Yes, and this would allow extra time to make the Cape Town to Freo leg more interesting eg calls on the east coast of South Africa, Madagascar, Seychelles, Zanzibar.  I think this would be higher revenue and definitely lower fuel cost.  Maybe Royal don’t know of these places!

And we’re doing Mauritius, Madagascar Zanzibar and Seychelles on Azamara.
NCL also do some great itineraries in that region.

@Chiliburn we are destined not to meet!

    Who says they didn't?

Maybe I'm missing something- but did anyone here have a Suez Canal cruise on the Voyager?  Seems that people that had their cruise canceled had some kind of Med cruise that was canceled because the ship had to leave early to get around Africa instead of the Suez Canal.

Yes, we were booked on Suez Voyager actually which was a 14n cruise @Cigar King not 7n.

  3. Of course I know where Athens is but RCI have omitted it from their list of European departure ports for some reason… so if you’re looking for a Med cruise don’t just select the options listed ( Ravenna not Venice, or Civitavecchia) as you will never see the Athens departures!

Select Europe as the destination or browse by ship - Voyager and Brilliance to see Athens departures

20th and 27th cruises were originally Rome to Ravenna and Ravenna to Rome.

So these changes cannto be related to Red sea. They pulled out ships from Ravenne aslo this year Oct and we missed Crotia and Corfu on Expolrer. An booked 20th Oct 25 specially because Croatia and Montenegro. And now again. Very angry at the moment...

The ship now has to go around Africa.

    This takes longer.

Therefore they have to adjust a few earlier itineraries to allow for the longer transit duration.

So yes, these changes are totally necessary and are directly related to the Red Sea.

    Hi all,

How do we know if the cabin has the sofa by the bed or the window? Thanks

How to know if your bed is by the bath or balcony? On QUANTUM class find an adjoining pair of cabins: as you look from the hallway the cabin to the left will have the bed by the balcony.  The one on the right will have the bed by the bathroom. Count down the corridor alternating balcony/bath until you get to your cabin. JS always have bed by bathroom

From Captains Corner on Anthem - Are there any plans to deploy larger ships out of the UK?

This has been talked about for many years. We are building more larger ships and they need a home, and that’s not in Florida. It won’t be next year (Indy) or the year after (Liberty), but keep an eye out. There are plans to deploy our largest ships in new homes, but that’s all I can say at the moment.

Did the Captain specifically mention Indie and Liberty or is that your addition?

This would be true of any mass market cruise line.

Disagree… some ships have ice rinks some do not.

Some ships have Jamie’s some have Giovannis

And with VV all restaurants on all 4 ships are the same currently ** ergo all menus are the same.

Their “ thing” is the Scarlet night party and the PJ party and once you’ve done that once you’ve done it.

    One trick pony 🫏

** I understand their first ship Scarlet lady has just been into dry dock and their Razzle Dazzle restaurant has now changed to be Lucky Lotus by RD so now there is a teeny bit of variation

There are elevators on Azamara so I don’t get the comment about wheelchairs.   There were two different, no charge, specialty restaurants.   Like both the Italian and the Steak, the in one of them frequently.   The Azamazing event is great and occurs in one of the ports.   The white night is a wonderful party for everyone.   It’s a close knit passenger and crew experience with little evidence of better treatment for upper suites.

Specialty restaurants no longer free for regular cruisers $44.99pp.

PH2. We have young 20s. We've been on Anthem (similar to Odyssey) and Explorer (to similar ports last summer). Both will have plenty for a 20 something (putt-putt, comedy, DJ, flowrider, ice show, skating. O will have a bit more stuff and be newer. Either will be fine. Explorer had a bit of rust on parts of balcony (and the balconies are set back (look at photos). We had and excellent cruise.

Ravenna is 2.5 hours from Venice-RCCL has a shuttle to the ship ($60 one way). We flew to Venice and returned to Florence/Rome and flew back from Rome.

odyssey does not have ice skating ⛸️ or mini golf ️

I suspect that number is growing as the price of Celebrity's premium package is very pricey.  Compare it to Princess who gives you unlimited specialty for roughly the same price ...

Corkage fee does not apply if you have Classic or Premium package.. with all my cruises the Classic was included in the price so I still think the numbers actually effected are small. Added to those who say they are never charged corkage because the staff don’t want the hassle… it’s hardly a big revenue stream I suspect

  11. Agree with your layout comments- we got dizzy crossing from one side of the ship to the other!!!
Also with their need to be “different” - why can’t they send out bag tags beforehand like any normal line instead of making people wait outside the terminal? My friends who did the cruise between yours and mine were waiting outside for 45 mins .. thank goodness it wasn’t raining in Portsmouth!

We had no issues with food quality or service but as a fussy eater I did literally only have a few items in each menu I would eat. I cannot imagine someone only doing this as their one cruise line of choice as they are a one trick pony and it would get very repetitive imho - yes, we have got a MNVV and will do one more in 2026. But that will be for itinerary, to try other dining venues and ties in with a land based vacation - But then that will be us done I suspect

Unknown at present. She is heading to Europe for Dry Dock in March.

There are currently no visible port bookings for Odyssey in place for Summer 2026 in any European ports, despite Explorer and Brilliance both being listed on the Athens schedule! 🤔

So there is the teensiest beacon of hope that she could be in Southampton?!?

I have a girlfriend who wants to do a Greece trip next year so I've started researching, looking at Sept/Oct 2025. I have a couple of questions for those who have taken similar itineraries.

Did you have a preference for flying into Athens or Venice? Is one "easier" than the other? I have global entry if that makes any kind of difference.

My friend wants to see Athens so I think we could arrive a couple of days early and explore more versus just a port day (plus time to time-zone adjust). But I think it's a longer flight haul from what I'm seeing so I'm weighing that as well.

This brings me to another question, did you use Air2Sea or independently book your flight? The most I've flown recently is around 5-ish hours to Puerto Rico for a Southern Caribbean cruise so I'm adjusting to the thought of this flight haul 🫣

Voyager in October 2025 may be cancelled as they may reroute her around Africa so don’t count on those itineraries going ahead.
Athens is probably an hour further than Venice, do not really an impact on flight duration

Cruises leave from Ravenna which is 2hrs south of Venice so you will need to factor in that travel time/cost.
Piraeus is only a €25 drive from

    Athens.
Global Entry only applies in the USA
