  1. The people who stand in the middle of the pathway and make it nearly impossible for others to get around. Happens all over the ship Loud talkers who think they're the only ones in a room No real late night food options. I love the pizza, but the line is always so long New shopping options. If you cruise more than 1x per year, you see the same selection on every ship. And get rid of the EFFY jewelry! So overpriced. Bad karaoke singers Hard sells after a spa service
  2. I fully realize you are talking about gambling...but the title cracked me up at first glance!
  3. We were on the Horizon 3 weeks ago, in Havana too. I will not sail on Vista class without that wonderful area! Totally worth it. We're on Vista in a Havana Cabana next October and are looking forward to that.
  4. Good for you! I have the same amount for my solo Elation cruise in January. It's going to my bar tab rather than Cheers! Enjoy your trip!
  5. We're leaving on the Horizon on Sunday. I'm not worried at all. The storm will still be far enough at sea to not affect our getting our of Miami. Beyond that, I trust Carnival to keep me safe. My ports may change, but I'm still on a cruise, so it's all good! Try not to stress about it.
  6. on Vista class ships, it is absolutely worth it. I wouldn't pay for the experience on Excel Class. The Havana area is significantly smaller and the pool is tiny.
  7. I'd pass. You still get the access to the Havana area so why pay extra?
  8. That's pretty sad actually. Out of ALL the choices on the menu, you've only gone for the strawberry soup? Wow.
  9. The daily cost is (I think) $64.95 if you wait until you are on board. That's where the difference comes from. So purchasing ahead does save you that 10% over buying onboard.
  10. I thought that too. The decor certainly does not match anything I've seen on the Horizon.
  11. No it's not. Anthem of the Seas, April 7, 2024 Inside Cabin is $698 per person. Studio Interior is $1200. The Studio is smaller than the Interior square footage. Now if I were to simply book the Interior at the double occupancy rate, it would cost me $1400. So how is it a benefit to me to book the smaller cabin at nearly the price of the regular and larger Interior? That's what isn't fair! The Studios would be more fairly priced at 1.5 times the regular single occupancy rate IMO
  12. I am fully aware of these policies. My point was that royal's solo cabins still end up costing someone MORE than the fare for a single cruiser in a double cabin. For the cruise i wanted, an Interior priced out at $698 pp. The solo rate was $1200. That's in a smaller cabin. So that pricing structure still charges a single cruiser more to have less space overall.
  13. I was considering a cruise on Anthem of the Seas out of Cape Liberty in April 2024. I don't have to fly to port, and the ship has the Studio Interiors for a single guest. Regular Interior lowest category priced out at $703pp, $900 with fees and taxes. The Studios were not coming up for booking, so I checked with our AAA agent. The Studio Cabins for the sailing I want are $1200 including port fees and taxes. Studio Interiors are far smaller than a regular Interior. That means I am paying more than an Interior guest even though I am allocated far less space. Does that seem fair? RC markets these cabins as having 'no solo supplement", but you're actually paying virtually the same amount as a double occupancy guest.
  14. Platinums are Priority. Board any time.
  15. Change up the trivia. I've been on several cruises with the exact same questions on each! Wine tastings.
  16. The Chocolate Lovers Coffee at Java Blue is fantastic. Try the Deal Closer at Alchemy...adult chocolate milk!
  17. Yes, the canned and bottled drinks in the case are free if you have CHEERS. I was glad for the sparkling water options.
  18. My family is cruising on the Horizon in September. Ocho Rios is our first port. We were planning on doing Carnival's Discovery Bay Beach Break with lunch, but then I learned there's been an upgrade to the tourist alert for all of the island. The alert cautions tourists to be extra careful when traveling as there's been a major uptick on robberies...even for cruise ship passengers. Anyone been there recently and can offer advice? We were really looking forward to this excursion, but no way I want to put any of us at risk
  19. 100% agree! Watlings and Graycliff are always on my Nassau list
  20. We had one of the sideways interiors in January. It feels very spacious! Only downside is the bathrooms are small.
  21. You are rolling the dice with an early flight. Debark times are completely dependent upon when the ship arrives in Miami and when it is cleared by Customs. If there's any delay in arriving back at port, you'll be out of luck. Delays can happen for weather or a host of other circumstances. If possible, you may want to pay whatever change fee your airline has and switch to a later flight. If you end up missing your original one, the headaches of rebooking are just not worth it imo.
  22. We've stayed in a few of the Havana Insides. While you may hear a bit of noise from the bar at night, it is minimal and ends by midnight.
  23. Havana Insides are the way to go! We love them.
