase it the 2nd day. Like mentioned above, there is no dynamic pricing on the drink package on NCL. If you get the Free at Sea drink package, you pay for the gratuities only, which are about $21 per day/per person. On my RCCL cruise, the drink package was $89 per day with an 18% grauitiy. It was available on the ship, but at the same price...no discount.
  2. Press Your Luck is showing under the Entertainment section for my Viva cruise. Will find out for sure if able to reserve at 21 days out.
  3. The only cruise line I have seen that was Carnival. I couldn't believe my eyes. Is it that hard to throw on a pair of leggings and a t-shirt??
  4. Maybe it depends on the ship but I have sailed both Carnival and RCL and neither had a dedicated dining room for My Time Dining. On RCL it didn't start until 6:45, which is not my time at all and we were seating in between diners that had left the 5:30 seating and those not arriving yet for the 8:30 seating. On Carnival it was somewhat different but the table were so close together, I might as well have been seated with those next to me. @DrSea the Prima may be smaller capacity wise than the Getaway, but it has more specialty restaurants than the Getaway.
  5. You won't have to eat in the buffet ever, even if you don't use specialty dining. There are 3 MDRs on the Bliss, plus the Local...none of which require reservations (I know some people book reservations for the MDR but I never have). I do usually book 1 or 2 specialty restaurants in advance but will sometimes cancel day of in the morning if not feeling it. I am a mega-planner but on a cruise I just want to go with the flow and relax. Similar to @dbrown84 I will check on availability at a specialty restaurant and wait a bit if I have to...can only recall once when I didn't get in at all.
  6. I have been in the Thermal Spa on the Getaway, Pearl, Escape, Bliss, Encore and Prima. The one on the Escape was by far the loudest. My favorite was the Bliss. Really want to try the Epic if I can ever find an itinerary that works with my schedule.
  7. You can move from a Studio to a Balcony (have done it several times) but you will have to pay a price difference increase...one time the difference I paid was $7. I would pick out a cabin online, do a mock booking to see what the price difference is and then request that cabin on Monday. The only caveat is that you may lose certain promos you had with the original booking (such as double or triple Latitudes points). Never done the FCC thing so don't know how that works, Enjoy your cruise!
  8. MDR menus are rotated on every ship now (Prima went to rotating back in June or July) Would probably be best to check with the vendor or their description box to see what type of excursion you booked. Or check the Port of Call forum and see if anyone else has done it. You will typically have to be off the ship by 9am so I would make my transportation pick up for around 9:30. Make sure they pick you up across the street from the pier on the other side of 12th Avenue, maybe a few blocks down. That area is very congested with cabs and Ubers.
  9. Yes, the Prima is now rotating menus like the rest of the fleet.
  10. I have typed a response 3 times and did not post because I thought I sounded unsympathetic which I am not. Been in your situation so have a bit of experience. Use the internet to book a cab online that will be waiting for you. Alternately, use your cell phone once you are in port and do it that way. I have gotten cabs in Reykjavik before...might have to wait 30 minutes but they will come. Sorry you got sick on vacation but you should be well past contageous by the time you disembark, especially if you took Paxlovid (I didn't). As someone else mentioned above, 5 days is the maximum I can miss work now if I test positive (and I work with the public).
  11. This would be my suggestion. Buy the soda package. Load up your Starbucks app, use it onboard to buy your drinks and get the 'Stars' so when you get home, you will have a couple of free drinks waiting. And if you use up the funds on the app, you can download more while in port.
  12. Not sure if there is an NCL excursion but there are plenty of private transfers that will take you to Stonehenge and then LHR. I would check the Ports of Call forum for recommendations.
  13. All of those things are fine in the MDR on the Prima. I did a TA last fall and wore mainly leggings everywhere except the specialty restaurants, where I wore dress pants. But no one cares and it's still Freestyle. Enjoy your cruise!
  14. Exactly. A co-worker of mine had his United flight canceled the Friday evening of Memorial Day weekend AFTER they were already sitting on the plane! They spent 3 hours at the airport trying to reschedule but ended up going home. Unfortunately, their luggage had already been placed on a different flight and went to Boston. Took them 5 weeks to get their bags back. It would have been quicker to fly to Boston the following weekend, pick them up at the terminal and fly home.
  15. Just to clarify the NFL situation, all of the games are shown on the ships, either in the bars (District Brew House, The Local/O'sheehans, depending on ship), sometimes on the big screen at the pool and in your stateroom. Thursday Night, 3 games on Sunday and one on Monday, On my Prima T/A last October, the games were on around 2am as we crossed the Atlantic. The Sunday day games are the ones that the network consider their main game of the week, with their national broadcasters, So if you are looking for certain regional games, you probably won't get them, And as far as the carpet fish, they removed them from the Jewel on it's last drydock but I believe the other Jewel class ships still have them, and possibly the Breakaway and Getaway (haven't been on either of those for a few years). The Prima has the new 'arrows' pointing forward on their carpet.
  16. For our Viva cruise in December, they are offering tours after debarkation that take you to either FLL or MIA, whichever one you need.
  17. I travel often for business and just spent 2 weeks in 2 different very nice Hiltons. Upon check in to both, I was told there would be no housekeeping for the 5 days I was there. The bathroom was stocked with towels and I could text the front desk or stop by for more if needed. There were large trash bins near the vending machines where I could put my daily trash (and they were emptied often so no smell). This isn't the first time I have experienced this recently and for me, it's really no big deal. Once a day service will be great once I get on a ship!
  18. Just ask your room steward to fill your ice bucket. You can have all day, every day for free,
  19. Platinum also gets to use their Latitude coupons at any restaurant. This change was made not long after the restart...I have done 6 cruises since then and can't remember exactly when it happened but I am sure someone here knows. And yes, you can tell the hostess when you check into the restaurant how you plan to pay. Just make sure you have your Latitudes coupon with you if planning on using it. Enjoy your cruise(s)!
  20. What type of events are you looking to book once on board? I very rarely use my app to book anything once I am on the ship. If it is a dinner reservation, I go to the venue or use the kiosk. Same for entertainment. And things can be booked using the TV in your cabin. Sometimes if you don't clear your cache on your phone, certain apps can get 'stuck'. I usually reboot and sign in again and everything is fine.
  21. Glad you enjoyed your cruise on the Viva. By any chance do you have a list of officers on board? Thanks!
  22. Easiest way to make dining reservations is using the chat feature on the website if the app isn't letting you make them at 125 days out. There has been talk on this forum regarding the Cruise Next employess helping to make reservations but I personally have never used them while onboard. Much easier and quicker to just do it yourself by going to the appropriate venue once on board.
  23. Kiosks are near the elevators. Check the deck plan for the box office but typically they are located right outside the theatre. Enjoy your cruise!
