  1. I don’t know if I’ll ever invest in a mirror less system. I still plod along with my Nikon dslr which is getting a bit long in the tooth. I’ve had quite a few different brands of camera. My first was a Russian Zenith with a fabric shutter ( which didn’t last long & was soon consigned to the bin) through Minolta, Olympus XA (loved the style-still have it) & Pentax. Haven’t really gone much with Canon as both my son’s & my Canon developed a similar critical fault a couple of months after the warranty expired so I was a bit put off. The point of my post was to consider if the manufacturer of your first camera (in my case mid 70s) affected the way you take photographs. The first camera I spent a lot of time with was a Pentax and it was aperture priority and that is still my go to set up for camera. At the time the popular Canons were shutter priority and I note that quite a few folk who started on those still think shutter speed first when setting up shots. I guess this is a post for those of a certain age as modern cameras have multiple set up options.
  2. Something a bit different. Not in port but tendering to Eigg
  3. We had to ask for a bar of soap (liquid soap provided). Also requested conditioner. Shampoo & shower gel in dispensers in the shower (conveniently labelled in 8 point text 😂) White company products.
  4. That only holds if you run your account down to zero. Most passengers will get to the end of the cruise owing P&O some money. If the extra obc is used to cover that spend then that is currency that P&O will not receive.
  5. ‘Jag’ as in thistle. Partick team’s nickname & Buckie’s but not sure about ICT! Afraid I’m not sure about the link between jab & injection. Stab perhaps?
  6. I read last week- where? Was it P&O site or was it on Facebook? To what did the nine months refer? Was it the time between the end of your two vaccinations & the booster? Ooops sorry, that looks a bit severe. It’s not meant to be it’s an honest query.
  7. John Snow knew a bit about disease transmission😉
  8. Dublin a UK city? I obviously missed that when I did GCE Geoggers. I would guess that’s one for the insurance company to mull over.
  9. I agree the test at the dockside was a bit fraught. Fancy having to find your cases which had already been put on the ship & then drive for X hours home following a +ve result.
  10. Wow! Could you supply the data source, please.
  11. For many years my bank sent correspondence to us addressing me as Xxxxx Yyyyy Esq. (They were the last bank to use ledgers in branch.)They then seemed to wrench themselves into the C20 and normal address labels came for a couple of years. Then letters came to me recognising me ( quite erroneously) as a knight of the realm. I was tempted, but I contacted them to sort it out.
  12. It would be helpful if you could post the source of your information. Thanks.
  13. We did exactly as Lanky Lad. Anytime on the day before embarkation is acceptable. Test before breakfast and you should have your results before your last cup of coffee is drained. The ‘tech’ skills needed to install the app etc. aren’t too great but if not then a test at a local pharmacy. NB if you do opt for Randox then keep your order number handy.
  14. Decision ( re:OBC) currently until end of July 2023. Future years will be announced in April 2023.
  15. Randox was fine for us. Tested before breakfast the day before sailing and the confirmation Was back within 30 mins. As an earlier poster mentioned, do keep your order number handy.
  16. Agree almost with Windsurfboy. I would have said only use the mirror when the knot is tied, just to check it’s all even.
  17. Not disagreeing with anything you state, Snowhill but getting valid results from passengers once they had left the ship would be complex. Who would pay for testing? Who would be tested? Would they conform? You hear on sites like this from some of the people who have contracted but not all and if you are clear then it’s hardly worth a mention. I would imagine that there will be regular testing of the ship’s company and variation in numbers there could analysed to give an indication of what is happening on board. We came back a week or so ago & tested +ve. We then had run out of tests and had to wait for more to be delivered ( from a relative’s stock.) Now negative. We have a longer cruise booked later in the year and would certainly feel happier if pre boarding testing was still in place. It’s obviously not a complete solution but if you can limit (even by a small amount) the base infection level of boarding passengers then it seems worthwhile.
  18. That’s the beauty of formal nights, absolutely no hassle. Never got to worry if the shirt colour clashes with trousers of if the socks are the wrong colour. And best of all…not a logo in sight!
  19. Not sure of the purpose of booking the theatre. If it is to limit numbers for COVID purposes then all four entry doors to the theatre should be monitored for at least 15 mins after the start of the show. I thought a bus party had just arrived after the start of the first show on Ventura last week. It isn’t safe practice to have folk stumbling around in a darkened theatre and also it isn’t fair to have seated passengers having to move to accommodate late comers.
  20. June 23rd would seem to be the answer to the original question…for now!
  21. Probably less hassle(!) to fill your bottle in the cabin & then cool it in the cabin fridge.

    Dilemma

So sorry to hear of your situation. Another possibility which we used when there was a problem getting insurance was to contact BIBA (Brit Ins Brokers’ Assn.) When you phone them they ask you the general details of your situation and then suggest 3 (it was three in our case) companies who are likely to provide cover for you to contact. The said to ring back if the initial three were unsuitable. The companies you contact will then carry out a detailed screening & offer a premium. As it happens we were quite satisfied with their first suggestion and took out cover there & then. Good luck.
  23. Just a detail re the calculation; although there have been no dividends in the last couple of years (& also 2009) they should be taken into account.
  24. Many years since we went to Toulon but I do remember it being a big naval base and from the ferry across from the ship to the town we saw an impressive number of naval vessels including Clemenceau.
