  1. How much did they want for the Sky Suite? I got a bid invite for a Grand Suite, 15 day Hawaii for $1900 pp, PH was $475 PS It would take a hell of a deal to get us out of Vista
  2. We have an S5 cabin on 15 day Hi r/t LA mid-November, We got offered to bid on S4, S3, S2 and S1. The S1 was 2K pp, down to $400 PP for an S4. We bid the $475 pp minimum for S3 Penthouse Aft - we'll see what happens. Suites have shown Sold Out for weeks - one PH S4 midship has come and gone over time.
  3. My father was a passenger on the Lurline to Hawaii - 1942 - but he didn't have to pay any money for the trip. Many years later I asked him to join us on a cruise. He said "been there, done that" and declined.
  4. We had D737 on the Grand in April (starboard aft corner) and never smelled smoke even in port. Spent a lot of time on the balcony. Maybe they removed the crew smoking restriction, but it was always a smoking area (Deck 7 starboard aft)
  5. I've seen them pull tables in the DR adjacent to CC and reset them with CC tablecloths, etc. I'm not sure why they'd offend CC'ers unless it would be just a few minutes wait, especially for a better table.
  6. ...and once you've had Sauterne you can never go back My heart goes out to you.
  7. Forrest Gump's momma said, "Stupid is as stupid does". Same on the Grand in April, 200 cases made local news in LA. Thankful that we made it out uninfected... So sorry you got Covid, you did what you needed to do. We got bit late 2020 by someone who later died of it.
  8. Agreed - so sorry to hear one of our own got hit!
  9. For those under 250 lbs I'd recommend Go-Go Pride Scooter. Definitely rent from Princess vendor off their website that way it will be on board for you. https://www.princess.com/learn/faq/pre-cruise/prepare-for-your-cruise/?accordion=accessible-cruising Special Needs at Sea: 800-513-4515 or 954-585-0575, or visit the Special Needs at Sea website Scootaround: 888-441-7575 or 204-982-0657, or visit the Scootaround website DW's Go-Go will fit in the closet or along the entry wall.
  10. If I recall correctly, about freeplay table chips: If you win they take the freeplay chip. I.e. bet $10 freeplay chip, win, they pay $10 then take the freeplay chip away. On slots, if you play $10 freeplay and win you still have the $10 freeplay. I may be wrong but that's what I remember.
  11. She can be your worst nightmare but... I love her! She gave me $250 on the Grand last April! But that's just me.
  12. A Go-Go Pride will fit in the closet of any Princess cabin, it does take a bit of effort to shoe horn it in. I take off the arm rests which makes it 20" wide and DW drives it in and out. There are some spots in some elevator lobbies that are not in the exit path that have outlets where one could park a scooter to charge it and keep it out of the way. Newer ships have narrower companionways and we often need to have stewards move their carts to navigate, older Grand class have no such issues. We love aft balconies and without the scooter DW would have issues.
  13. 9 Sapphire/Diamond cruises cancelled so far this year... Timing is suspicious as the Diamond has just arrived in San Pedro.
  14. seriously!?! We had the Nov 8th cruise almost paid for with FCC, and had tacked on the 13th for a nice b2b. I did snag a cabin on the Nov 20 SoC cruise, but am also looking at rebooking for the 3rd time the Nov 17 HI out of LA on Sapphire. I'm not optimistic about the 11/20 cruise.
  15. ... cried the merry maiden
  16. The Crown's okay - had the best Manicotti of my life in the old Sabatini's on deck 16 before they SHARE'd it. Glad it's back. But: We book suites and are thermal suite denizens and the Crown, Emerald and Ruby have it down a staircase or goofy wheelchair lift, and DW is in a scooter so it is a royal pain to go to the Thermal Suite and so we tend to avoid those 3 ships.
  17. Once in a great while but only in Alaska.
  18. Perfectly legal to fly near watercraft over open water as long as separation is > 500 ft horizontally, US FAR 91.119 Most often aircraft and ocean going vessels do not communicate by radio as their radios are not capable of the same frequencies. I've been buzzed by US Navy many times.
  19. Grand Princess in April, Sabatini's Sole Picatta was excellent - went back and had it again and we were able to walk in and get a table. We do terribly miss Sabi's Manicotti and the artichoke cheese souffle. We might do CG in Alaska if they are serving locally sourced Salmon and Oysters.
  20. Sorry to hear that, we were on Grand in April and it was so cool to order a beer while lounging at the Lotus Spa pool where it's a schlep to a bar and where the crew never wanders by.
  21. Maybe your cruise will be canceled? (sorry - I hope I'm just kidding) Likely all excursions have yet to be opened. If they were sold out they'd show and you could ask to be waitlisted. Yep, you can order drinks the second your feet hit the deck. You will have to pay city/county/state taxes on list price until out to sea. If you order with the app and choose "My Location", the server will chase you all over the ship. Edit to add: with the drinks package, they will deliver to your cabin, best upgrade yet.
  22. When using the hang tag I always write in our special orders: Oatmeal with lots of brown sugar and raisins, special order omelets, eggs your way, french toast, etc. If you know what will be MDR breakfast the next day, write that in: Benedicts, James Beard french toast... Never had a refusal unless it was just not in the kitchen. Note: 1 bacon is one order of bacon, not 1 slice. Room service has their own kitchen. And as noted, definitely get stewart to give you tomorrow's MDR menus Bkfst, Lunch and Dinner, they can get them for Suites. We did have a funny experience once, our steward got the days "off by one" so we for several days were always ordering yesterday's breakfasts... And we order Mocha's with extra espresso via the TV or app, maybe with Bailey's. But definitely get to the Suite Breakfast as often as you can. We usually like port days even though they close a bit earlier. And if you like, you can always go to Club Class breakfast.
